The Shimura Actually Has Ice Release

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: My Son Has the Bearing of a Hokage

"Humblebragging? What does that mean?"

Sakumo had never heard such a term and asked curiously.

"Uh, it means someone who speaks very humbly—it's a dialect from our Kirigakure," Takeshi hastily explained.

Sakumo nodded, making a mental note of it. Who knows, it might come in handy the next time he visits Kirigakure.

Under Takeshi's guidance, Sakumo and the others arrived at Takeshi's home.

"This place is..."

Gazing at the Hokage Tower not far away, Sakumo carefully tried to identify the area.

This was the central district of Konoha. Only the oldest clans who followed the First Hokage during the village's founding had managed to settle down here.

With Konoha's gradual development, the land here had become incredibly valuable—every inch worth its weight in gold.

"Long time no see, Sakumo."

At the front gate, Danzo stood in his trademark outfit. His body was still relatively strong, so he didn't use a cane. A faint smile rested on his face.

Ugh, that old geezer's smiling again.

Takeshi felt a chill down his spine.

As Danzo and Sakumo exchanged a few pleasantries, not only Takeshi but even Sakumo noticed something different in Danzo's aura.

After all, the Danzo of old would never bother with small talk unless it was with Hiruzen.

...

After finishing a meal no different from yesterday's, Takeshi wiped his mouth and got up to wash the dishes.

The food was just as salty as ever.

Having grown used to eating across from a living scapegoat Jinchūriki, Takeshi finally had the mood to really taste what was in his mouth.

Honestly, the praise he gave yesterday was a bit generous. At this level, his own cooking back in his previous life was better.

"Although you weren't at fault today, your methods were a bit reckless," Danzo said, stopping Takeshi just as he picked up the dishes and motioning for him to sit back down.

Given how closely Danzo monitored the Uchiha clan, the first to know about Uchiha Yōwan's medical condition would've been the doctor, the second a ROOT ninja, and only then would the patient and their family be informed.

As for the fourth—naturally, it was Fugaku with two balls hanging from his chin.

Comminuted...

You had to admit, Konoha's medical ninja training was a huge success—they could even restore that thing after it was shattered.

Was there something wrong with Ryōma's training?

Danzo couldn't figure out why his own son was so ruthless, and began questioning Ryōma's educational methods.

"Yes, I understand."

Upon hearing Danzo speak, Takeshi could only become the "Yes-man," nodding non-stop.

"These kinds of methods should only be used when there are no witnesses nearby, or when the target doesn't recognize your identity—understood?"

Danzo was quite satisfied with Takeshi's attitude.

That's the key point?!

In other words, as long as no one's watching, I can freely exploit their weaknesses?

Honestly, if I weren't so lacking in actual skills, I wouldn't have to resort to such disgraceful tactics in the first place!

As expected, the old geezer was still the same familiar old geezer.

"Seems like your training volume isn't enough. Starting tomorrow, you're doubling it."

Just as Takeshi was wondering how to gloss things over, Danzo's words hit him like a bolt of lightning.

Double the training volume meant double the beatings, and double the hand seal practice. How the hell was he supposed to survive that?

"I..."

Takeshi had just opened his mouth to voice his complaints when he met Danzo's solitary eye.

"What?" Danzo asked calmly.

"Thank you, Father. I'll work even harder."

Takeshi forcibly changed his tune, spitting out the words with great reluctance.

"Is that so? Good. You truly haven't disappointed me."

Danzo nodded in satisfaction.

His son truly had the bearing of a Hokage.

"That Uchiha friend of yours—you can continue associating with him. Just don't reveal anything about me to him. Understood?"

Danzo didn't forget to instruct Takeshi about the issue with Obito.

Although he held many prejudices against the Uchiha, Danzo had done extensive research on them. He knew well—they were a clan that valued emotions deeply. If someone became a true friend to them, they would give everything for that person.

Just like Uchiha Kagami back then...

Thinking of Kagami, who had died young, Danzo let out a small sigh in his heart.

The strongest of the Uchiha in his generation, and yet his life ended at just 25...

What a pity. Those Sharingan eyes never came under my control in the end...

"Understood, Father."

Takeshi continued nodding.

Father felt like a far too formal term.

Hearing it, and recalling how Kakashi addressed Sakumo, Danzo looked sternly at Takeshi and said,

"There's no need to be so formal at home. Just call me 'Dad.'"

"Okay, Dad."

Takeshi responded respectfully, taking the art of bootlicking to perfection.

It seemed like the old geezer Danzo had a pretty good impression of him. Though the training was harsh, the intent was ultimately good.

If he could just keep this up—survive the Nine-Tails incident, avoid Madara's army, and wait for Danzo to get ganked by Sasuke—then he could inherit ROOT, help Naruto rise to power, and enjoy a cushy retirement life during the Boruto era!

Takeshi was filled with delight at the thought, never considering how utterly laid-back and escapist his plan truly was.

"Alright, go review the materials I gathered for you. No need to worry about washing dishes."

Completely unaware of the rebellious thoughts in his son's mind, Danzo waved him off back to his own room.

Once back, the first thing Takeshi saw was his desk, stacked to the brim.

"What the hell is all this? Chakra: Beginner's Guide, Chakra: Advanced Techniques, Chakra: Mastery, Chakra: Perfection?"

Seeing the various scrolls bearing the Shimura clan crest, Takeshi felt a splitting headache.

He had only been a junior college student before he transmigrated. How was he supposed to digest all this complicated knowledge?!

And beyond the chakra guides, even heavier stuff awaited him.

"Introduction to Sealing Techniques, Mastery of Sealing Techniques, Sealing Techniques: Into the Earth? What the hell is 'Into the Earth'? Oh—Inner Four Symbols Seal. Never mind, then."

Seeing a high-damage seal technique that could reach "bridge-level" destruction, Takeshi immediately threw it far away.

"This one—Wind Release techniques passed down in the Shimura clan, oh hey. And this—holy crap, this is good stuff! A collection of the Second Hokage's Water Release jutsu?!"

Things were getting interesting—Wind Release and Water Release techniques.

Ice Release was a combination of Wind and Water chakras, and Danzo knew that. That's why he specifically dug up Tobirama's jutsu.

To become a master of Water Release, an abundant chakra supply was essential.

Otherwise, where others would create a lake with a Grand Waterfall Technique, someone low on chakra might only manage a puddle.

Although Takeshi didn't have Senju blood, with his Ice Release kekkei genkai, his chakra reserves weren't quite at Chakra Monster level—but more than enough to surpass Kakashi.
