Chapter 29: The Hunters

Emma sprinted down the dark corridor, her heart pounding in her chest. She could hear the others behind her, their footsteps echoing off the walls.

As she ran, Emma's mind racing with possibilities. Who were these people? And what did they want from her?

She burst through a door and found herself in a narrow alleyway. The night air was cool and damp, filled with the scent of garbage and decay.

Emma didn't hesitate. She kept running, her feet pounding the pavement. She could hear the others behind her, closing in.

Suddenly, a hand reached out from the shadows and grabbed her arm. Emma spun around, ready to fight.

But it was Alex.

"Come on," he whispered, pulling her into the shadows. "We have to get out of here."

Emma's eyes narrowed. Could she trust him?

But as she looked into his eyes, she saw something there that gave her hope.

Maybe, just maybe, Alex was on her side.
