Chapter 3: Cats And Dogs
Yang was still playing with Corins hair, being careful not to ruin it, only brushing it.
And she wasn't getting charged for it.
If your wondering why it's because she promised to braid his hair whenever he wanted in exchange for free reign in playing with his hair. (He was horrible at braiding his own hair even in his old world.) She even added that she could do many different hair styles. Also, Corin liked how she messed with it. Don't tell anyone that though. [This last part was a message from me, the system. If he knew I did this he would
So here they were, sitting on their sleeping bags in the auditorium waiting for Ruby. Yang messing with his hair delicately while Corin was scrolling on well... his scroll.
[They should of just called it a Phone.]
'Yeah, but it's not like Scroll is a bad name, it does look somewhat like a scroll.' Corin thought to himself.
Suddenly he felt a weight on his shoulder, Yang now had her head there. "What ya looking at?"
"Porn." Corin said straight-faced.
[This is why you were single in your past life master, no one-]
"Oh~ let me see!" Yang looked at the scroll only to see Remnants version of Amazon, Atlantis. "You lied to me!"
[I... stand corrected...]
"It was a joke." Corin sighed.
"Buy me something to repay me for the cruel damages you've done to my heart." Yang dramatically spoke.
"N-"
[New! Side Quest: Sugar Daddy]
'Oh god... why is it called that.'
[Because. Wouldn't you like to know the requirements for completion?]
'Let me guess, buy her something'
[Yep! The rewards is 200 lien. And the punishment is your scroll gets broken.]
'...I can profit from this...'
[You are scum master]
'Shut it.' Corin opened the search bar and looked at Yang... jeez her face was to close, oh well. "What do you want."
"Wait for real? Hmm... how about a new bike helmet."
"Alright."
Corin searched what she wanted, the first option was cheep but rated low.
The second was expensive but rated unnaturally high.
The third was just right, a reasonable price with a natural high rating.
Corin bought the third for her.
[Issuing rewards now.]
"Wow... you really did it..." Yang was astonished.
"Yeah, don't think it'll happen to often." Corin sighed 'Probably will only do it if it's a quest.'
[You are truly scum.]
'I'm not as bad as Lloyd from that one webtoon.'
[I despise the fact I have to agree with you.]
Corin felt arms snake around him, when he looked down he saw familiar gloves. "What are you doing Yang?"
"Your comfy."
"...Whatever."
Yang and Corin continued to look at his scroll, watching videos and doom scrolling.
Onlookers only thought that they were a couple that was desensitized to the area around them to the point they didn't notice their excessive PDA.
A couple of minutes later, Ruby finally arrived. Yang shot up and dragged Corin with her.
'Why do I feel like this will be a frequent event...'
[Probably because you reek of bottom]
'Oh god do I really?'
[No, but Yang is definitely a top.]
'...Ok then.'
Yang waved Ruby over, "Ruby! Over here! I saved you a spot!''
Ruby looked over to a blond boy next to her, "Oh! Hey, I-I gotta go! I'll see you after the ceremony!" Ruby then walked towards Corin and Yang.
"Hey, wait!" The boy sighed as Ruby left, "Ah, great. Where am I supposed to find another nice, quirky girl to talk to?!"
The blond moves away while a red headed woman look on him with her hands on her hips.
[She definitely wants that blondie]
'System... seriously?'
[What!? Look at her! That's the face of a—]
'Ok shut up.' Corin was starting to get a headache from this system.
"How's your first day going, little sister?" Yang smiled down at her little sister, her arms crossed.
"You mean since you two ditched me and I exploded?" Ruby glared at Yang and Corin.
"Yikes! Meltdown already?" Yang winced.
"No, I literally exploded a hole in front of the school! And there was some fire, and I think some ice...?" Ruby cried out.
"Wait why am I being yelled at? I was drug off."
[You would of went with yang anyways.]
"You would of come with me anyways Mario Mario~." Yang smiled at Corin flirtatiously.
'...Hey system can she see you?'
[No. She just knows you too well.]
"Anyways! Are you being sarcastic or something Rubes?" Yang smiled broadly.
"I wish! I tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, and then she yelled at me, and then I sneezed, and then I exploded, and then she yelled at me again, and I felt really, really bad, and I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!" Ruby ranted as the girl she was ranting about closed in on them.
"YOU!" Weiss screamed.
Ruby jumped up, some how ending up in Yangs arms while Corin now held her scythe that almost whacked him in the head. "Oh, god, it's happening again!"
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" Weiss ranted.
'...but there's no cliffs near where we left Ruby?' Corin thought to himself.
[She wants an excuse to be a bitch.]
"Oh my God, you really exploded." Yang seemed to be trying to hold in her laugh while still being shocked.
"It was an accident." Ruby got down from Yang and looked at Weiss, "It was an accident!"
