Chapter 147: Mandala Star's Threat (Part 2)
At the Blue Star Energy Technology Group base in Chuanxing City, Xu Mo entered the research room.
A three-dimensional projection appeared before him, showcasing the boundless starry sky, where a fighter jet was attacking a warship. Compared to the warship, the fighter jet appeared much smaller, but the power of its attack was incredibly strong, able to unleash a powerful energy shock wave on the warship, resembling an energy net.
Soon, more fighter jets surrounded the warship, forming a powerful matrix and collectively launching attacks at it. Quickly, the warship was engulfed in the energy net, rendering it paralyzed and its engines failed, leading to its capture.
"This is a scene we recreated from the fighters we brought from the Deep Sea after conducting research. These fighters resemble small warships and are capable of combat in space, and they have the ability to capture warships."
Beside him, old Stark explained to Xu Mo: "This should be an ion cannon attack, a type of super weapon from an advanced civilization, capable of generating powerful energy interference that renders warships powerless. However, according to my research, ion cannons generally require large-scale equipment to launch and are best suited as super weapons for planetary defense against invading targets. Yet, the Deep Sea battleship civilization has already applied ion weapons to their fighter escorts. If there is a fleet like this, it would pose an extreme threat to warships."
"This is our next research target."
Xu Mo looked at the three-dimensional screen. If this could be achieved, the anti-air weapons deployed on Byron Star would greatly enhance its defense capabilities.
"As far as I know, the top planets in the Star System Alliance are already engaged in ion weapon research and have made some progress. We can collaborate with the Sasi Kingdom on the research," said an elder, an esteemed researcher from Lucas Star brought in by the Blue Star Energy Technology Group.
The group once frantically recruited researchers from Lucas Star, with Elizabeth's assistance, forming a very strong research team.
"No problem, I'll have the communications department contact them," Xu Mo nodded. The Blue Star Association was founded on the principles of mutual benefit and sharing, so they would likely not refuse collaboration on ion weapon research.
At this moment, Xu Mo's communicator vibrated, and he answered.
"Sister Butterfly," Xu Mo said.
"Xu Mo, the communications department has a situation. The Sasi Kingdom has sent a message stating that after occupying Lancelot Star on Mandala Star, a fleet has left Lancelot Star and entered this Star Domain. The order from Lucas Star is for the Alliance Army to intercept them. According to Sasi Kingdom's speculation, their targeted location might be Byron Star," Ye Qingdie said.
Xu Mo squinted upon hearing Ye Qingdie's words.
Lancelot Star!
Always Lancelot Star.
He's been patiently developing, hoping to delay being swept into this grand interstellar war, aiming for more development time and the growth of Byron Star. Dispatching a fleet to destroy the Black God Fleet was a significant attempt, opening the space battlefield for surprise raids and plunder.
If successful, they could deal with Camp Star in the future.
However, Mandala Star seems intent on attacking Byron Star. If the speculation is correct, it must be Lancelot Star that's inciting them.
"Do we know the number of warships in the fleet?" Xu Mo asked.
"The Sasi Kingdom reported that it's only a small fleet, the main troops aren't involved," Ye Qingdie replied.
"Approximately when?" Xu Mo asked.
"According to the latest message from the Sasi Kingdom, the Star System Alliance forces have already set off. If Mandala Star directly heads to Byron Star for the attack, Commander Qiu and his team might not make it back in time," Ye Qingdie said. "Should we notify Commander Qiu and his team to return?"
"No need, immediately inform Commander Ben to prepare for battle. Also, have the communications department spread the message to shift into war mode," Xu Mo instructed.
"Understood," Ye Qingdie nodded.
Xu Mo hung up the communicator. Old Stark asked, "Any news of war?"
"Mandala Star has a fleet departing from Lancelot Star, likely aiming for Byron Star. The Star System Alliance has already dispatched their fleet, but they haven't notified Byron Star here, so they probably won't assist us. We'll have to rely on ourselves for this battle," Xu Mo stated. "Mr. Stark, I'll arrange for the research department to evacuate, you'll be in charge."
The researchers are the foundation of Byron Star and must be protected.
"Understood," old Stark nodded, knowing it's not the time for pleasantries.
Xu Mo departed, heading to deploy the defense.
The entire Byron Star activated its defense measures, all major military bases became busy, the military was ready for combat.
The communications department, an essential sector formed after the base's establishment, was responsible for interstellar communications and monitoring alien movements.
Currently, everyone in the communications department was busy, eyes fixed on the equipment, searching for any potential signals. Any signal from space could be detected by the sensors.
"We have a situation."
A voice rang out, and on the huge screen ahead, a red area appeared, moving towards the location of Byron Star.
As the red area moved, the image gradually became clearer, the contour of the red area roughly simulated.
"It's a warship," said Ge Qing, the communications department head, as she stepped forward, "Calculate the distance, speed, and arrival time."
Five separate areas appeared on screen, marking five warships approaching them, arranged in a 'Tian' formation. Four warships occupied the peripheral points, while the largest warship was centralized.
"Send the message to the command center," Ge Qing ordered.
"Understood," someone executed the order.
Soon, Xu Mo, who was in the base, received the message. He forwarded it to Zero, then organized the relocation of Mia and Yaoer, activating all of Byron Star's armed forces, ready for combat.
Although the signals currently captured indicated only five warships, Xu Mo dared not be complacent. This wasn't the Black God Fleet nor the fleets from Camp Star. Previously, Xu Mo hadn't been too concerned about the allied twelve fleets, directly engaging them in space.
But this time, it's the Mandala Star Fleet. As an apex planet among intermediate civilizations, Mandala Star aims to transcend into the ranks of advanced civilizations. Their technology must be far superior to that of planets like Camp Star or even Lucas Star.
Technology translates to combat power, and Xu Mo was unsure of the strength of Mandala Star's warships. A few hundred years ago, Mandala Star managed to annihilate Byron with just one fleet, capturing Byron Star's highest leader at the time.
This time, their intentions aren't friendly, so Xu Mo mobilized all armed forces for potential battle.
"Sister Butterfly, have the President's Mansion issue a notice alerting the Federation citizens of Mandala Star's imminent attack and advising them to be ready for evacuation. Although at present, we're not certain of Mandala Star's target city, they should await further instruction," Xu Mo instructed Ye Qingdie.
"Understood," Ye Qingdie nodded, subsequently contacting the President's Mansion.
Soon, President Liu Feng personally issued the announcement, alerting of the warfare crisis.
For a moment, all of Byron Star was stirred.
Mandala Star strikes again.
It was said that Byron Star's infamous day of humiliation centuries ago was due to Mandala Star. And now, Mandala Star returns once more to Byron Star, instilling a powerful oppressive feeling among everyone.
Will history repeat itself?
If Byron Star faces defeat again, it may never fully recover.
However, compared to the past, the Federation citizens seem to have toughened up. They don't face the same panic from warfare as before. Ever since Xu Mo led the fleet to reclaim Byron Star and the Federation, they've realized that Byron Star is charting a different path. Their goal is the infinite cosmos.
War is inevitable.
Also, they hold an inexplicable trust in the current Federation Government. History will not repeat itself!
