The Super Queen Of The Pokemon Era

Chapter 74: CHAPTER 74

c74: Beijing University's Clown Senior

These were the final days of the Cold Moon Festival break.

Leng Yue was overjoyed that Chen Xiaoxiao could accompany her during this time even if only on the journey back to university.

Over the past few days, Leng Yue had taken Chen Xiaoxiao on a tour of many famous landmarks in the capital.

Even though the historical trajectory of this Pokémon world differed from their previous one,

many iconic places from their past life remained nearly unchanged in structure and legacy.

For instance, the Forbidden City here known as the Imperial Palace of the Dragonite Dynasty was erected by a royal family that ruled long before the founding of the Pokémon League.

Their family crest was said to include a Charizard, and the structure echoed the real-world Forbidden City almost identically. Though Chen Xiaoxiao had never visited it in her past life, this tour led by Leng Yue felt strangely familiar.

As they explored, Chen Xiaoxiao often remarked how similar it all was to the online images she remembered from her former life.

They also visited the Great Wall rebuilt in this world by the Terrakion Reign to defend against wild hordes of Garchomp and Rhydon before Poké Balls were invented.

This time, Leng Yue made sure to take Chen Xiaoxiao to a restored stretch of the wall, fulfilling one of Chen Xiaoxiao's long-held dreams.

After all, there was a line frequently quoted by past heroes, even in this world:

"He who has not scaled the Great Wall is no true Champion."

Of course, becoming a Champion was a fantasy in this life.

They also visited the Temple of Heaven, known in this timeline for hosting annual blessing ceremonies for newly bonded Trainers and their starter Pokémon.

The Temple of Earth, the Old Summer Palace, and the Summer Palace still stood proud.

One garden, left untouched by war in this world, was home to roaming Bellossom and a unique breed of Sunflora.

After touring those ancient landmarks, Leng Yue brought Chen Xiaoxiao to some modern attractions.

Chen Xiaoxiao had already been to the Bird's Nest Arena, now famously used for the Pokémon League's regional qualifiers.

But it was the Water Cube, repurposed here as the official site for the synchronized Trainer-Pokémon water relay, that caught her off guard.

"To think it's used for Trainer-and-Pokémon dual diving?!" she gasped.

Apparently, the "double jump" was an event where synchronized flips between human and Water-type Pokémon like Vaporeon or Milotic were judged based on grace and timing.

"Amazing! Only in the Pokémon world could competitive diving evolve like this!"

Happy moments flew by like a Dodrio in full sprint.

In the blink of an eye, the final morning of August had arrived.

Inside her room, Leng Yue was folding clothes while Chen Xiaoxiao lent a hand.

Aunt Qin bustled outside, helping organize her daily essentials.

The scene was reminiscent of when Chen Xiaoxiao used to help her pack during their Pokémon high school days.

"Xiaoyue, I've got your daily supplies ready. Are your clothes sorted yet?" Aunt Qin called from outside the door.

"Almost done! Don't rush me! I seriously don't know which clothes to take!" Leng Yue groaned.

If she brought too many, they'd be a pain to store on campus.

But if she brought too few, she'd leave behind all the outfits she really liked.

Such a dilemma!

Women's wardrobes were like Mimikyu mysterious and unmanageable.

If she were a guy?

A Poké Backpack and a good pair of shoes like Ash in Kanto would've been enough to travel the whole region.

"Come on, Xiao Yueyue," Chen Xiaoxiao sighed, half laughing. "A woman's closet is always missing one perfect outfit. Just bring what you bought during our last shopping trip!"

(Gardevoir, watching from her Poké Ball, shuddered in shared confusion.)

"Ah! That's right!" Leng Yue brightened. "Those dresses from Goldenrod Mall were perfect!"

She packed them up excitedly

Until a sudden realization hit her.

"No wait! It's almost winter! That last haul was all light clothes! What now?!"

Leng Yue's voice was full of distress.

"Miss Leng," Chen Xiaoxiao chuckled, "You're not moving to a remote cave guarded by an Articuno! You'll be coming home on weekends. Just bring clothes for this season. And if you need more, why not pop by the Silph Boutique near campus?"

Leng Yue blinked then grinned.

"Yes! That makes sense! That's perfect! Let's go!"

And just like that, her panic vanished.

After packing up the luggage, and after Aunt Qin had repeated several reminders about school safety, proper etiquette, and daily routines, Leng Yue could finally head out.

"Mom, I'm heading out now!"

Leng Yue called, giving her a warm hug.

"Alright, be careful. Xiaoxiao, sorry to trouble you."

Aunt Qin nodded with a smile, eyes lingering warmly.

"It's no problem. I've got free time anyway and I've always wanted to visit Beijing University."

