Chapter 17: Chapter 17
( Sorry for the random interruption into the chapter; however, I forgot to explain something about Sado's sensing. Unlike normal sensing in Dragon Ball, he doesn't lock onto Ki; rather, he senses for odd movements, similarly to a bat using echolocation, giving a reason he can sense the incoming enemies. - Author )
" Break! "
The surge of ants, the group scattered, followed by the sound of a loud crackling of a tree branch. Amouage glanced back, watching Sado gently land on the snow. The two locked eyes before Amouage stopped on a dime as the others carried on.
" Oh? You stopped? " Said Sado with a grin on his face. Amouage didn't respond, only listening to the footsteps of comrades growing fainter and fainter.
" Of course. You were planning on targeting Ormonde, weren't you? " Said Amouage, walking over towards the tree before leaping into the air, yanking the blade out of the man's chest, letting his body drop to the floor.
" Depends, who is Ormonde? " Responded Sado.
" The novice. The one who asked far too many questions. I know you've been trailing us for some time now. " Sado nodded before pointing his palm at Amouage.
"You're right on. " Said Sado with a grin on his face before asking a question.
"But why does that matter? If you knew you weren't going to be targeted, why wouldn't you regroup with more members? "
" Would you let your little brother die to buy a few extra minutes of your life. " Amouage's feet slid apart, burying deep into the snow, as he sheathed his blade and glared at Sado. Sado's head was slightly tilted with a confused look on his face. Almost innocent.
"Yeah...I would. " This plain reply startled Amouage, whose face twitched in shock before he regained his composure and took a deep breath.
"You're nothing short of a tool. " A sharp gleam appeared in Amouage's eyes. " Let our duel begin. "
" Duel? " Responded Sado, glancing over Amouage's. Confused, Amouage glanced back only to see three silhouettes walking towards him, appearing from the trees.
" It would be cowardly for me to be the leader and run away while one of my precious comrades sacrificed his life. " Said Maison, walking towards Amouage with a grin on his face.
It was obvious to everyone that the grin was fake, but it still helped relieve the mood slightly. Sado's eyes scanned the three walking towards him before he closed his eyes, and a wave of energy swept through the forest. " He's still running? "
" Did you kill him? " Before Sado could finish his thought, Maison spoke, asking a question.
" Be more specific. But the answer is most likely, yes. "
" Those cuts look exactly like Nasomatto's technique. The elderly one with pure white facial hair. " Sado didn't respond, only nodding his head. As the blast in his hand strengthened, he fired it out of his hand.
...
" I-I need to get to them! " Screamed out a gasping Ormonde, desperately sprinting through the forest with sweat pouring down his blue skin.
His legs blurred as he hastily passed tree after tree, the sound of distant fighting ringing in his ears, his eyes narrowed, and he glanced down at his palm, tightly holding onto a cubic object glowing with purple energy.
" Hold on. Hold on! I just need a little more- BOOM
A blinding light flashed behind Ormonde, lighting the planet with a beautiful yellow hue as the sound of cracking hurriedly dashed towards Ormonde, who stopped, watching a cloaked figure hurling through tree after tree.
Until he came to a harsh stop, slamming into a tree, indenting deeply, splinters covered his clothes as blood quickly poured out of his mouth.
" Dior! " Roared out Ormonde, rushing to him before gingerly Dior held his bloody hand up and spoke with a weak voice.
" Don't stop. "Dior's eyes lost their light as his hand dropped down, colliding with the tree. Omronde paused in shock before snapping his head away from the corpse, running past Dior, gritting his teeth.
" No more weakness...They let me run. Me, of all people. " Mumbled Ormonde, tears forming in his eyes, only to be quickly frozen on his cheeks.
The purple energy flowing from the cube, strengthened now, crackling like lightning, making Ormonde's legs move even quicker until a figure flew past him, rolling in the snow with blood pouring down his face.
" Amouage! "
Amouage quickly shot his head over at Ormonde, stunned as he kneeled on the snow, his hands trembling, his blade shaking. Blood seeping onto the hilt, as he pushed off the ground, watching Sado walk towards him with a few minor cuts on his forearm.
" Go! Run! " Roared Amouage, dashing towards Sado, who ducked under a slash before spinning, throwing a powerful kick that Amouage barely blocked, sending him sliding back with smoke flowing off his blade.
