The Superior Female Lead Pampers Her Husband Without Limit

Chapter 29: The Superior Female Lead Pampers Her Husband Without Limit 29

The dishes they packed—spicy shredded potatoes and braised pork—came in wooden food containers. The plates could be taken home, but they required a small deposit. Next time they came to town, they could return the containers and get their deposit back.

Strangely enough, Jewel didn't feel out of place in this new world at all. In fact, she blended in easily, like this was where she truly belonged.

She figured it was probably because, in her past life, she loved everything ancient and traditional. She had acted in many historical dramas and read countless novels set in this type of era. So, when she ended up in this world by chance, it felt like she had arrived in the place she always dreamed of.

She had seen schools, banks, and teahouses in town, and even overheard scholars talking about Confucian values and customs.

Maybe the overall structure of this world was very similar to the society she used to live in, which made her feel so comfortable and at home.

Anyway, she had now started to feel hopeful and excited about what her future life would be like.

"Wife, why did you stop? Aren't we going home?"

Jewel suddenly stopped the carriage and lifted the curtain with a big smile. She reached out to her husband. "Xavi, come down and have a look."

"What is it?"

Xavi took her hand and got out of the carriage. Right in front of them were three long lines of people.

He could read a little and saw that the lines led to a pastry shop with a sign that read "Guangshun Zhai" in big letters.

"I heard when we paid at the restaurant earlier that there's a famous pastry shop in Chong'an Town called Guangshun Zhai. People say their pastries are really good."

Jewel tied up the carriage and gently held Xavi's soft, fair hand. "Let's go check it out. I'll buy you something tasty."

Xavi had come around to it by now. He no longer worried about how much money they were spending. After all, Jewel clearly wasn't short on money.

Besides, even if he said not to buy anything, she would do it anyway. Since he couldn't stop her, he might as well just accept it.

Plus, she was willing to spend money on him and treat him well—why should he say no to that?

Now that their home was comfortable and they had everything they needed, he wanted to live happily with her and be a good, supportive husband, making her days pleasant and worry-free.

As Jewel held his hand, Xavi's heart was full of joy.

The sparkle in his eyes and the natural, sweet smile on his face made Jewel freeze on the spot. She stood there staring at him, completely enchanted.

It wasn't until Xavi leaned against her shoulder and gently shook her arm, whispering, "Wife~" that she finally snapped out of it.

Jewel's body stiffened a little. She was surprised by how affectionate he was being, but mostly she was overjoyed.

He was being sweet and acting cute with her, right?

Yes!

Definitely!

She was sure she had seen the same glow in his eyes today that she'd seen when he first returned home and spoke to her sister. That light made her heart ache in the best way and filled her with warmth.

Her dear husband… was he finally letting go of his fears and showing his true feelings?

A bittersweet, heartwarming feeling rushed over her. She just wanted to hold him tightly, keep him close, and love him with all her heart.

Jewel wrapped an arm around Xavi's slim shoulders and gave him a bright smile. "Alright, let's go."

She protectively led him deeper into the crowd, and the two of them happily joined the line at Guangshun Zhai to buy pastries.

What neither of them knew was that it wasn't just Jewel who was captivated by Xavi's radiant smile. Across the street, a woman had been watching him since he got off the carriage. Once again, he had caught her interest…

Even though the line was long, the shop's staff was quick and efficient, so it moved along at a good pace.

Before long, the two of them were back at the carriage, each holding a large bundle of pastries carefully wrapped in oil paper. They were all smiles as they headed home.

Xavi sat comfortably in the carriage, looking at all the snacks piled up in front of him and the redwood food container from Xichuan Tavern at his feet. Thinking about his wife and the life ahead, he couldn't stop smiling.

Back when he was still unmarried, he wouldn't have even dared to dream of such a peaceful and worry-free life.

Now all he wanted was for everything to stay this calm and steady. He planned to study more, learn to read and do calculations, so he could help Jewel manage their household in the future.

Outside the carriage, Jewel was thinking about her mother-in-law's illness. She wondered if Mingfeng had managed to call a doctor and get medicine.

She couldn't help but worry. Illnesses that were easy to treat in the modern world could become serious here if not taken care of properly.

"Xavi."

"Yes, wife?"

"Let's find time to visit your family again and check on Mother."

It was the first time Xavi had seen a woman so eager and frequent about visiting her in-laws. Usually, wives were unhappy when their husbands wanted to visit their family too often. After all, if the husband went home, no one would be there to do the housework.

But Jewel was nothing like those other wives. She often brought him back to visit. It didn't even feel like he had married out of the family…

"Whatever you say, wife."

"Let's go tomorrow then. We can bring some of these pastries for your parents. Oh, and we'll take some of our rice too. Mother can have some porridge to help her recover."

She was also planning to search through her storage space later and see if there was anything else that might help with healing. Recovery was a slow process and needed proper care.

Xavi listened to her and felt deeply grateful.

Luckily, his in-laws were kind and understanding people. They didn't pick on him or create trouble. If it had been some other family, they might've already scolded him for how much Jewel cared about the South family.

The next morning, after Jewel helped Xavi change the medicine on his arm and they had breakfast, they started preparing to visit the South family.

She made sure to change the bandages on his injury every morning and night. Now the wound was healing well, and it wouldn't be long before he didn't need medicine at all.

While she was alone, she had checked her storage space again but still didn't find anything suitable to bring along. So she decided to just bring more of what they already had at home.
