The Strongest Curse Master

Chapter 405: Busted: Blood Betrayal

"Mom, your baby boy used my credit card to buy an adult video game last month," Lyra stopped hitting her brother and ratted him out.

"Mom, she is lying. We all know for a fact her credit cards are maxed out," I defended, only to hear my mom shout, waving the meat cleaver at us, "Stop it and go to your room, I will deal with you two later."

"But mom—"

"Mom—"

"Get moving!" Mary snapped her kids and then turned to Mandy, instructing, "You go change into something dry before you catch a cold."

Mandy nodded and followed her niece and nephew into the home without arguing, after nodding a goodbye to her bestie.

Mary's gaze sternly followed the trio as they entered the house and headed to their rooms. Then eyeing Lilith returning while sucking on a popcicle, she turned sharply to face Janice and extending the meat cleaver, she said, "Did you know Lilith has been carrying this thing around? What if she cut herself or others?"

"I know you guys are busy, but that doesn't excuse you from not doing your duty as a guardian of an eight-year-old. Additionally, thank you for not going to the authorities and coming to me about Ace. My husband and I will look into it, and if he is guilty, I will personally break his limbs and make him apologize to you till you are satisfied, but if he isn't, you'd better find a new place to stay," Mary infromed Janice, trying to be as polite as possible. She liked the latter much better on screen than in person. She regretted not slapping her unconscious when she found the latter clinging to her son, out of sheer rage.

Listening to Mary, Janice subtly smirked, wondering what Ace would do now. Come clean and get punished, or lie and throw them out of the estate. She looked forward to how this would play out and couldn't help but think, 'This is going to be fun.'

Taking the meat cleaver from Mary, Janice apologetically thanked, "Thank you for your help. I promise I will be more alert from now on. I hope she didn't create much trouble for you."

"No, Lilith was a delight. But she does have a huge appetite for someone of her age. Anyways, if you ever need a babysitter for her, I wouldn't mind looking after her for a few hours," Mary offered, finding Lilith to be more well behaved then her grown ass kids.

"Thank you, you are too kind," Janice said politely before leaving, while Lilith followed, waving goodbye at Mary.

Once Janice and Lilith's figures were out of her sight, Mary's eyes turned cold as she turned and looked at the first floor of the house. Today, she was both embarrassed by and disappointed in her kids. She headed into the house with heavy steps, but her phone on the counter buzzed.

It was a message from Pam, reading:

[ Mary, I will be late, don't wait up for me, and have breakfast. I decided to meet up with all of Danny's teachers and the counselor to check if there are any chances of him graduating and being accepted into a decent university this year. I will have something from the school vending machine. And don't prepare the lunch, I will bring pizzas and pies.]

[Okay.] Mary let out a long sigh as she replied to her sister-in-law, knowing the latter was worried about Danny's future, especially with her son planning to graduate early. Also, it was no secret in the family that Danny wasn't cut out for farming.

If not for the money they came into recently, she would be panicking more than Pam. Because she knew her son better than anyone, and he was by no means an early graduation material, like he had her husband fooled.

Despite her doubts, she didn't care what the father and son pair were up to. Having grown tired of the busy and expensive city life, she didn't mind her son choosing a career in agriculture. She could see herself living with her grandbabies in the peaceful countryside.

Speaking of her son, he had better have a valid explanation prepared for her, or she wouldn't wait for his father to break his limbs. Because no son of hers will grow up to be a psychotic stalker. She raised him better than that.

Resolving herself, Mary headed upstairs. Nearing her son's room, she heard her daughter's voice from it. She hurried her steps, hearing, "Die you wombstealer, Die!"

"Lyra!" Mary yelled, hurrying into the room to find her daughter flinging her son's toys at him in anger while he skillfully caught them and placed them down safely.

"Mom, don't stop me. Your favorite crossed a line this time. I was crying the whole ride over, all because of him. Today, I will teach him a lesson," Lyra did not stop, she continued to try and hit her baby bro with his dearest action figures. She tried her best, even using curse energy. Unfortunately, she failed to consider the stats difference between them. Her attacks were akin to a child's tantrum to him.

"Wait, ride? Did you drive a car?" Mary instantly caught the taboo word. Listening to her, Lyra finally stopped and hurriedly explained, "No, Mom. I took a cab."

"Where did you get the money to hail a cab?" Mary asked skeptically, her gut told her Lyra was lying.

"Geez, Mom, what's with this third degree—" Lyra tried to play the 'Mom, you are too controlling' card, but Mary countered with, "You better answer me, young lady."

"I have my savings. I used to work with decent pay, not so long ago, remember," Lyra shouted, but her eyes averted from meeting her mother's gaze. As it was no secret that with Lyra's spending habit, her savings had long dried up. Especially with her joining a fancy art course in another city.

"Lyra Lander, are you borrowing money from your father again? I don't blame you, I blame him. He is spoiling you rotten," Mary immediately guessed, her husband was giving their daughter a small allowance behind her back.

"Mom, at least I took money with Dad's permission," Lyra defended herself, eyeing Ace before proceeding with a big reveal, "Do you remember at the mall, last month, when you were missing a 20-dollar bill? Ace took it!"
