The Veilwalker

Chapter 487: Arriving In Style (2)

The caretakers and forces responsible for maintaining and welcoming the Council members were busy at work. A meeting had been called by none other than Lord Alexander himself.

This was a big deal.

Although the announcement was made three days ago, it didn't deter the workers from verifying that everything was in order, even on the day of the meeting.

The meeting was scheduled to begin in about half an hour, and most of the Council members had already arrived. With every passing minute, the entourage of the Council members would arrive in style, making their way towards their waiting chambers.

"Inform the Council. Lord Alexander is almost here!" The lead caretaker ordered as she and her people rushed outside to the receiving platform.

Whether the Council members liked it or not, Alexander was not someone they could simply ignore. Even the Three Heads had to make their way outside.

Lord Basso, Lord Jaseph, and the new and third head, Lady Irene Proudstar, had to step outside their private chambers to receive Alexander.

The three heads, along with hundreds of Council members and caretakers, came to wait just outside the landing platform. The heads were at the forefront, followed by the Council members, and then the caretakers.

Looking up at the sky, the gathered people could see the silhouette of a ginormous space cruiser inching closer to the planet.

"T-That's huge…" one of the Council members muttered unconsciously, and rightly so.

Planet Titan itself was a supermassive planet, hundreds of times larger than Planet Earth. Yet, the cruiser almost took half the planet's atmosphere.

'He's definitely about to make an entrance,' Lord Jaseph glanced at his long-time friend with a knowing smile on his face.

'It's only a given…' Lord Basso replied smugly, returning the smile. 'Regardless of what has happened till now, Lord Alexander is still young; barely past 25 years.'

Suddenly, the space cruiser let out a powerful hum, making the atmosphere itself tremble in response. The unmistakable sound of the bay doors opening caught everyone's attention.

With the power level of the people around, it was but a simple matter to zoom in on the cruiser, allowing them to clearly see what was happening.

As the celestial lights from the cruiser spilt out of the bay doors, a heavy yet majestic aura expanded, enveloping the people below. The response was almost immediate, with the Council members and caretakers instinctively feeling compelled to show reverence.

"..."

This was new to them. In fact, many among the Council had not had the personal pleasure of meeting Alexander ever since he ascended to godhood.

With his reserved nature, he only interacted with his vassals, students, family, and friends. Even then, Alexander never revealed his full presence.

His celestial body alone, even if he actively held back, instilled a sense of reverence in people — Venerable Beings and above included.

'He's truly as powerful as the others claimed…' Lady Irene glanced at the other co-heads and swallowed imperceptibly. 'He hasn't paid me a visit ever since I took the third seat from Lady Zara.'

Despite the condition put forth for her selection, Alexander only gave his approval through the other two heads, scheduling the meeting for another time.

"!"

Everyone was pulled out of their thoughts when the unmistakable aura of Venerable-level beings swooped out of the ship, abruptly lining up on both sides of the landing platform, where the Council members looked on in shock.

'The hell…!'

The Council members couldn't believe their eyes. At a glance, they counted hundreds, all of them donned in sophisticated armour from head to toe.

But that was not the most interesting part.

These beings, whoever they were or where they came from, exuded auras that exceeded theirs by a large margin. In simple terms, they were incredibly strong. The Council members could not see past their armour, not even with the power of the entire electromagnetic spectrum.

'My god…' Lord Valemont gulped, his eyes trembling fiercely. 'What the hell has he been doing all this time…? He has more than enough force to take over the empire if he so wishes!'

Glancing around, he noticed similar looks on the faces of his companions. Only a few revealed small smiles, irking Lord Valemont more than he thought possible.

'If only…'

Malcolm swallowed the regret that threatened to overwhelm him. He was unable to forge a rapport with Alexander during his early years and did not attempt to do so either.

The Valemont family head glanced at Baltor, the rebellion leader and his squad, noticing the ugly expressions they tried to hide.

'Such a pity…' Malcolm shook his head, returning his focus upwards. The time for the man of the moment to descend was here.

From the depths of the celestial lights emerged the silhouette of Alexander Gray, gradually revealing himself. But he was not alone.

At his left stood a young woman everyone recognised. To some, her presence brought a smile; to others, it stirred envy.

Julia Knight, daughter of Lucas Knight, was well known as Alexander's significant other. Dressed in an elegant blue-and-white formal gown that matched her hair, she embodied the essence of glamour and style.

On Alexander's right stood a figure no one had expected — Aaron Gray, his brother. With a confident smirk and a commanding presence, Aaron stood beside him like a benevolent deity surveying the world below.

The sight unsettled a few Council members, but they held their tongues. This was no place for children — and certainly not for showmanship.

Alexander smiled at the crowd below, sensing the waves of thoughts stirring among them. With a single step, he and his escorts shifted through space, appearing just a few hundred meters before the Council.

As soon as this occurred, the security forces he brought along performed a synchronised ceremonial salute, the gesture both intimidating and awe-inspiring.

"!"

The abruptness startled almost everyone. None of them sensed even a flicker of power being used. Yet, Alexander covered kilometres from his ship to the ground in an instant.

"Welcome, Lord Alexander."

Basso and Jaseph abruptly bowed, shocking the Council members and caretakers. However, they quickly recovered from their shock and followed suit.

"Welcome, Lord Alexander."
