The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 599: ‘Cause I’m Overcome In This War Of Hearts [1]

[SICARIO]

Hawi and the knights were in the planning room when a portal opened right in the middle of the room with them. It was so shocking that for a moment everyone stilled.

Granted, they all regained their composure instantly and readied themselves for the worst of the worst, but it wasn't ever going to match the shock on their faces when the dead Rukiya Greyson stood there with them in the regalia of the werewolf queen…

…. and even worse… she was in the company of the 'most annoying protector' as deemed by the Savasci knights.

Over the years their spite for Kadiam had grown so much because they blamed him for Hawi leaving and for taking Rukiya away without saying so much as a word to them that would make them understand the whys and hows.

It was a feud that to this day the knights hadn't let go of, and yet when Kadiam stood there with Rukiya Greyson alive and then dead they were not sure if this was an illusion or if this was just another sick game by the realm and the gates. Whatever this was wasn't funny at all.

"You came for me, Ruru," Hawi spoke first, as she rushed to her mate and pulled her into a searing kiss, something that not only confused the hell out of Kadiam but that got Mbali's jaw on the floor along with the other knights.

This was not what any of them had expected.

It was one thing for Ruru to be alive and another for Hawi to react like she had known this for some time now.

Mbali stared in confusion as her thoughts raced back and forth to the day that Hawi suddenly insisted that she wanted to come home. That was barely a week after the queen had come to the human realm and now this was happening.

Judging by the shock on Rukiya's face too, no one had known that this would happen and the calm face that Hawi was walking when she pulled back from the kiss with her mate was suspicious as hell.

"So, we were all played?" Mbali asked as she looked at her mistress, however her tone wasn't accusing or anything. It was light, relieved even because she had seen Hawi suffer for Rukiya's loss for three hundred long years.

She had seen the girl lose herself in so many things and she hadn't been able to help because frankly there were just some things that even Mbali, however close to Hawi she was, wouldn't have been able to make right for the girl.

This right here was what happiness looked like but the way that everyone is treating Rukiya the Adolf was just out of this world.

"You found out she was alive, that's why you wanted to come home so suddenly after mourning her for three hundred painful and agonizing years," Mbali said, the realization making her heart flutter.

She was so damn happy for Hawi that she wanted to scream it to the world and let them know that her mistress was finally happy. This right here was their kind of heaven and honestly, life couldn't have been any better than this for the lot of them.

"But Ruru wouldn't make us suffer for that long if she knew we were here, right? I even asked Hawi to save us from her… What the fuck?" Adolf asked as he looked at Rukiya Greyson, the girl they had all lived and mourned in their own way.

For three hundred years they had strived to move on but deep down they never really moved on. There was a blank space that only Ruru would have been able to fill. It was the kind that not even the goddess and Hawi would have filled.

For years they had suctioned together as the Savasci knights, they had been a unit and when they lost Rukiya everything came down. They were wasting and could hold their own but theirs was the kind of loss that would never go away.

It was like the world didn't make sense and right now as they took in the sight before them, they all could feel the kind of rage that was meant for just one person.

And of all the people that had been expected to break first, Elodie Kane wasn't it. So, when she struck first, the gasps of surprise were all that filled the room before they realized that she had a murderous expression on her face.

"You knew… all this time you knew who the queen was, and you didn't do shit. You came and snatched her when my sister wasn't even out of her mourning yet. She begged you to let her mate stay longer—

"... and you just fucking took her like you didn't have your humanity you piece of shit! The least you could have done was remind us all that she was immortal too and hadn't done, but you just wanted us to break and suffer, didn't you?

"You wanted all of us to stay stuck to the pain, and for what, Kadiam, huh?" Elodie asked angrily as she punched the hell out of Kadiam.

The protector was stronger than Elodie and could have easily flipped her over and racked her, but with the ten knights in the same room that didn't seem like the best of ideas.

Besides judging by the rage on their faces it was easy to assume that they all wanted a piece of him. This was not supposed to be this hectic but then here they were. No one was supposed to get access to that kind of rage and Kadiam was paying the price for it with Elodie.

"I couldn't do anything! Okay?! The goddess gave us a choice when we came for her after the war. She said we could either manipulate all of you into thinking Rukiya died to restore the balance and release the weight on Hawi's shoulders because of the Queenship;

"... or we could trigger Malika into believing the Savasci knights killed her sister so she could kill all of you for it to be easier for the fates to kill Hawi! What choice would you have made back then? Huh?!" Kadiam shouted and the room went dead silent.

Of all the things that Elodie had expected to hear from Kadiam and the choices that he had made and that had hurt all of them, this one was certainly not what they had had in mind.

It was the kind of cruelty that no one should have been subjected to. And suddenly manipulating everyone was better than triggering the most powerful protector of the realm.

This was crazy and as Hawi listened she realized that they were all bound to the most unhinged bored creator of all time. Who the fuck even did that to her people? What kind of fate were the bound to and why the fuck did Islinda want to do that to her people?

What did she stand to gain from all of this then?

Oh, it was a fucked-up group then.

The moon goddess was crazy, there was nothing else that could be used to describe the woman. It was almost like the real was bound to her just for her to play games and fuck up things that people cared about.

This was not fair in any way and it was honestly fucked up so badly.

"But she told me that my death would mean Hawi was never going to suffer in her hands again?" Rukiya asked confusedly. This wasn't how she had imagined her fate would be and it wasn't making sense to her. What the hell was the goddess playing at with all of them?

"And she told me that erasing your memories last week was the only way to keep you and my daughter safe," Hawi raged, making the knights stare at her even more.

Now this was crazy and the fact that the moon goddess was right at the center of this mess wasn't comforting in any way. The woman had too much power and she was making sure to manipulate shit in her favor.

But then what was a powerful creator like the goddess scared of for her to be messing up so many lives in one group at the same time? What was it about the knights that were making her feel threatened when the knights were just trying to lead their lives and be happy without any trouble?

"Looks like the prophecy about Hawi is true then if she went to all that trouble to make sure Hawi was down," Malika said.
