Chapter 13: Chapter 13
~ Kaelos POV~
Eric drove into the Ghetto and parked in front of our house. He noticed Ligaya outside, selling her used clothes with five people browsing through them. Eric moved closer, trying to discreetly sniff their bodies, hoping to detect if any of them were vampires.
I saw what Eric was doing from upstairs and got scared he might get caught. I quickly ran downstairs to meet him.
"Hey, Eric, let's go upstairs. Or are you trying? Don't tell me you're into used clothes like this."
Did I ask too many questions? Maybe not, but before Eric could respond, Ligaya sneered and moved closer to me, leaving her spot.
"You know what? All the clothes here are for ladies. I don't know why your friend is standing here, peeking at them. I didn't even advertise to him before he stopped." Ligaya rolled her eyes at me.
Eric suggested we go upstairs, but I felt the need to give Ligaya a reply.
"Did I mention your name when I came down here? I was only talking to my friend, not you!" I turned to Eric, "Let's go."
"You're arrogant!" Ligaya shouted at me as I ignored her and led Eric upstairs. Once we were inside, Eric asked what had happened downstairs and if I was already having issues with our neighbor.
"Come on, Eric, don't mind her. She's just a crazy girl who likes to shout and disturb the neighbors all the time," I said, sitting down.
"What were you two talking about? And you, Eric, what are you doing here? You should be at the office by now," Gabriel chimed in.
"Yes, Gabriel is right. Why are you here?" I asked, trying to divert the conversation away from Ligaya.
"I'm not going back to that company again," Eric replied, sitting down beside me.
"Why?" Gabriel asked, concerned.
"I think Jessica is trying to uncover the truth about what happened last night. I'm sure she'll find out everything once Vark Slade gets involved."
"This is bad," Gabriel muttered, rubbing his hand as he turned away.
"What if the truth comes out and they track you to your house, Eric? Why don't you stay here with Gabriel and me? This apartment is big enough for the three of us."
"Thank you. One more thing, we won't stop our plan against Vark Slade. I got a tip from Jessica's secretary that she will be meeting with Lovethpower's magazine show. I'm sure it's all about the new project."
"What do you think we can do about it?" I asked Eric, curious.
"It's simple. Jessica has done this before—meeting and collaborating with the top male model in the universe. I'm sure they'll interview her, and she'll mention the project."
"Where do we fit into this?" Gabriel asked.
Eric explained that we needed to prevent her from meeting the model. I asked how we could even do that, as it didn't seem possible to me.
"I know someone at Lovethpower's magazine who can assist us," Eric replied.
"What do you mean?" I asked, intrigued.
"Jessica is likely under a lot of pressure right now. Vark Slade won't go easy on her because he hates failure, and Jessica will want to focus all her energy on the project to make it a success."
"Okay...?"
"Kaelos, this is where you come in. You need to get closer to Jessica."
"What? I don't understand?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"You need to act like a model," Eric explained.
"Wait, Eric, you know Kaelos can't do that. He grew up in the forest. How do you expect him to know anything about modeling? He doesn't even know what some things are called. Remember, a model of the universe has to be distinctive and knowledgeable about everything. Kaelos can't even read!" Gabriel pointed out.
"Exactly! I don't have a clue of things." I yelled.
"Gabriel, we don't have a choice. You can't do it, and neither can I. Kaelos is our last hope because we don't trust anyone else. I'm sure we can train him before the event."
"I know nothing about modeling. Maybe you'll have to train him," Gabriel said.
"I know someone capable of doing it."
As soon as Eric mentioned he knew someone who could help, Gabriel and I became more curious. We looked at Eric, waiting for him to reveal who it was. You won't believe who he mentioned. I would never agree to it—never!
"Ligaya."
"Uh!" Gabriel and I chorused, our mouths wide open.
"What are you talking about? Or wait, which Ligaya?" I asked in disbelief.
"The one downstairs. I know she'll be useful to us. When I researched about her, I found out she was into fashion and modeling before the company she worked for shut down."
"Hahaha! Ligaya, a model? Come on, Eric, I don't believe that. She's so loud and boisterous. Gabriel said models are supposed to be classy. Ligaya is not, so let's look for someone else."
"I'm sorry, Kaelos, but we can't. If we bring in someone from the city, our plan might get ruined, which I don't want to happen. But wait, why don't you want Ligaya? Are you two having issues already?"
"Kaelos confronted her the other day over something, but don't worry. I'm sure we can fix this since she's our only hope," Gabriel said.
"Don't tell me you're agreeing with Eric, please. We're just going to fight, and how do you intend to replace me with the other model?" I asked, frustrated.
"Good, that's what you should be asking, not about your fighting with Ligaya, because I won't let that happen since I'll be living here with you two. We'll find out when the model is arriving in the Philippines. Once he arrives, we'll kidnap him and bring him here," Eric explained.
"What? Kidnap and bring him here, Eric? Don't you think that's too much? What if we get caught? Doing that will make us look exactly like Vark Slade," I protested.
"Kaelos is right, Eric. Won't that make us just like Vark Slade and his daughter?" Gabriel asked, concerned.
"Calm down, Kaelos, Gabriel. We won't be like them. If we succeed with this plan, do you know how many more people we'll save? We have to do this for the future of all the werewolves. Besides, we won't kill him."
