Chapter 514: Chapter 514: Conflict Between Dragons and Giants
"All the grievances have been settled. Prepare to depart for the next subcontinent," Muria commanded after listening to Mia's report on the spoils of the recent campaign. His face remained impassive, as he had already anticipated these results. Dragons with complete heritage are natural appraisal masters, capable of estimating the value of their plunder with precision.
"Which is the nearest subcontinent to me?" Muria asked Casio in his mind.
"That would be the subcontinent of Deproson, a realm of ice and snow where cold is the eternal theme," Casio's gentle voice responded. "Your strength might be slightly suppressed by the environment there, but it should not pose a significant issue."
"A world of frost." Muria's lips curved into a faint, amused smile. He didn't need to investigate to know which dragons had been exiled to Deproson.
"Claudia, it's been a while." Without even guessing, Muria knew that the scholarly white dragon resided on that subcontinent. His dragon mother had meticulously chosen exile locations that best suited each dragon's survival and growth.
"The weakest bloodline, the greatest talent." This was how Muria evaluated Claudia. Among the 101 chromatic dragons he raised, Claudia had the weakest bloodline. Yet, none of the other dragons dared to provoke her.
Those who did were soundly beaten, often severely. Even a red dragon born twelve years before her couldn't match her. Her prowess in magic was unmatched among the dragons under Muria's care, which is why he kept her close, fulfilling her every need.
Moreover, Claudia had managed to unify all the white dragons under her command, making her the true leader of the white dragons among Muria's forces. Unlike the wild, barbaric disgrace of the dragon species found on large glaciers, the white dragons under Muria's care were refined and disciplined.
"I wonder how far you've expanded your influence now, my little prodigy," Muria mused as he summoned the Book of Lamentations, hoping to glimpse Claudia's current situation through the cursed tome.
Before his last slumber, Muria often used the Book of Lamentations out of boredom to check on the progress of the chromatic dragons he had exiled to various subcontinents.
While some dragons, like the red dragon Albert, cleverly anticipated that Muria would eventually retrieve them and thus lived lazily without concern, most were ambitious.
Using their enhanced intelligence and insight, far superior to their kin, they began to establish their own territories and build their powers.
Among all these dragons, Muria observed that Claudia had likely made the most progress. In the perpetually snowy world, she had charmed and subdued wild white dragons, leading them in battles against local frost giants for territory. With each victory, her influence grew stronger.
The conflict between dragons and giants was inevitable. Resources were scarce, and both species required them, making violent clashes unavoidable.
"After more than twenty years, how much have you grown?" Muria wondered as he opened the Book of Lamentations. With the help of the curse spirit Black, he observed a dignified and elegant white dragon. Just as he was about to look closer, the image shattered before his astonished eyes.
"What just happened? Black, explain this to me," Muria demanded, frowning at the equally stunned curse spirit beside him.
"This is impossible... How could she have detected me? A mere white dragon shouldn't be able to," Black said in disbelief. Half of this reaction was for Muria's benefit, but the other half was genuine shock.
"You've been discovered!" Muria's eyebrows raised, a look of intrigued amusement spreading across his face. Before his sleep, he had never encountered such a reaction while observing Claudia. Clearly, she had made significant progress as well.
"Now, Synapse will head at full speed to the icy world, Deproson Subcontinent," Muria declared, standing up. As the supreme ruler of Synapse, he alone had the authority to decide its direction.
...
"The sense of being watched has returned after more than twenty years? You eluded me before, but now that I've reached the legendary rank, do you still think I can't deal with you?" In a vast ice palace, a slender and graceful white dragon opened her eyes, the faint golden glow in them radiating a solemn and inviolable majesty.
Beneath the icy throne of this legendary white dragon stood six powerful white dragons, who had followed her loyally since they were young, fighting alongside her.
Being devoted to the Ice Queen was not without rewards. Claudia, the Ice Queen, never forgot to share the benefits she received with her loyal followers. As a result, these six white dragons had developed the capability to battle aging red dragons. In Deproson Subcontinent, where red dragons were scarce due to the inhospitable environment for fire dragons, this made them quite formidable.
Behind these six were more elder and ancient white dragons, and even a few great wyrms, albeit ones with only Soul Intent-level strength. This highlighted why white dragons were often seen as the disgrace of dragonkind; for a white dragon to reach the legendary rank by simply sleeping, it would need to live over 1,200 years, significantly longer than gold or red dragons.
"Claudia, who is watching you?" asked an elder white dragon, half the size of Claudia, with a fawning expression. "Is it those filthy, ugly, and crude frost giant shamans?"
"No." Claudia suppressed her irritation, looking at the "elder" of her race before her. It was truly humiliating to be of the same species as this character.
"Sister Ya, now that you've become a legend, we have the strength to confront those large frost giant tribes directly. We've tolerated them for long enough. It's time to teach those frost giants and those greedy, reckless dragon hunters a lesson," advised a white dragon nearly fifty meters long, almost the size of an ancient dragon, one of Claudia's loyal followers.
"Hmm." Claudia rose from her icy throne, exhaling a breath of air so cold it seemed to freeze the very space around her. Her eyes, shining with a faint golden light, were filled with ambitious plans for the future. Now that she had advanced to the legendary rank, it was time to unleash her full potential.
"My dear, sweet daughter, who do you want to show your might to?" A voice suddenly echoed from beside the icy throne. A massive dragon, with scales as clear as crystal and exuding an aura subtly more powerful than Claudia's, appeared abruptly.
