The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 419: 419:Black Day[III]

Inside the sleek, futuristic spacecraft known as the Vortex of Dominion, the command deck buzzed with activity. Despite its advanced AI systems capable of running the ship autonomously, the crew insisted on manual control, believing that human intuition and compassion were irreplaceable in critical moments.

"How long until the deadline?" Captain Harland of the Vortex asked, his voice calm and calculated as he watched the incoming assault unfold on the monitors.

"Five seconds, sir," the communications officer replied, his hands steady on the console.

"If they don't surrender by the—" Harland's words were cut short by an incoming transmission.

"Signal from the High Command, sir. Admiral Zovari of the USR is refusing."

"Good hunting, gentlemen.'" Continue reading at My Virtual Library Empire

A smirk crept across Harland's face. "Well, then let's not keep the admiral waiting. Vortex, prepare for defensive operations. Target and eliminate."

[Acknowledged, Captain. Defensive operations commencing.] The ship's AI replied, its voice emotionless but sharp. [Brace for maneuvers in… 5… 2… 1. Initiating evasion sequence.]

The Vortex of Dominion glided through the vacuum of space, rotating on its axis like a celestial predator aligning for the kill, its laser batteries powered up, accompanied by the ominous hum of the beam emitters.

Opposing it was the Aegis Strike Group—led by the formidable ULS carrier USE Dominion's Pride, accompanied by seven destroyers and three cruisers.

Then, the battle began in earnest.

The ULS fleet unleashed volleys of missiles and deployed squadrons of F-98 Phoenix Strikers along with turbo-charged missiles each loaded with high-impact warheads. Cruise missiles launched from the carrier strike group and streaked toward the Vortex, their vapor trails crisscrossing the void.

"Activate countermeasures," Harland ordered.

[Acknowledged. Deploying reflective shields and dispersal fields.]

The Vortex responded with a shimmering barrier that rippled with layers of photon dispersion technology, bending and deflecting the incoming laser and missile strikes.

Simultaneously, the ship's counter-shockwave generators' emitter pulsed, cancelling out explosive forces, and rendering much of the ULS's firepower ineffective.

The fleet didn't give up.

The Phoenix Strikers swarmed in, attempting to overwhelm the Vortex's defenses through sheer numbers. But the Vortex retaliated by unleashing its devastating beam technology. High-energy lasers sliced through the fighters, disintegrating them mid-flight.

The few that dodged the initial barrage met with individually targeted plasma bursts, leaving the black expanse littered with flaming debris.

"Captain, all fighter jets neutralized," the weapons officer reported, his voice steady amidst the chaos.

"Well done. Now, let's clean the ocean of their fleet." Harland's voice was cold and unyielding as he commanded. "Prepare for targeted strikes."

The Vortex's main battery came alive.

Utilizing its advanced Type Omega Penetrator Munitions, the ship fired rounds designed to bypass conventional armor. Each shell was equipped with a delayed-detonation mechanism that allowed it to embed itself within the hulls of enemy ships before unleashing its devastating payload.

The first salvo struck the Dominion's Pride, ripping through its engines. The carrier shook violently, its propulsion systems obliterated, leaving it dead in space. The surrounding destroyers and cruisers attempted to scatter, but the Vortex's precision targeting system ensured there was no escape.

"Engines neutralized across the fleet, sir," the weapons officer confirmed.

"Proceed to phase two. Target internal weapons systems," Harland instructed.

The Vortex unleashed a second wave of munitions, this time focusing on the ships' armories and missile launchers.

The penetrator rounds detonated within the internal magazines of the ULS fleet, resulting in catastrophic explosions which left the vessels crippled and defenseless.

Onboard the ULS carrier, the crew watched in horror as their fleet was gradually and systematically dismantled.

"This is impossible," an officer whispered, his voice trembling.

Back on the Vortex, Harland leaned forward, his gaze cold with intent. "Commence final strike. Cripple the flagship completely."

The last salvo was swift and merciless.

As the Dominion's Pride erupted in a blinding burst of light and explosion, the remaining of USL ships drifted helplessly, their power systems offline and their crews incapacitated.

[The sky and ocean are clean, Captain,] the AI reported.

Harlan's expression remained impassive. "Signal High Command. Mission accomplished."

The devastation wrought by the Vortex of Dominion rippled across the Allied fleets of the Unified (ULS), the Daxian Federation, and the USR.

As the Vortex hovered menacingly above the Atlantic Ocean, the Aegis Strike Group of the ULS lay in ruins.

Still, reinforcements from other nations pressed forward, their ships forming vast armadas on the horizon.

Among them, the Daxian Horizon Command Fleet and the USR's Crimson Armada advanced with grim determination, bolstered by their advanced warships and state-of-the-art missile systems.

Onboard the Vortex, Captain Harland observed the chaos on the holographic display. "These fools think numbers will save them," he muttered.

The AI responded with cold efficiency. [Additional fleets detected within firing range. Shall I prepare the Omega Beam?]

Harland exhaled slowly. "Do it. Eliminate all targets."

_____

The Vortex powered up its Omega Beam—an apocalyptic weapon feared even in theoretical scenarios. Its energy core pulsed, casting an ominous glow, and illuminating the sky in eerie shades of crimson and gold.

Then, the sky ignited.

A massive laser beam erupted from the ship, carving its way through the ocean and vaporizing everything in its path.

The Daxian Horizon Command Fleet, consisting of fifteen destroyers and two aircraft carriers, was the first to feel its wrath. The beam tore through the fleet's center, igniting their fuel stores and detonating ammunition stockpiles. Within seconds, the ships disintegrated, their debris raining into the ocean like fiery comets.

Screams of panic erupted over the fleet's comm channels:

"They've breached the hull!"

"We've lost propulsion! Mayday, mayday!"

"God, no! We're all going to die!"

Desperation gripped the survivors as they tried to launch life rafts, only to find themselves engulfed by secondary shockwaves.

Entire ships were obliterated, leaving no chance for escape.

The Vortex of Dominion had turned the ocean into a graveyard. And the war was far from over.

_____

The Crimson Armada of the USR watched in horror as the Daxian fleet was annihilated in mere moments.

"Retreat! Full retreat!" Admiral Vosk shouted, his face pale with terror.

The armada turned to flee, abandoning their formations in a chaotic attempt to escape the Vortex's line of fire. But the Vortex showed no mercy.

"Target the retreating fleet," Harland ordered with an evil.

He will make sure that today will be etched as Black Day in the history.

[Acknowledged. Deploying the Exterminator Beam.]
