The Returner Goes to the Academy

Chapter 8: The Returner Goes to the Academy

Wataru Yoshida: Why do you want to kill my sister?!

The demon: "It's because of her broken ability, the manipulation of reality. It's not in our best interest to have a girl with the power to destroy us."

Wataru Yoshida: "If possible, wait, how the hell do you know she has that?"

The demon: "Because I saw your sister's birthday and heard that."

Wataru Yoshida: "Oh, that's right, but why didn't you show yourself before?"

The demon: "I wanted to observe your habits for when you died, to control your body well."

Wataru Yoshida: "Well, whatever, we have to destroy all this and call the heroes so they can imprison that old man."

The neighbor (Matias): "I don't think I'm going to let you do that."

Matías would quickly throw a knife, which Wataru would barely manage to dodge.

Wataru whispering: "Shit, when did he appear?"

Wataru Yoshida: "Activate."

Matías would quickly position himself behind Wataru and grab the knife he had thrown and stab Wataru with it, leaving him on his knees on the floor.

The neighbor (Matías): "Goodbye, Wataru. Say hello to your uncle for me."

Matías quickly cut off Wataru's head.

The neighbor (Matías): "You know, I thought this guy was going to put up a fight, but in the end, I killed him easily."

???: You're going to have to kill him again. The demon will come out at any moment. In the end, that boy was saying something strange.

The neighbor (Matias): Oh, really? What was it?

???: Attempt 1 failed, and next time I'll try to stop you.

The neighbor (Matias): Those must be your delusions.

4:55 p.m.

Matías quickly positioned himself behind Wataru and grabbed the knife he had thrown, but this time Wataru stopped him with a knife he had in his pocket. However, Matías didn't hold it tightly enough, so it fell, making a slight cut on his face, and Wataru moved away.

Wataru Yoshida: "Good, I withstood the first attack."

The neighbor (Matías): "Don't get too excited, Wataru, this is just the first blow."

Matías would throw the knife that was on the ground and tell him to pick it up.

???-That's a very confident move, Matías.

The neighbor (Matías)-What's wrong with this guy? He's weak.

Wataru Yoshida-"Activate."

Wataru was about to lunge, but...

The demon-WAIT!

The demon would point at Matías and say, "You are Fridus, the Class A demon."

Wataru Yoshida: "So this one can have hands."

The demon: "Finally, I can leave this body. Fridus, go and call your superiors and tell them to lock this human up."

Fridus: "...

The demon: "What's wrong, Fridus?"

Fridus: "Who the hell are you? I don't know you."

The demon: "Of course you do. Remember when the Class A demons came to try to kill me and you defended me?"

Fridus: "Oh, you're that demon."

The demon: "Yes. Now call the higher-ups so they can imprison him."

Fridus would interrupt him and say, "I don't need to do that, because we're going to kill you both."

The demon: "What? But what about me?"

Fridus: I don't care about you, we'll kill you anyway.

The demon: But... we were friends.

Fridus: We were never friends, I just used you to steal all your vitality every day without you realizing it. You were running out of vitality and I was getting stronger.

The demon: ...

The demon would enter Wataru's mind without saying anything.

Wataru would ask him, "What really happened? Did that affect you?"

But the demon would not answer.

Matias would attack Wataru without saying anything, but Wataru would manage to defend himself. Wataru would take another knife out of his pocket and try to counterattack, but Matias would not allow it, stopping the attack with a katana axe made by Fridus.

The neighbor (Matias): "You're impressive, Wataru. Almost no one has ever made me use two weapons in a fight, not counting demons, but I'm the only one who's going to win this fight."

Matias would push Wataru and throw the knife at him. Wataru would dodge it, but this was the old man's plan, and he would end up piercing him with a spear.

The neighbor (Matias): "Mmm, I expected more, but well, I don't know what to expect from a boy without powers who thinks he's a hero. Goodbye, Wataru."

Wataru Yoshida: "Two failed attempts."

Matias would cut off his head.

Fridus: Why do you always cut off the heads of those you kill?

The neighbor (Matias): Because they die more easily.

4:55:30 p.m.

Wataru Yoshida: "Hey, stupid demon, how do I defeat that old man?"

Although Wataru insisted, he would not receive any answer.

In the following attempts, Wataru Moria failed in the same way because he could not find an opening in his opponent.

Attempt number 32 failed.

Wataru would enter his mind and hit the demon to make him react.

The demon: "What are you doing here? You shouldn't be fighting."

Wataru Yoshida: "Yes, I am. I can do both things at once. Maybe not at the best quality, but I can defend myself."

The demon: "It makes no sense for you to come looking for a weak and pathetic demon who doesn't know when he's being used."

Wataru would hit him again, harder.

Wataru Yoshida: This is no time to think like that, you fool. We have to go fight.

The demon: What's the point? Even if we kill that old man, Fridus will kill us both.

Wataru Yoshida: That's how I felt when I faced you, and look where we are now.

Wataru Yoshida: No matter how scared you are or how much you want to escape, we have to fight for at least a good future. Do you want to kill the demon that used you?

The demon: ...

The demon: That was ridiculous, kid. Hahaha.

Wataru Yoshida: Actually, yes, haha.

The demon: I'll trust you, brat.

Wataru Yoshida: "Okay, what abilities can you give me?"

The demon: "I can give you weapons and make you faster."

Wataru Yoshida: "Okay, what else?"

The demon: ...

Wataru Yoshida-"Seriously, you only have two? Damn it."

The demon-"There's one more, but it only works when you kill someone."

Wataru Yoshida-"Tell me what it is."

The demon-"It steals powers."

Wataru Yoshida-"What do you mean, steals powers? Well, our time is up."

Attempt number 33 failed.

Wataru Yoshida: Hey, Matías, you know, my sister once told me that the number 34 symbolizes hope and success. I don't believe in that nonsense, but sometimes you have to have hope, especially when you're fighting for your life.

The neighbor (Matías): What nonsense you talk, Wataru.
