Chapter 143: [143] The Fourth Person Appears

Chapter 143: The Fourth Person Appears

A date, in its original meaning, refers to a scheduled meeting between two or more people. It simply means an agreed-upon meeting and does not necessarily have to be romantic in nature.

So, there was nothing wrong with Shunsuke inviting Eriri and himself to go out as a group of three.

If anyone thought otherwise, it was purely their own misunderstanding.

Therefore, Eriri blushing now was entirely her own issue—it had nothing to do with Shunsuke.

Watching Eriri, who had turned into a steaming kettle while speaking, Mashiro gently squeezed her hand and asked, "Eriri, do you not want to go?"

"I-I wouldn't say that… No! I mean, I want to take care of you, Mashiro!"

"Then let's go together."

"…Alright."

A natural schemer versus a tsundere—Mashiro had Eriri completely under her control.

"Let's take a taxi there."

Now that he had money, Shunsuke naturally wasn't going to be stingy. Meanwhile, before heading out, Mashiro grabbed a small bag filled with art supplies.

Shunsuke patted Mashiro's head. "You don't need to bring all that when we're going out to have fun."

Mashiro shook her head in refusal, so he didn't press the matter.

The three of them arrived at the taxi stand, where Mashiro enthusiastically rushed to the front, waving at passing taxis without hesitation.

Whatever else she might be unsure about, hailing a cab was a skill she had mastered from the very beginning—though no one knew who had taught her.

A taxi pulled up, driven by a chubby middle-aged man. Mashiro opened the back door and got in first, followed closely by Shunsuke. Eriri pouted and was about to take the front passenger seat when Fujii Shunsuke grabbed her hand.

Under the driver's puzzled gaze, Eriri, her face flushed, was pulled into the backseat. The three of them squeezed together, and without hesitation, Shunsuke casually draped an arm around both Mashiro and Eriri's waists.

—Young people these days… I don't understand them anymore.

The driver shook his head inwardly, sighing to himself.

...

They arrived at the department store, and naturally, their first stop was a clothing store.

Even though Mashiro didn't care much about fashion and Eriri's school outfits were the only thing she wore outside—her usual at-home attire being a painfully outdated green tracksuit that she never changed—their instinctive first move in the mall was still to browse clothes.

Shunsuke was already bored.

Then, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a nearby store selling Tokyo Disneyland merchandise—including Mr. Pan, the panda-cat mascot.

—Yukinoshita Yukino… seems to like this, doesn't she?

Yukino liked cats, and since no one in the world disliked pandas, the combination of the two was unbeatable.

Even though Mr. Pan's fierce expression and bared fangs made him look anything but cute, The Bamboo Hunt of Mr. Pan was one of the most popular attractions at Tokyo Disneyland in Chiba.

Waiting two to three hours in line was completely normal.

Without thinking, Shunsuke walked over, ready to buy one.

—This is the true mark of a player. Going on a date with two girls and still thinking about another one? Absolutely shameless.

Speaking of which, Tokyo Disneyland was clearly built in Chiba, yet it was called Tokyo Disneyland. Isn't that kind of weird? Feels like a scam.

Fun fact: One of the best ways to annoy your friends from Chiba—

"What does Chiba have besides siscon characters?"

"Oh, and Tokyo Disneyland."

Chiba has nothing else.

Regional bias exists everywhere, no matter the country.

Just as Shunsuke finished purchasing Mr. Pan, Eriri and Mashiro happened to come out of the previous store. As expected, they hadn't bought anything.

"Mashiro not buying anything makes sense, but Eriri, why didn't you get at least one outfit?"

"Because none of them were durable enough."

Despite being a rich girl, Eriri's standards were surprisingly practical.

Shunsuke covered his face. "Of course, compared to that tracksuit of yours, everything seems less durable. If you're this picky, you won't find a single outfit today. Since when do luxury brands care about durability?"

"…I knew it. Then forget it. Shunsuke, let's go check out some more normal stores instead."

As they chatted, Mashiro and Eriri naturally leaned in on either side of Shunsuke. Blonde hair, white stockings, petite and adorable—when they were out together, they looked just like sisters.

Unsurprisingly, Shunsuke found himself the target of countless envious, jealous, and resentful gazes.

Basking in the jealous stares, Shunsuke walked forward with a satisfied heart, leading the two girls along.

Suddenly, Mashiro stopped in her tracks, her ethereal eyes fixed on a store beside them.

Shunsuke followed her gaze and saw that it was a pet store specializing in cats. Inside, Mashiro's attention was completely drawn to a cute ragdoll cat.

"If you like it, let's go in and take a look."

Shunsuke patted Mashiro's head. Their apartment allowed pets, and although he was already taking care of one helpless little kitten, if this kitten wanted a pet of her own, he wouldn't stop her.

"Mhm."

Mashiro's tone lifted slightly as she pushed open the pet store's door and walked straight up to the ragdoll cat, staring at it in silence.

"Meow—"

The ragdoll cat stood up, its fur bristling, staring at Mashiro with clear tension.

Mashiro kept staring.

"Meow meow—!"

The poor kitten became even more anxious.

"Eh? Eh?" The pet store employee seemed flustered. "Excuse me, miss, are you carrying something unusual? Ragdoll cats are usually very gentle. They almost never act like this."

Mashiro's expression showed a hint of regret.

"Sorry, maybe this little cutie thinks another cat is trying to take its territory. Can we feed it something?"

Shunsuke's words left the store clerk baffled. Ignoring the first half of his sentence, the clerk forced a polite yet awkward smile. "Apologies, but the cats here have fixed feeding times."

Shunsuke shrugged and gently pulled Mashiro up. "Looks like you won't be able to befriend this cat."

Though, honestly, he doubted it would have made a difference even if they had food. Unlike Yukino, Mashiro seemed to naturally repel cats. Was it some kind of same-species repulsion?

Mashiro followed him out of the store, looking a little downcast. Just then, from the dog section across the way, a long-haired miniature dachshund came sprinting toward them.

"Wait, Sable!"

—Ah, that voice and tone were way too familiar. Yui, how many times a day do you lose your dog?

The dachshund, freshly groomed and off-leash, glanced back at its anxious owner before continuing to run without a second thought.

"Sable, you shouldn't be so disobedient."

As the dachshund dashed past him, Shunsuke bent down and effortlessly scooped it up by the scruff of its neck.
