Chapter 745: 745 The heaviness of the river 1

Dujuan immediately knelt down, “Young Lady, I was wrong, I shouldn’t have said too much, I just meant well for you…”

“If it weren’t for her, my father wouldn’t have made it through tonight.” Gratitude filled Tao Meijiao’s eyes, “Friends are friends, and Su Qingyue is a businesswoman. Her goods are sold to the highest bidder. It’s only our fault that the Tao family doesn’t have the strength of Jin Xun. If Su Qingyue had sold me the bayberry wine and dried fern at a low price, it would have been better to just give me the money directly. Besides, Su Qingyue had already fried the eight dishes in front of me before Jin Xun and Manager Duan came, not hiding the recipe from me. Although the taste is not as good as the fern-infused version, I can still cook them. Su Qingyue has already helped me a lot.”

“I was short-sighted and didn’t think about so much…please forgive me, Young Lady…”

“Get up. Don’t talk too much about my affairs in the future.”

“I understand.”

On the main street, Jin Xun stood at the street corner, watching the carriage disappear from his sight, unable to regain his focus for a long time.

His servant Ji said, “Master, don’t think too much about it. Su Qingyue is the wife of the Xiao family and already has a husband.”

“Didn’t you find out that the news from Wushan Village says that Su Qingyue is still pure and clean?”

“But still, she belongs to the Xiao family…”

Jin Xun narrowed his eyes, “I have a feeling that the Xiao family won’t be able to keep Su Qingyue.”

“Master, you can’t be thinking…”

“I, Jin Xun, would never want a woman who has been touched by a few men.” Jin Xun’s lips curved into a smile, “A woman who has maintained her purity and is so intelligent would be worthy of being my wife.”

“Master…”

“Tomorrow, you go to Wushan Village. Su Qingyue said that besides the eight dishes, she also has a recipe for fried dried fern. Let her teach the chef at Drunken Immortal Pavilion.”

“Yes.”

Xiao Yuchuan drove the carriage back to Wushan Village with his wife and weeds, and before leaving town, bought several bags of vegetable seeds.

It was already evening when they returned to the village.

In the yard, Xiao Qinghe placed a sand table on his knee and practiced writing with a tree branch. Seeing that Su Qingyue and Xiao Yuchuan had returned, he immediately put the sand table on a bench beside him and turned his chair towards them, “Wife, third brother, you’re back.”

Su Qingyue nodded slightly and got off the flatbed cart.

Xiao Yuchuan led the flatbed cart to the shed and tied the stiff rope to the shed pillar.

The two didn’t bring back much food or daily necessities.

Since the second brother went hunting in the mountains, he said he would return before nightfall, and as long as he went up the mountain, he would rarely return empty-handed. So, they didn’t buy any vegetables.

Xiao Qinghe knew that his wife went to town to find buyers for the dried fern and bayberry wine. She didn’t mention it, so he didn’t ask, and simply said, “I’ll go and cook dinner.”

Seeing that there was no more grass for the horse by the courtyard fence, Xiao Yuchuan walked outside, “I’ll go cut grass to feed the horse.”

Su Qingyue watched her third brother leave the yard. He was silent all the way back, and didn’t seem happy that she had made so much money.

Earning so much money might have put pressure on him, she thought.

Cutting a load of grass was quite fast; there were many weeds growing on nearby mountains, and Xiao Yuchuan returned within an hour.

The sky had just darkened.

The chickens, ducks, and vegetables that the Xiao family bought earlier were all eaten up.

Even the sun-dried fish that Su Qingyue had caught in the river was down to just a few jin.