Weiss brought a pamphlet titled "DUST for dummies and other Inadequate Individuals" up to Ruby.
"What's this?" Ruby questioned.
Weiss entered business woman in a commercial 101. She started listing off policies to a clueless and horrified Ruby, going faster and higher pitched with each word, "The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarize themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field."
"Uhhhh..?" Ruby looked at Yang and Corin for help, they only shrugged.
"You really wanna start making things up to me?" Weiss scowled.
"Absolutely?"
"Why is she saying that as a question?" Corin whispered to himself.
"Would you want to make it up to her?" Yang whispered back.
"Good point." Corin shrugged.
"Read this, and don't ever speak to me again." Weiss pushed the pamphlet into Rubys chest.
"Look, uh, it sounds like you two just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?" Yang tried to intervene.
Ruby put the pamphlet away, "Yeah! Great idea, sis!" Ruby held out her hand as she cleared her throat, "Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!"
"That's not gonna work..." Corin sighed under his breath.
[Like you know anything about making friends Master.]
'Oh shut it.' Corin rolled his eyes.
"Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, blond, and scraggly over there!" Weiss sarcastically pointed at Jaune.
"Hm?" Jaune looked up for a moment.
"Wow really!?" Ruby's eyes sparkled for a moment.
Weiss glared at Ruby, "No."
'Bitch.' Corin thought to himself.
[Bitch indeed Master]
Everyone's attention was then drawn to the stage, where Professor Ozpin is readying the microphone, with Glynda beside him.
'Oh, Glynda! Her hair does look nice... must be the shampoo.'
[Master your too obsessed with hair care.]
'You don't have hair.'
[...Fuck you.]
'Fuck you too.'
"I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction." Ozpin looks into the crowd, looking at Corin uncomfortably long, "You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."
'He reminds me of a priest that would force me to say limericks and then cheat on me.' Corin thought.
[...Kierei Kotimine...]
['The utter worse'] Corin and the system said at the same time.
As Ozpin left, Glynda stepped forward "You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed."
"Looks like we put out our sleeping bags in here for no reason Yang."
Yang looked down, "Sorry man, thought we'd sleep here."
"It's fine..." Corin said, semi strained.
"Anyways, That Ozpin guy. He seemed kind of... off." Yang switched the topic of the conversation.
"It's almost like he wasn't even there." Ruby added.
"As long as I'm not forced to speak in limericks." Corin rolled up his sleeping bags.
"Your a weird man Corin..." Yang smiled down at Corin.
'Hypocrite.'
Jaune approached Weiss from the side, "I'm a natural blonde by the way."
Weiss put her hands to her face and loudly sighed.

In the ballroom, the first night at Beacon began, students splayed out in sleeping bags. Some talking others trying to sleep.
Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, was writing in a journal when Yang crashes next to her, similarly dressed. With her is Corin, counting money that he had just gotten from people who had wanted to touch his hair. (A bunch of women... and a couple of men.) He wore a blue set of pajamas, with a red wolfs head sewn into the pocket on the shirt. His shirt was unbuttoned, revealing the white tank top under it that barely hid his figure.
"It's like a big slumber party!" Yang said as she flopped on the sleeping bag.
'That had to hurt...'
"I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though." Ruby said, not looking up from her journal.
"I know I do." Yang purrs as she watched Corin stretch, not realizing she was watching him.
All of a sudden, Jaune, dressed in feetie pajamas, waved to her which makes her groan before she returns her attention to Ruby. "What's that?"
"A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going." Ruby smiled at the letter.
'Hm. Cute.' Corin thought before he laid down in on his sleeping bag next to Yang.
"Aw, that's so cuuuute!" Yang said before she was knocked back by a pillow that was launched at her face.
"Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!" Ruby said while blushing in embarrassment.
"What about Jaune? He's... nice! There you go! Plus one friend! Then there's Corin, he's obviously down with being friends with you, That's a two hundred percent increase!"
Corin gave her a small thumbs up from his sleeping bag before laying back down.
"See!" Yang gestured to Corin.
"Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend. Which means I'm at one." Ruby said as she rolled onto her back.
"One is better than zero." Corin, the ever so helpful added. He is hit with a pillow.
"There's no such things as negative friends! You just made two friends and one enemy!" Yang is hit with another pillow. "Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!"
The trio notice a new light appear near them, a girl with a black bow, Blake, had lit up a candle to read her book as she leaned against a wall.
"That girl..." Ruby studied the black bow girl.
"You know her?" Yang asked.
"Not really. She saw what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything." Ruby responded.
'Why do I feel like I'm gonna get dragged again.'
"Well nows your chance!" Yang grabs Ruby and Corin and drags them towards Blake.
"Wait what are you doing-" Ruby started to wave her hands.
'I knew it...'
[Master... you know your stro- you know what never mind. This should be funny enough for the gods.]
