The Seventh Base

Chapter 5: Flipped Over_2

"How much did he give you? I'll double it," Carter said, having heard that Xu Mo loved money.

For the sake of money, he taught people how to woo girls.

So, Ize must have also bribed him with money, right?

"No way, Ize is my good friend, my brother," Xu Mo refused, stating he wasn't that kind of person.

"Triple it," Carter continued.

"Ize gave me 100,000 interstellar coins, but it's not about the money for me; friendship is priceless," Xu Mo said.

"Five hundred thousand to make a friend," Carter said.

"..." Xu Mo wondered if he had spoken too little?

What a small scale!

"You know, I love making friends," Xu Mo said, then turned and led the way upstairs, where he found two books to give to Carter.

"Is it that simple?" Carter looked at him skeptically.

Those five hundred thousand came too easily!

"Ize was looking at this book," Xu Mo pointed to one and said, "You might want to take a look as well. As for the result, it depends on the perception."

The implication was, if you can't understand it and lose, don't blame me!

After Carter happily transferred the payment and left, Xu Mo's interstellar bank card had an additional five hundred thousand interstellar coins.

He couldn't help but wonder, why were they so wealthy?

Making money was so hard for him!

The two new stars of Lucas University Extraordinary Department, Ize and Carter, had fought again. This time Carter barely won. They had been going back and forth since the start of school and had fought countless times already, truly archenemies.

Rumors had it that their grudge had arisen even before registration, over a love triangle involving the same girl.

Now, a new rumor had it that after losing to Carter initially, Ize went to the library and then managed to defeat Carter.

Likewise, Carter also later visited the library and turned his defeat into victory against Ize.

So, what was so magical about their university library?

More students began to frequent the library, and a less credible rumor circulated that both Ize and Carter had been influenced by the librarian at the library.

The students of the Extraordinary Department scoffed at the absurdity of such rumors.

If the librarian had been some old expert, maybe, but the librarian they found at the library was about their age, a mere assistant—advising Ize and Carter?

Could the rumors get any more reliable!

However, a few who knew the truth understood that it was indeed the case.

The librarian at their university was truly extraordinary!

Library.

Xu Mo was reading.

From time to time, people came to watch him.

"Did you advise Ize and Carter?" a student from the Extraordinary Department asked.

"No," Xu Mo flatly denied.

"I knew the rumor was unreliable," that student said.

"Can you fight?" another person asked.

"A little bit," Xu Mo responded.

"You could come to our Extraordinary Department to observe and learn if you're free," the student generously offered.

"Sure," Xu Mo nodded.

As a few students turned to leave, they paused when they saw Ize heading their way.

Then, they saw Ize walk straight towards Xu Mo.

"Hmm?" they looked puzzled, and then listened as Ize asked Xu Mo, "Did you teach Carter?"

"Who's Carter?" Xu Mo claimed not to recognize the name.

"He came to the library last time to find you, blond and long-haired," Ize said.

"Now I remember, he asked me for a book recommendation," Xu Mo replied, "I just picked one at random."

Ize was skeptical, "He's my rival."

"Is that so?" Xu Mo innocently said, "If I had known, I definitely wouldn't have recommended anything. After all, we are friends."

"Aren't we too?" At this moment, another voice interjected, and Carter appeared beside Xu Mo.

"Um..."

Xu Mo looked around.

Things were about to turn messy!

"I still have work to do, I'll take my leave first, you guys chat," Xu Mo tried to slip away but was intercepted.

The two simultaneously stepped forward, approached Xu Mo, and trapped him in the middle, with bookshelves at his back and no way out on either side.

"Are you a Transcendent?" Ize asked.

"Theoretical sort," Xu Mo replied.

"Name a price so you won't recommend books to him anymore, how about five times more?" Carter suggested.

"Did you take his money?" Ize asked.

Carter turned to Ize, "Didn't you?"

"Stop!"

Xu Mo interjected, "We're all friends here, let's sit down and talk this out slowly!"

"We are not friends," Ize and Carter said in unison.

By now, both men were in on the game.

Good dog!

"Whatever price he named, I'll double it," Ize added.

"Wouldn't that be letting him off cheap?" Carter turned to Xu Mo, "Another fight, winner takes all."

"???" Xu Mo looked at both, was he some kind of object?

"What, scared?" Carter taunted Ize.

"Not at all," Ize responded.

"Alright, bring him along," Carter eyed Xu Mo, and both moved forward.

"What are you doing?" Xu Mo said, "This is the school library."

"We're inviting you to come and guide us," Carter spoke as he grabbed one of Xu Mo's arms, Ize grabbed the other, and they lifted Xu Mo and walked him out.

The surrounding crowd looked on in stunned silence, making way for them.

So, the rumor was true?

Zero stood in front, blocking their way.
