Chapter 20: Chapter 20: The Darkness Spreads

"You're not alone, Peter."

MJ's words echoed in my head as I swung across the city, the cool night air doing little to calm my nerves. Telling her the truth was a weight off my chest, but it didn't solve the bigger problem.

The symbiote was still inside me.

Still whispering.

Still waiting.

"We are part of you now… why fight it?"

I landed on a rooftop overlooking Times Square, the lights below blinding. My hands trembled as I pulled off my mask and took a deep breath.

No more running.

Earlier, Stark Tower.

Tony was reviewing the data Daredevil and I recovered from Oscorp's lab.

"Okay, so good news," he said, spinning the holoscreen toward me. "We found Osborn's final production site. Bad news? It's a literal fortress."

I sighed. "Great. Just what I needed."

Daredevil leaned forward. "We have to move quickly. Osborn's planning a full-scale release of the symbiote across the city."

Tony nodded. "Yeah, and if that happens, we'll be dealing with a whole lot of creepy black goop monsters running around."

I clenched my fists. "Then let's shut it down."

Tony gave me a sharp look. "Parker, are you sure you're good? Because last time, you almost—"

"I'm fine," I cut him off. "We do this tonight."

Oscorp Biotech Division – 1:00 AM.

We moved in from the rooftop, my body tense with anticipation. Daredevil led the way, his heightened senses detecting guards before they even came into view.

"Three guards at the south entrance," he whispered.

I nodded and shot out web lines, yanking them off their feet and sticking them to the wall. "Easy."

We slipped into the facility, the hum of machinery filling the air. Rows of symbiote containers lined the walls, pulsating ominously.

"This is it," I muttered. "Karen, scan for Osborn."

"Target located in the main control room. Warning: high threat level detected."

Daredevil turned to me. "You up for this?"

I hesitated for a second too long. The symbiote inside me stirred.

"Embrace us… we can win…"

I shook my head. "Yeah. I'm ready."

We moved deeper inside, but before we could reach the control room, a blast knocked us off our feet. I rolled, my head spinning.

And standing in the doorway, grinning like a lunatic, was Green Goblin.

"You didn't think it would be that easy, did you, Parker?" he sneered.

I groaned, getting to my feet. "You really need to invest in better security."

Goblin threw a pumpkin bomb, and I leaped over it, webbing it mid-air and tossing it back at him. It exploded behind him, sending sparks flying.

Daredevil moved in, striking at his legs, but Goblin swatted him away with his enhanced strength. "Pathetic," he sneered.

I fired web after web, dodging razor bats and glider strikes. "I don't suppose you'd just… surrender?"

Goblin cackled. "Not tonight, Spider."

He pressed a button on his wrist, and the symbiote containers burst open. Black tendrils slithered out, latching onto the guards, transforming them into monstrous hybrids.

"Oh, come on!" I groaned. "That's cheating!"

Daredevil and I fought side by side, taking down one symbiote-possessed guard after another, but it was getting harder to hold back.

My punches hit harder. My webbing felt stronger.

I could feel the symbiote inside me trying to take control.

"Let go, Parker… we can end them all…"

I screamed, firing a web blast that sent multiple enemies flying. Daredevil glanced at me, concern in his expression. "Parker…?"

I breathed heavily, shaking. "I'm fine. Keep moving!"

We pushed forward, reaching the control room. Osborn was waiting, standing behind reinforced glass, watching with his signature smug grin.

"You're too late, Spider-Man," he said over the intercom. "The symbiote's already spreading."

I pounded on the glass. "Shut it down, Osborn!"

He smirked. "Make me."

With a flick of his wrist, the room filled with gas.

"Not good," Daredevil coughed.

I webbed up a vent and pulled us out, landing in the corridor. My head spun, my body felt heavier. The symbiote inside me was reacting to something in the gas.

"Time to let us in, Parker…"

I stumbled, gripping my head.

Daredevil grabbed my arm. "Peter! Stay with me!"

I looked up, and for a brief moment, my reflection in the glass wasn't me. It was something… darker.

I pushed Daredevil away. "I… I need air."

I burst through the emergency exit, collapsing onto the rooftop. The city skyline blurred around me.

The symbiote was winning.

Meanwhile, inside Oscorp…

Osborn watched with satisfaction, leaning back in his chair.

Dr. Octavius stood beside him, arms folded. "The boy is slipping."

Osborn chuckled. "Oh, he'll break soon enough. Then he'll finally understand… true power."

He pressed a button, activating more symbiote release points across the city. "And once he does… nothing will stop me."

Back at the rooftop…

I gasped for breath, trying to fight the growing pressure inside me.

MJ's voice echoed in my mind. "You don't have to do it alone, Peter."

I closed my eyes. "I… I can fight this."

Suddenly, a hand rested on my shoulder. I looked up to see Daredevil standing over me.

"You're not losing," he said simply. "You're still in control."

I nodded slowly, wiping the sweat from my brow. "Yeah… yeah, I am."

We stood together, looking out at the city, knowing that this war was far from over.

But I wasn't going to lose myself. Not yet.
