Chapter 11: Chapter 11
~ Kaelos POV~
It's not a bad idea to think of rescuing the people in that dark room. But you know what's worse? Getting caught by the company guards and failing to save the innocent mortals we came for.
"You know what? I'm sure the guards are on the first floor waiting for us. Once the elevator opens, you and the future Alpha should run as far as you can to where I parked my car. I'll handle them, and make sure your face doesn't show," Eric said to us.
"Uh! You can't do that, Eric. We should run together. What if they arrest you? Please, let's go together," Gabriel pleaded.
"Yes, Gabriel is right, Eric. Please don't stay behind," I added, not understanding why Eric wanted to stay.
Eric explained that he could lose his job if the guards saw him running with us. It is better for us to leave because he couldn't afford to lose his job now.
The elevator stopped, and the door opened. The security guards were waiting for us, just as Eric predicted. Gabriel quickly grabbed Eric and pulled out a pen from his pocket, pressing it to Eric's neck. He demanded that the guards let us go, or he'd stab Eric.
"Hey, what are you doing?" I asked, confused.
Eric begged the guards to let me and Gabriel go, and they did. Gabriel shoved Eric away, and we both bolted out of the elevator, heading straight to where Eric had parked his car.
"Gabriel, can you drive?" I asked.
"No, I can't. We'll wait for Eric. No one saw us getting into the car, so just lay back," Gabriel replied as we waited.

"Sir, did you know those two?" one of the guards asked Eric.
"No, I don't. I was on my way to my space when they stopped and attacked me," Eric lied smoothly.
"We're sorry about that, sir. Please go home and rest. We'll report this to Madam Jessica in the morning."
"Alright, no problem. Thank you."
Eric returned to the car, started it, and drove off. I asked him what happened with the guards and if they believed our act.
"Yes, they did. But the issue will be reported to Jessica in the morning, just like they said. My only concern is that we couldn't help those people," Eric replied, focused on driving.
"I feel bad, but is there something else we can do?" Eric asked, looking at me and Gabriel.
Just as Eric asked this, Gabriel said he had an idea that might work. I asked Eric to pull over, and he did without questioning why. I then urged Gabriel to explain what he was thinking.
"Since the security guards saw us enter the company and plan to tell Jessica Slade tomorrow, why don't we make the headlines before the news reaches Jessica and Vark?" Gabriel suggested.
"What do you mean by that?" Eric asked.
"Yes, Gabriel, what do you mean?" I echoed.
"Eric, you still have the recorded CCTV footage on your phone, right? Let's post it online and tell everyone about it. I'm sure people will believe it, but we'll hide our identities."
I didn't fully understand what Gabriel meant by "online," so I asked him to explain. He said it's a place where you post something if you want it to go viral. That way, everyone would see the evil Vark Slade and his daughter are doing.
Eric agreed with Gabriel but mentioned he had someone who could do it for us, so it wouldn't trace back to any of us. I asked Eric how he would face everyone at work tomorrow, hoping they wouldn't suspect him.
"Don't worry, future Alpha. I can and will take care of myself. Besides, the guards saw the stunt Gabriel pulled back there. I'm sure they'll think I'm the victim." Eric smiled and drove faster as we headed home.
When we got back, the neighborhood was still dark, and the night guards almost caught us. We ran upstairs to avoid being seen, and once inside our room, Eric took out his cellphone and called someone. I couldn't hear the conversation, but Eric later told us he sent the video to the person, and it would be posted online immediately.
Not even thirty minutes later, Eric's phone beeped with a message. The video was online, showing people crying for help in the dark room, but their faces were hidden.
The three of us felt a small sense of accomplishment, knowing we did something to harm Vark Slade. But deep down, I knew this wasn't enough. I want to fight and kill Vark Slade and his daughter, then wipe out all the other vampires from the face of the earth.
*Vark Slade Incorporation Company, The Next Day*
~Jessica's POV~
When I stepped into the office, I noticed that all the staff were busy watching something on their phones. None of them paid any attention to me, which was infuriating. What the hell is going on? I kept striding toward my office, maintaining my composure, until one of the security guards hurried over to me, saying he has something urgent to discuss with me.
I glared at him from head to toe but said nothing. I continued walking into my office, and he followed behind. Once inside, I finally addressed him.
"What is it that you want to talk about? And what is everyone watching on their phones? I hope it's not something about the company," I asked, the anger clearly showing on my face, but I didn't care.
"Madam, last night some men sneaked into the company without our consent, but we noticed when the alarm on the fifth floor started going off."
My breath caught when he mentioned the alarm, and I asked if he was sure of what he is saying.
"Yes, Madam," he replied, though I was still unclear about the details.
"Explain how this happened," I demanded, needing to know more.
"Last night, Mr. Eric came to the company and reported that he had lost his wallet. We were hesitant to let him in, but he pleaded with us, so we eventually allowed him inside and told him not to stay too long. After a few minutes, we heard the alarm, and when the other guards and I ran in, we saw someone holding Mr. Eric hostage, threatening to kill him if we didn't let them go."
This is going to be a huge problem if my father finds out. I felt my anger rising, and for a moment, I wanted to drain the guard's blood, but I couldn't—there were too many witnesses.
"Where is Eric now?" I asked.
"I'm afraid, madam, he hasn't shown up for work yet," the guard replied, and I lost it, yelling at him to get the hell out of my office.
The alarm on the fifth floor should not have ring unless someone with both vampire and werewolf blood had passed through. This cannot be happening. I quickly grabbed my phone from my purse to call my father.
The first thing I saw was a message from my social media account. There was a trending video online, so I opened it. To my horror, it was footage from the darkest room.
My hands started trembling. How could someone have gotten this video? Could it be from one of our VIP members? No way. They all know what's at stake if the company goes down. I immediately called my secretary and ordered her to get Eric on the phone. As the system analyst, he needed to take that video down.
To my utter disbelief, Eric still hadn't shown up for work! Someone hold me, or I'm going to lose it! This can't happen to the company, not when my father's project is on the line.