" Don't be a coward! They all stopped to help your brother, but you can't! " Yelled Sado, slamming a punch into Amouage's chin, sending teeth flying off his mouth as he stumbled back.
" Don't listen to him! He's trying to get into your head; the others are already dead! Save yourself! "An array of slashes sliced towards Sado, who shot several blasts, which were all sliced in half, exploding, sending a shockwave through the air.
The smoke warped around Sado and Amouage, blinding Ormonde's vision, leaving only the brutal sounds of attacks ringing out. Until a quiet "Shh" entered his ears, making his pupils dilate as he ducked just in time, for a slash made of pure wind to sail over his head, slicing through countless trees, making them crash into the ground with thunderous bangs.
The smoke cleared, revealing Sado with his arms crossed, a deep cut lining his forearms, and yet he stood perfectly still, glaring down at Amouage, who was hunched over, gasping for air; his right eye was swollen shut.
" Still standing? " Asked Sado with a grin on his face.
" Not for long. " Responded Amouage, who dropped to one knee, as blood began to pour from his chest and mouth. A hole quickly formed in his stomach, and he collapsed to the ground with weak eyes.
" W-What did you do?! " Yelled Ormonde, stumbling back.
" That slash he did was impressive, but it left his stomach far too exposed. " Sado walked towards Amouage before his body flickered, reappearing directly in front of Amouage, snatching onto his neck, lifting him off the ground, in one swift motion.
" So, I shot a Ki blast through it. " Sado's grip tightened, as saliva and blood shot out of Ormonde as he desperately slammed his fist against Sado's wrist.
" They let you run for a reason, either you were too cowardly to turn back and help, or you have a plan and they believed they could stall longer than they could. Which is it? "Sado's grip loosened, dropping Ormonde on the ground.
Only for Ormonde to raise his right hand at Sado, before a shocked look appeared on his face. " W-Where is it?"
" If you're talking about the cube. " Sado looked to his right before pointing. " It's somewhere over there, I chucked it, right before I grabbed you. "
Ormonde's breath went silent, and a horrified look swept through his face.
His legs began to shake wildly as he lunged to his right, crawling through the snow, trying his hardest to reach the cube.
" It would make more sense if you stood up. " Mocked Sado following Ormonde as he crawled closer and closer to the distant cube.
" Are you not going to check on your brother... He might still be alive. He cared deeply for you. " Said Sado, before he reached down, grabbing onto Ormonde's ankle, dragging him back towards his brother's corpse.
Ormonde spun, kicking away Sado's hand with his free foot, shouting at him. " Don't act like you understand emotions, you monster! I'm scared as hell! You're nothing like me! "
" We're more similar than you think. " Sado towered over Ormonde, pointing his palm down as a glowing blast formed in his hand. " You sacrificed your brother for a few extra seconds to live. I would have done the same. "
" No, I didn't- "
" Let's stop the small talk. " Said Sado, cutting off Ormonde as the blast in his palm swelled. " The cube. It's obviously important. What does it do? "
" I-It's a tracking device. " Sado's eyes widened slightly as he closed his eyes and a wave of energy swept through, feeling every slight vibration in the forest until they reopened, and an annoyed look appeared on his face.
" Where are they then? I don't feel them. "
" Huh? " Gasped Ormonde, his heart pounding out of his chest. " N-No. No. No. They aren't coming to fight you; they're going to hide from you. "
" They plan on hiding their entire planet's population? " Asked Sado.
" We aren't like normal planets, counting me, there are only four more of us left. " Sado nodded before he crouched down, holding the blast inches away from his face, making Ormonde squint from the blinding light.
" See? You're just like me. You spilled all of the valuable information to cling to your life. I like that. " Sado's voice paused as he chuckled and whispered into Ormonde's ear.
"But you know what the biggest difference between you and me is? "
" W-What? " Mumbled Ormonde, sweat pouring down his face.
" I'm strong and you're not. "
Without a second thought,
Boom
The blast shot down, painting the snow crimson.
Ormonde's head was cleanly blown off. His headless corpse oozed blood. As Sado stood up and spoke.
" Now here comes the fun part, finding the rest...I have an odd feeling this is going to be one pain in the ass. "...
