The revenge of the dethroned king

Chapter 8: 7. Some useful information

The map: At the beginning of the story, we only know about the human kingdom, which is divided into four nations. There is the kingdom of Arkis, which is somewhat in the center of this formation, but it shares a border with the kingdom of the elves. However, this border is more like a desert of sharp, pointed rocks called the Fallen Lands. We quickly learn that a huge battle took place there, killing every living thing in the area. Later, corpse-eating beasts came to inhabit the land.

To the east of the kingdom of Arkis lies the most glorious country, or rather empire, in the human world, ruled by the great Ventis. This kingdom rarely intervenes in conflicts, and Ventis is seen as a non-human whose presence signifies a great event. This kingdom is called the Kingdom of Light.

To the north, there is a river that marks the border of the country and the kingdom of Koran, ruled by King Leonart. A generally discreet and inactive kingdom, their king is calm and the country has never really known war.

In the south, however, there is the Duke of Grey. He is sometimes called the mad king. He rose to power through a revolution. He looked so unhealthy that the people decided not to call him king, and he didn't mind. The Duke of Grey is devious and provocative by nature. He is surely the man with the most weapons at his disposal. He makes no secret of his crimes and actions. He only claims power and control over the south.

The kingdom of the elves is more discreet, and interactions with the human world are minimal. So rare that one could say they do not exist. The great battle that took place at the border was the cause of this. We later learn that the elves have never liked humans, and this has been the cause of many conflicts.

The rest of the world is rather mysterious. There are several peoples scattered here and there around these two worlds. The dwarves are further south. There are other kingdoms about which we have no information, but we know they exist. In fact, these are the rejected kingdoms. Their existence is considered forbidden and profane. Moreover, long ago, the beastmen were eradicated from the face of the world...

Significant historical conflicts : the most recent is obviously the destruction of Arkis, leaving the human world with a gaping hole on their map.

More than 700 years ago, the mages were also eliminated. The cause: an extreme addiction to turning everything back into pure mana. The mages were a threat to their world because the disease called "Return to Mana" affected everyone who touched magic. As soon as the mages began to practice and accept mana into their bodies, the mana became poisonous.

The first symptoms were simply the desire to deepen one's knowledge and mastery of it. Then the mages inevitably sought to transform themselves into pure energy sources before wanting the world itself to return to pure energy. It was almost inevitable; mana wanted everyone to become it. It wanted everyone to be pure energy.

Conflicts quickly broke out several times. At first, it was thought that these were madmen and that the infected had nothing to do with the others. But very quickly, it was realized that all mages were involved, and an expedition was launched to eradicate them. The mages, led by Hodeus, the great archmage, were decimated by the powerful hand of Arkis himself.

These are the only two known conflicts that Aris is aware of at the beginning of the work. However, they both hide a rather dark truth.

In the archives, he may also have learned about the war of division, which separated the human kingdoms, and an old book that mentions a little bit about the council of the world....
