As Asahi released two consecutive ninja techniques, although the chakra consumption was negligible, he decided to stop.
Not for any other reason, but simply because he was teaching his students, not showcasing his talents on a stage.
Two ninja techniques were enough for Konan to practice for a while, any more would be overwhelming for her.
"So, do you still like these two ninja techniques?" Asahi asked with a smile. Konan happily nodded, "Yes, I really like them."
"Have you remembered the hand seals I used just now?"
"Yes, Master," Konan replied.
"Very good. Let me explain what you need to focus on when practicing these two techniques."
Asahi continued. "Firstly, you need to have exceptional chakra control to fold the origami into the required shape as quickly as possible. During the folding process, you must also adhere the chakra to the surface of the paper following specific patterns. This ensures the strength of the origami and protects it from environmental influences."
"For example, on a rainy day, the origami won't get soaked because of the chakra protection. The chakra attachment patterns vary depending on the different ninja techniques. It's best if you can figure them out by yourself. This will greatly benefit your casting speed and the development of your ninja techniques."
After sharing this wealth of information, Asahi paused for a moment and looked at Konan, who was nodding seriously. "Rest assured, Master. I understand what you mean."
"Very well. Here are the prepared origami sheets for you."
With that, Asahi waved his sleeve, and a multitude of origami sheets appeared in his hand, surprising Konan.
She hadn't expected Asahi to have prepared so many origami sheets. After all, teaching her these ninja techniques seemed like a spontaneous decision, right?
Wait... that didn't make sense.
Konan remembered Asahi's composed expression when she had tested her chakra attributes earlier. While he had appeared seamless on the surface, that was precisely where the issue lay.
Considering how much her master cared about her on a daily basis, how could he remain so composed after learning that her chakra attributes were not particularly strong?
So, there could be only one explanation!
"Master, did you already know that my chakra attribute strength wasn't high, and you planned to teach me this Paper Ninjutsu from the beginning?" Konan stared intently at Asahi, trying to discern something from his gaze.
Unfortunately, Asahi, experienced as he was, showed no signs of embarrassment after being exposed. Instead, he simply smiled and squinted his eyes.
"That's right, Konan. You caught me. I did plan this in advance. If I hadn't figured out your talents by now, I wouldn't be much of a master."
You're admitting it so openly?
"Master!! You're really too much! You made me worry for nothing!!" Feeling Asahi's teasing gaze, Konan shouted indignantly.
Asahi didn't seem to mind at all. In fact, he found Konan's mix of anger and embarrassment quite amusing.
"So, you don't want to learn this type of ninja technique? Well, I can teach you something else," Asahi raised an eyebrow, his smile mischievous.
Konan suddenly froze, her face turning rosy. She couldn't tell if it was from anger or shyness. "No! Um... I mean, I'd still like to learn this. I think it's quite nice. You don't have to trouble yourself, Master."
Asahi shrugged. "It's no trouble at all. I have plenty of ninja techniques to teach."
"No, really, Master. I like this type of technique. By the way, does this kind of technique have a name?"
To prevent Asahi from bringing up the topic of changing her training, Konan quickly changed the subject.
Asahi easily saw through her intentions but decided to go along with it. He didn't want to embarrass Konan.
"A name, you say? How about 'Shikigami no Mai'?"
"Shikigami no Mai'?" Konan murmured softly, savoring the sound of the name. The more she thought about it, the more she liked it.
It perfectly matched her preferences and the expressive nature of the technique. It sounded beautiful and was visually appealing.
"Master, that name sounds amazing!" Konan nodded in satisfaction.
Well, of course, it sounds good to you; you came up with it yourself.
Asahi chuckled internally, showing no signs of his true thoughts. He was not about to let Konan see his playful side.
In reality, Asahi merely nodded faintly and said, "Since you like it, let's call all the techniques in this series 'Shikigami no Mai,' shall we?"
Konan excitedly nodded her head. "Really, Master? That's fantastic!"
"Alright, let's not waste any more time. Give it a try, and I'll correct you from the sidelines."
Sensing the chakra fluctuations coming from a distance, Asahi knew that Yahiko and Nagato had already begun their training. He didn't want to chat further and urged Konan to start practicing.
"Yes, Master."
Konan replied promptly, not holding back at all. She stashed away the extra sheets of paper into her ninja tool pouch, leaving only one, which she controlled with her chakra to hover in the air.
Then, Konan formed hand seals with one hand while simultaneously using her chakra to manipulate the paper, folding it into the shape of a shuriken.
It must be said that Konan possessed strong chakra control and excellent paper-folding skills.
With ease, she crafted a paper shuriken. However, after completing the hand seals and infusing the shuriken with chakra, it did not behave like Asahi's version, piercing into a tree trunk upon contact. Instead, it was instantly deformed under tremendous pressure when it touched the tree trunk.
"Pay attention to the chakra attachment patterns on the paper's surface; it's not uniform."
Asahi calmly reminded her. Konan nodded softly and continued her attempts.
Once, twice...
It took Konan a full three days to figure out the chakra distribution pattern for the paper shuriken.
Meanwhile, Yahiko had successfully learned a C-rank Water Release jutsu, and Nagato, with his incredible talent, was proficient in using multiple ninja techniques.
In the following days, Konan focused most of her efforts on learning and developing the Shikigami no Mai. Asahi stood by, offering guidance and helping Konan progress rapidly.
Yahiko and Nagato continuously learned a plethora of ninja techniques, honing their hand seals' speed to perform jutsu swiftly.
Asahi and his two shadow clones, in addition to teaching the trio, steadily improved their own abilities.
Master and disciples spent this precious period of peace in a secluded corner of the Hidden Rain Village, silently honing their skills.
They patiently awaited the next opportunity to make their mark on the world.
