The Serpent’s Heir

Chapter 31: Chapter 29: The Night the Fifth House Fell

The chamber shifted after the wand vanished.

Selene and Harry now sat on a stone bench, surrounded by flickering memories — moving like smoke on the air.

Each one a fragment.

Each one real.

The Beginning of the Fifth House

Selene spoke first.

"We were never supposed to be rulers.""The Fifth House was meant to observe, to preserve."

"We held the spells no one else would touch.Stored the names wizards feared to say."

Harry watched a memory pass by — young Kaelen, laughing by a waterfall of starlight.

Not a monster.

A brother.

"But knowledge burns," Selene whispered."And we let it catch flame."

The Great Division

The Vale twins were powerful, yes — but they weren't alone.

There was a third sibling.

Selene hesitated before saying the name:

"Evaran."

Not many remembered him.

He didn't want power. He wanted immortality.

And so, he broke into the seal chamber…And tore open the first rift.

"Kaelen tried to stop him," Selene said, voice shaking."But it was too late. The seal drank Evaran whole."

"And Kaelen—"

She turned away.

The Death That Wasn't

Kaelen didn't die that night.

Not physically.

"His soul went in after Evaran's.But something came back with him."

That something? The flame legacy.A shard of whatever lay behind the door — now housed inside Kaelen's bones.

Selene made her choice.

"I trapped them both. Evaran's hunger. Kaelen's fire."

"And you… Ardyn… you helped me bind it."

Final Scene – The Memory Shifts

Harry watched his former self — Althar Ardyn — seal the mark into Kaelen's wrist.

A child, barely thirteen.

Tears in his eyes.

"I'm sorry," young Ardyn whispered.

"One day, they'll forget. And I'll forget too."

Selene's voice pulled Harry back.

"But you were the only one strong enough to survive forgetting."

"That's why it's all returning now."

Harry stood.

"Because the Fifth House isn't dead."

"It's just waiting for me to reclaim it."
