Chapter 88: [89] Singing competition this semester?
Seeing that the time was almost up, the group said goodbye and returned to their own classrooms.
As soon as Shouko returned to her seat, she thought of Miu's angry expression just now. In her memory, aside from being called out to stand in the corridor by Teacher Minagawa, the number of times Miu had been angry could be counted on one hand.
Thinking of the technique Tsuna had taught her, she suddenly wanted to try its power herself.
Shouko turned her head quietly and glanced at Tsuna beside her. After confirming that he wasn't paying attention, she raised her right hand under the table and was about to try it when Tsuna's voice interrupted her action:
"I suggest you don't try it, Shouko."
Before Shouko could ask, Tsuna chuckled and added, "Of course, you won't regret trying it. Just don't hit it too hard; it hurts."
That last sentence completely aroused her curiosity. Ignoring his teasing eyes, she raised her hands to the tabletop and began to follow the steps he had taught her earlier, slowly.
"Ah..." Shouko felt a sharp pain in the tendons of her right wrist, but it quickly faded.
Tsuna looked at her cute reaction, chuckled, and shook his head. Curiosity really could kill. Shouko's stormy little punch followed.
But she had barely used any force; just a light touch, and it lifted. It seemed Shouko was still afraid of hurting herself. Hey...
Time quickly passed, and it was now the last physical education class of the afternoon. The entire class brought their schoolbags to the gym.
As the bell rang, everyone naturally lined up. Takeuchi stood at the front of the line, looked at them, and shouted:
"As usual, find a partner first, then start warming up, and afterward you're free to play."
Tsuna looked at him speechlessly. He clearly remembered that during the first PE class, Takeuchi had dragged out a whiteboard and carefully arranged the lesson content, instead of just letting everyone do a simple warm-up and then wander off.
When school started, Aunt Nishimiya had called him and specifically told him that Shouko couldn't do any strenuous exercise, as it might worsen her hearing impairment.
So at the beginning, he only let Shouko do some warm-up exercises and then sit aside to watch. Eventually, everyone did the same as Shouko.
He walked to a corner of the gym and sat down to play with his phone. As for being afraid of being caught, he wasn't. He instantly put away those useless thoughts and slowly walked over to Shouko.
She looked at him with a guilty conscience and said, "Tsuna… I promised Miyoko I'd partner with her today, so..."
.
"Okay, I'll go find someone else," Tsuna interrupted before she could finish.
Seeing her guilty expression, he gently reassured her: "It's fine, don't worry about me. I just happened to need to ask Teacher Takeuchi something."
It was also good to let Shouko stay and play with girls her own age. It always felt like something was missing when she was always by his side, and as long as she didn't go off with the boys, it was fine.
Tsuna raised his hand and rubbed her head. Without waiting for her to respond, he slowly walked to the corner of the gym to find Mr. Takeuchi, who was slacking off.
Sitting on the ground with his back against the wall, watching a funny video, Takeuchi noticed someone approaching. Looking up and seeing it was Tsunayoshi, he quickly put away his phone and asked with concern:
"What's wrong, Miyamura? Is something the matter?"
"Nothing, I just want to ask you something, Mr. Takeuchi." Tsuna sat down casually next to him, showing no particular formality.
His words piqued Takeuchi's curiosity. He looked at him curiously and asked, "What do you need to ask me?"
Over the past month, he had observed this child.
He was always listless in class, and with Takeuchi's own laid-back attitude, he rarely cared about students sleeping during lessons. Most couldn't last more than five or six minutes without falling asleep.
But this kid seemed to have two brains; one sleeping, the other listening to class. His grades never dropped.
Besides Nishimiya, Miyamura barely interacted with his classmates. But it wasn't that he was withdrawn or introverted.
How to describe him? He gave the impression that he disdained playing with the other boys. To put it bluntly, he found them too childish.
Takeuchi had been a homeroom teacher for several years, and kids with that personality were often the easiest targets for exclusion or bullying, but no one dared provoke this one. Except Ishida, who had issues.
"Mr. Takeuchi, does our school have a class singing competition for the sixth grade every semester?"
His question pulled Takeuchi out of his thoughts and back to reality.
Without hesitation, he nodded. "Yes. It's held every year. Why?"
After hearing the confirmation, the corners of Tsuna's mouth lifted slightly, though he quickly suppressed it and shook his head. "Nothing. I just need your help with something, Mr. Takeuchi."
Seeing a hint of hesitation in the teacher's eyes, he continued before Takeuchi could speak:
"Don't worry. It's not a big deal, and I'll ask my dad to sponsor some extra prizes for this year's singing competition."
"Tell me first, and I'll see if I can help."
Takeuchi was indeed a little tempted. In previous years, the champion only received a paper certificate and a mention in front of the whole school.
Tsuna ignored the reply and said confidently, "As long as our class participates normally, I guarantee we'll win first place."
Takeuchi didn't respond right away but turned the words over in his mind. Was this the same as saying the prize was already guaranteed? There had to be something more behind it.
Takeuchi smirked and reached out to ruffle his hair, saying softly, "Okay, tell me what's going on first. Don't try to bribe me with promises."
Seeing the hand coming, Tsuna quickly moved away. Amid the noise of the gym, he calmly explained the situation and the help he needed.
"You little brat. I thought it was something serious," Teacher Takeuchi laughed and scolded while watching Tsuna walk away. Then he pulled out his phone again.
"Tsuna, what did you talk to Teacher Takeuchi about? You were gone for so long," Shouko, who was already resting, looked at him as he sat down next to her and asked.
Because he had gone directly over, sat down, and chatted with Teacher Takeuchi in front of everyone, nearly the entire class had seen it, and now they were all curious.
Shouko's words made everyone's ears perk up.
