Chapter 2: Start of the journey
Beerus halted in his wobbly movement, his irritation growing. "By the way, Raphael, I still can't see anything. What can we do about that?"
Raphael responded in its usual calm tone:
Beerus closed his nonexistent eyes and focused. He could feel the faint energy in the air, like a soft hum that surrounded him. As he concentrated harder, the voice chimed in again:
The moment he accepted, his mind was flooded with information. Thousands of sensory inputs overwhelmed him, rushing in all at once. It was as if he was seeing, hearing, and feeling everything in his environment simultaneously. The sheer volume of data gave him a sharp headache.
"Ugh, what the hell is this?!" Beerus grumbled, his form wobbling erratically.
Raphael interjected swiftly:
Beerus groaned. "Fine, do it. Just make it stop!"
The overwhelming flood of sensations instantly subsided, and Beerus suddenly found himself able to perceive everything around him in stunning clarity. It wasn't like normal vision; it was a 360-degree awareness of his surroundings.
Beerus glanced—or more accurately, "sensed"—around him. "Oh wow, I can see now!" he exclaimed, a hint of genuine excitement in his tone. He noticed vibrant particles of light floating in the air, shimmering in various hues. "What are these colorful things I'm seeing? Is it dust?"
Raphael answered:
Beerus observed the sparkling particles with fascination, his grin growing wider—or at least his equivalent of one. "So, these are the building blocks of this world, huh? Interesting. I guess this 'Magic Sense' thing isn't so bad after all."
He stretched—or rather wobbled—his slime form in anticipation. "All right, now that I can see, let's move on to the fun part. Where are those monsters you mentioned earlier? I'm itching to test my new skills."With his newfound vision and determination, Beerus prepared to explore the cave and face his first challenges in the cardinal world. Though this was a far cry from his life as a God of Destruction, he couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement. This world was proving to be more interesting than he expected. For two months, Beerus stayed within the dark expanse of the cave, slaughtering every monster that dared cross his path. He used his unique skills—Predator and Gluttony—to devour them, absorbing their abilities and growing stronger with each kill. Over time, he gained a host of new powers, adapting to his slime body and mastering his control over magicules.
But as time passed, Beerus began to feel limited in his current form. One day, after a particularly challenging fight with a Cave Serpent, he muttered, "Raphael, this slime body is convenient, but it doesn't feel like me. I want my old form back. Can you make that happen?"Raphael responded without hesitation:
Beerus smirked—or as much as a slime could. "Do it."
Moments later, his gelatinous body began to shift and transform. In a swirl of magicules, his familiar, humanoid form emerged—tall, sleek, with purple fur, pointed ears, and piercing golden eyes. He flexed his fingers and stretched his limbs. "Hah, much better. This feels right."Over the next few weeks, Raphael continued to feed him information about the world, its history, and its structure. Beerus learned about the hierarchy of power: the Demon Lords, the True Dragons, and the fact that Veldanava—the supposed Creator of the cardinal world—was no longer alive.
That revelation shocked Beerus. "How can a so-called God die?" he muttered, his tail flicking in irritation. After a moment, he chuckled darkly. "So, he just threw all of his work at me and ran away, huh? That sly bastard. Figures he'd make me clean up his mess."Despite his annoyance, Beerus couldn't help but feel intrigued. A world with such fascinating rules and powerful beings was worth exploring—and dominating.
As Beerus contemplated his next steps, Raphael suggested a bold plan:
Beerus grinned. "Perfect. And the monsters in this forest? Tell me about them."
Beerus stretched his limbs and smirked. "All right, Raphael. Let's get started. It's time for the God of Destruction to make his mark on this world."With his plans in motion, Beerus set out from the cave, ready to take on the Jura Forest, its inhabitants, and anything else this strange new world dared to throw his way. His domination was just beginning.Raphael's voice echoed in Beerus's mind as he left the cave, his humanoid form striding confidently through the dense forest.
Beerus raised an eyebrow. "Ramiris, huh? What's so special about her?"
Beerus folded his arms, his tail swishing lazily behind him. "A Demon Lord, huh? Sounds interesting. And how does one become a Demon Lord?"
Beerus chuckled darkly. "Fair enough. I've got no problem slaughtering monsters. Besides, it's been a while since I had a challenge. All right, let's meet this Ramiris and see what she can offer me."
With his aura suppressed, Beerus leapt into the air and began flying toward the labyrinth. He didn't rush, taking his time to explore the forest and test his abilities further. Every time a monster crossed his path, he effortlessly dispatched it, devouring its essence with Predator. Each kill made him stronger, adding to his growing collection of skills.
It took a full week for him to reach Ramiris' Labyrinth, not because the journey was long, but because Beerus enjoyed himself along the way. He relished every battle, every opportunity to grow stronger. When he finally arrived, Beerus landed before the entrance to the labyrinth, a grand structure carved into the earth, radiating faint magical energy. He placed his hands on his hips, his golden eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"So, this is Ramiris' place," he said, looking around. "Doesn't look like much, but I've learned not to underestimate things in this world."
Raphael's voice chimed in:
With that, he stepped into the labyrinth, ready to meet the Queen of the Fairies and take the next step in his journey to becoming a Demon Lord.