Chen Xiaoxiao replied, adjusting her cap slightly. A glint of curiosity was visible in her eyes after all, this wasn't just any university. It was one of the elite Pokémon academies under the League's Eastern Division.

After bidding farewell to Aunt Qin, the two girls boarded a Common car.

Why a Common car?

Because Leng Yue's usual mode of transportation her Champion-class official vehicle was far too conspicuous. The number plate bore a silver Royal Crown insignia, signifying her title as the "Cold-Hearted Champion" under the Sinnoh-League Transfer Agreement.

The driver today was none other than Uncle Li, the same loyal family chauffeur who had served them faithfully since Leng Yue began attending Pokémon High School four years ago.

In just under twenty minutes, the car pulled up to the grand gates of Beijing University, its walls lined with Trainer statues commemorating past League Champions who had graduated from the institution.

After stepping out of the vehicle, Leng Yue turned to Uncle Li.

"Head back first, Uncle Li. It's just a university. I don't need escorts here."

She said this calmly. After all, Leng Yue was nearly an adult now and not someone who needed bodyguards to shadow her every move in the capital especially with someone like Chen Xiaoxiao, a former regional Champion in her previous life, by her side. Compared to Uncle Li, her combat instincts were far superior.

As the two approached the entrance, several students seated at a welcome desk noticed them.

"Whoa! Look at those two girls are they freshmen? They're gorgeous!"

One of the senior students at the gate, Senior A, nudged his friend excitedly.

"They must be new. I've been here long enough l I know every attractive face on campus, and I'd remember someone like her. That blonde alone gets 100 points. Don't even care if she's proud!"

His friend, Senior B, looked up from his Pokédex he was playing a mini-game involving synchronized dancing Ludicolo. But upon seeing the pair walking toward the entrance, his eyes widened.

"The one with black hair's stunning too!"

Senior A commented.

"She's pretty, sure but the blonde? She's in another league. I'm going in. You hang back!"

Without waiting, Senior B leapt to his feet, adjusted his jacket, and moved confidently toward the girls, leaving a groaning Senior A behind.

"Hey there! Are you two freshmen at Beijing University? I'm a sophomore here and part of the welcome committee. My name is uh…"

Senior B's sentence trailed off awkwardly. His presence faltered as soon as he came face-to-face with the girls.

A background extra trying to speak in a legendary battle? Laughable.

Without giving him a second glance, Chen Xiaoxiao and Leng Yue walked right past him, their stride effortless and elegant.

"Ha ha ha!"

Senior A, still seated, slapped his thigh in laughter upon witnessing Senior B's crushed ego.

Flustered, Senior B rushed after them.

"Wait! Sorry! I didn't mean to intrude. It's just if you're freshmen, you're not allowed to enter until someone from the reception staff officially processes your arrival. That's University policy!"

He hurriedly blocked their path.

"Oh? Really?"

Chen Xiaoxiao turned her head with a gentle smile.

In her previous life, she had attended Unova's Castelia Academy, one of the top Pokémon universities. She'd seen every kind of trick and excuse used by students to talk to others. Was he really trying to bluff his way into being relevant?

"Yes! That's how things work at Beijing University."

Senior B stood taller as her attention remained on him. His heart raced her smile felt like a fairy attack, graceful and disarming.

"Is that so? Then why don't we just check with a university faculty member?"

Chen Xiaoxiao said to Leng Yue, eyes gleaming mischievously.

Leng Yue, wordless, reached into her bag and pulled out her official Pokédex the one with a platinum crest of the League Champion Selection Committee.

As soon as Senior B caught sight of the device, panic set in.

What!? These were freshmen? With direct faculty contact? How did they even have that access?

He had assumed they were just ordinary first-years who wouldn't question his bluff.

In desperation, he tried to salvage his standing.

"You two might be strong, but don't forget the Student Union has real power here. Offending seniors before school even starts? That won't end well. Think this through!"

It was a thinly veiled threat but it sounded more like a desperate whimper.

Chen Xiaoxiao and Leng Yue exchanged a knowing glance.

Chen Xiaoxiao, without a word, casually flipped her wrist.

A bronze Contest Medal appeared in her palm emblazoned with the Hoenn Contest Seal and awarded only to Coordinators who had reached Master Rank in three regions.

She pinned it to her jacket in one smooth motion.

Senior B's pupils shrank. His body froze. That badge how?! Cold sweat trickled down his forehead, his legs unsteady.

"I'm just wondering," Chen Xiaoxiao's voice turned cold. "At Beijing University, is strength respected more or is it those who pretend to have authority?"

She smiled faintly, eyes like Glaceon's icy gaze.

"Come on. Let's not waste time on garbage."

Leng Yue said lightly, tugging Chen Xiaoxiao by the wrist as they brushed past the trembling Senior B, his pride shattered completely.
