Chapter 270: Orb Of Phantasamal

BZZZZZZZT! BZZZZZZZZZT!

"Ugh..."

I woke up with a pounding headache as I snoozed my watch.

I felt like every thought I had was all over the place.

That dream was weird... Did I pass out on the balcony? Or the floor?

Wait... how did I end up on the couch?

ACK!

Another strain of headache and I'd have to take Panadol..

But I couldn't shake the memory of that strange dream before I blacked out on the balcony. I had seen a girl with no face and blonde hair.

Who was she? Her presence felt familiar, reminding me of someone from my past. I knew the characters in my story had connections to the real world, but I wasn't sure if this dream figure represented anyone here.

Even if she did, my memories of the character sequences were distant. The person I knew didn't exist in this world. At least our last memory together hadn't ended on a sour note.

Uwahh...

I stretched, my stiff muscles with a satisfying crack.

I stumbled towards my room, relieved to find Jan and Bazz still sound asleep.

So I checked my watch to see the time and any notifications from the morning.

[Time: 9:11 AM, Sunday - Weather: Bring a coat.]

[No notifications since - 4:32 AM]

I had gotten about four hours of sleep. The good news was that nothing required my immediate attention. After my report, Yang told me to enjoy the day and that Vanessa and I had done a great job uncovering information.

All that is left, is the main incident or should I say the first real scenario.

The cross arc of the Montclair mansion into the Orb Of Phantasmal will happen around noon where everyone is being closely monitored within the artifact library.

The transition from the Montclair mansion into the Orb of Phantasmal would happen around noon, with everyone under close watch in the artifact library.

Anouz would be the trigger for the transport, delaying Han's Organization squad members while others emerged from the Orb.

Bazz would accidentally activate the Orb with his mana, transporting everyone nearby and leaving Anouz to fight the guards while Jan and the others made their way to the "start" of the story.

Although my part would be not inside of the orb but I guess helping Anouz fight the guards off, I say it's better for us not to be inside the orb since 16 would lock the orb until the objective of it is finished.

Knock...knock...knock!

Three knocks sounded on the door. I felt too lazy to answer, so I lay back down, hoping Bazz or Jan would get it.

KNOCK...KNOCK...KNOCK...

But the knocks grew louder and repetitive each second that passed.

"Damn bastard."

I sighed and got up to open the door.

CREAK!

Anouz stood there, smirking at me.

"Hey, couch surfer, I hope you enjoyed your nap on the lounge last night."

"How'd you know I was sleeping on the couch?"

I asked, rubbing my eyes. I realized I didn't have my glasses on.

"Do you lack some sense to detect others presences? cause I thought you saw me when you got up from the lounge to walk back to your room,"

I was too tired to even bother, but I hadn't realized he was watching me.

"You praise me to much, though I doubt you came here just to chat," I said, getting to the point.

"What do you want?"

"I'm here to remind you about our meeting on the roof," Anouz said, his smirk widening.

"Unless you've already forgotten?"

"Of course not," I replied, trying to sound more confident than I felt.

"I just didn't expect you to come knocking at my door so early."

Anouz chuckled. "Early? I have you know I was awake at 3AM. We need to get moving if we're going to pull this off."

He glanced pointedly at the lump under the covers that was presumably Bazz.

"Right..." I mumbled, feeling a surge of annoyance. "Give me a few minutes to get ready."

"Don't take too long. Time is of the essence."

Anouz leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed.

I closed the door and quickly changed.

I wore all black fit, that had a trench coat, a turtle neck, and not too tight pants.

I had no idea what Anouz had planned, but I knew it would involve confronting Han's organization and their plans for the Orb of Phantasmal.

As I exited the room, Anouz raised an eyebrow.

"Ready?"

I nodded, trying to project an air of confidence despite how tired I was.

"Good, I think instead of planning it out I'll just tell you what we need to do, so first thing on the agenda is that I need you to familiarize yourself with the artifact room. Memorize the guard rotations, the security measures, anything that might be useful."

He led the way, ditching our previous plans and we reached the grand double doors of the artifact room, and Anouz gestured for me to observe.

"Watch closely," he instructed. "Every detail could be crucial."

As Anouz and I approached the grand double doors of the artifact room, the guard on duty stopped us. He greeted Anouz with utmost respect, bowing deeply.

"Master Anouz," he said, his voice filled with reverence, "what brings you here so early in the morning?"

"I felt like admiring my family's achievements,"

The guard, however, couldn't quite hold his expression of disdain sighing.

"Is that boy coming with you?" he asked, eyeing me suspiciously.

"Yes," Anouz confirmed. "Please be mindful."

The guard simply nodded and turned towards the other guards in the room.

With a series of sharp hand signals, he relayed Anouz's presence, and the guards instantly shifted into a strict rotational pattern.

I observed their movements, noticing how much more disciplined they were compared to the previous night. There was no room for error, no hint of laxity in their formations.

Suddenly, the Orb of Phantasmal, already encased in a triple layer of security, was further fortified with a fourth seal.

The sight sent a shiver down my spine. The level of protection surrounding the Orb was even more reinforced than I originally thought...
