Chapter 9: Chapter 10: The Fall of Control
The ravine shook as Kael, with white hair and blue snake eyes, faced some awakeners. The power from the god's trial was still in his veins, and he could move blood like a toy. Lira stood next to him, her blade ready, as an awakener ran at them, gauntlet shining. Kael grinned, made a blood whip from a dead beast, and tripped the man, smashing his head fast. Blood splashed around.
Two more came, shooting energy. Kael stopped it with a blood shield, then jumped in. He grabbed one by the neck and broke it quick, while his whip squeezed the other until it fell. A wraith came, but Kael poked it with a blood stick. He was winning easy, super strong, until the last one dropped.
Then he got very tired. His eyes went blurry, and the monster blood made him weak. His hunger grew big. Lira ran to help, her neck near, her heart beating loud. In a fog, Kael bit her, drinking her blood. She yelled, then stopped moving as he took it all. He felt bad too late and fell next to her, blacking out.
He woke up hours later, the ravine quiet. The Alchemy of Eternity whispered, "The pact needs blood to keep you alive." He learned Lira died because of him and the pact. He felt so sad and guilty. He got up slowly and left the city, leaving the Chronovault and fights behind, a lonely vampire in the wasteland.