"Hel-looooo! I believe you two may know each other?" Yang pushed her sister forward.
"Aren't you... that girl that exploded?" Blake looked up from her book for a moment, looking up at the trio in front of her.
Corin looked at her for a moment.
'...Why do I have the urge to fight he..?'
[Because of your blood line Master]
'Huh?'
[Your half Faunus from your dads part, Wolf Faunus.]
'...That sure does explain the outfits and the oversized canines. But what does that have to do with the urge to fight her?'
[I'm gonna let you figure that one out by yourself.]
"Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby! But you can just call me Crater..."Ruby smiled, embarrassed, "Actually, you can just call me Ruby."
"Okay." Blake looked at Corin for a moment, she looked scared for a moment before calming down, "And you?"
"My name is Mario Mario, first name Mario, last name Mar-" Corins curse forced him to say.
"His name is Corin Lockheart, he seems to have the tendency to introduce himself as Mario Mario at first." Yang sighed as she explains.
"Ah... okay then." Blake looked at Corin for a moment before shaking her head and looking back down to her book.
"What are we doing?" Yang whispered to Corin and Ruby.
"I don't know, I was forced to be here." Corin deadpanned at Yang.
"I don't know - help me!" Ruby whispered back.
"So... What's your name?" Yang asked.
Blake sighed, as she was distracted from her book once again. "Blake."
"Well, Blake, I'm Yang, Ruby's older sister! I like your bow!" Yang started to grasp for straws.
"Thanks!" Blake, slowly starting to get more irate, spoke.
'Her bow... it looks weird...' Corin scowled a bit in thought. 'Oh well, everyone has their weird fashion trends.'
"It goes great with your... pajamas!" Yang smile was faltering.
"Right..."
'Abort Mission.' Corin thought to himself silently.
"Nice night, don't you think?" Yang tried again as Ruby laughed nervously and Corin started to make X's with his arms.
"Yes - it's lovely! Almost as lovely as this book!" Ruby and Yang stand there, Corin starts to leave but Yang grabs him by the shirt collar, "That I will continue to read." Ruby, Yang, and Corin (not by choice) continue standing, "As soon as you leave!"
Yang faces Ruby, "Yeah, this girl's a lost cause."
Ruby, ever relentless looked at Blake, "What's it about?"
Blake looked up, surprised, "huh?"
"Your book. Does it have a name?" Ruby asked again.
"Well... i-it's about a man with two souls, each fighting for control over his body." Blake fidgeted with her book a bit.
"Oh, yeah... That's real lovely!" Yang said sarcastically as she leaned against Corin.
'Ah, Jekyll and Hyde-esc situation. Good choice.' Corin thought to himself, meanwhile the system was processing something behind him to where he couldn't see.
[This shouldn't be possible... he should have the urge to rip out her throat... this... oh well, this makes it more entertaining for the gods... Jeez he's really breaking a bunch of our stuff GOR.]
"I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!" Ruby explained with a wide smile.
"And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?" Blake said after laughing a bit.
'That would never happen.' Corins pessimism leaked out.
"Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!" Ruby smile faltered.
'...Poor innocent child...' Corins pessimism growerd.
"That's... very ambitious for a child." Her smile turns into a frown. "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale."
"Glad we can agree on that one." Corin said out loud on accident, his pessimistic tone weighing down on the three girls.
But Ruby, her and her innocence, shook her head, "Well, that's why we're here! To make it better."
Yang scoops Ruby up into a hug, having her hover over the floor. "I'm so proud of my baby sister!"
"Cut it out!" Ruby hollers, as the forced sisterly bonding evolves into a dust cloud of fighting limbs and flying stars.
"Sorry about them." Corin used a pillow to block the random things flying at him as he rolled his eyes.
Blake started laughing silently, "Well, Ruby, Yang, Corin, it's a pleasure to ha-"
Storming onto the scene in her own pajamas as Ruby traps Yang's leg, was Snow White herself. Weiss.
"Oh great it's the bitch." Corin whispered to himself, but Blake heard. And seemed to appreciate the attitude.
"What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?" Weiss, ironically, screamed at them. Being louder than the group was.
"Oh, not you again!" At the sight of each other, Weiss and Yang said in unison.
"Shh! Guys, she's right! People are trying to sleep!" Ruby brought her finger to her lips in a Shhhshing motion.
"Oh, now you're on my side!" Weiss snarked.
"I was always on your side!" Ruby cried out.
"Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice!" Yang used her 'Big Sister' skill.
"She's a hazard to my health!" Weiss screamed.
"Your a hazard to my health." Corin snarked.
"EXCUSE ME?!" The white haired heiress looked at Corin, full of rage.
Blake, who rolls her eyes at the fight, simply closes her book, reaches over to grab her candle, and blows it out, enveloping the group in black.
