Chapter 8: A Plan for the Finale
Luo Li, who has always been cold and composed, stands amidst the ruins of the Purple Cloud Immortal Realm. Her calm demeanor shattered, her grip tightens around the sword in her hand. She wants to command her people to chase Ling Ye and kill him.
But as she surveys the devastation around her, she forces herself to regain her composure.
Ling Ye is too strong.
Even if she gathers all the power of the Purple Sea Immortal Palace, it would be impossible to kill him. To pursue him now, especially to the depths of the void where his Blood Shadow Demon Army resides, would be suicide.
"Bastard," she mutters through gritted teeth, her rage simmering just beneath the surface.
Yet she knows she can do nothing. She can't take revenge, can't act against him, and that powerlessness drives her mad.
And what's worse, he left with that smug expression, so proud of himself.
"Palace Lord, what happened?" several queens ask, their voices cautious.
Luo Li takes a deep breath, forcing her emotions under control. Looking at the shattered remains of the Purple Cloud Immortal Realm, she speaks coldly.
"Do not mention what happened today. And don't let it spread beyond these walls."
How could she possibly explain what had happened? The humiliation, the chaos-it is unspeakable.
"Yes, Palace Lord," the queens respond,
though their curiosity burns within them.
If the palace lord says not to speak of it, they will remain silent.
"Clean up the mess," Luo Li orders, her voice sharp.
The queens nod and begin restoring the Purple Cloud Immortal Realm, which she herself had torn apart in her fury.
Luo Li stands still, her brow furrowed. A storm brews within her heart-a mix of frustration, shame, and unwillingness. Ling Ye's parting words echo in her mind.
"Don't marry if you don't want to. Ye Tian will never beat me."
Could Ling Ye truly never lose to Ye Tian? His ability to defy the heavens, his power of rebirth-it is undeniably formidable. But rebirth has its cost. Starting over means losing everything, and although Ye Tian couldn't kill him outright, a reborn Ling Ye would be vulnerable.
What then? If Ye Tian were to find him in that state, it would be over.
Her thoughts grow increasingly tangled. On one hand, she wants Ling Ye to die. On the other hand, she feels a flicker of hope that he won't lose to Ye Tian. If he survives, she won't have to face the implications of her rash promise from before.
But still, how had Ling Ye discovered her secret-the ability of two lives?
------
Elsewhere, Ling Ye is in an exceptionally good mood. Satisfaction fills him.
The absolute power of rebirth is his now. A second chance, a fresh start.
This time, things will go according to plan.
He has time to prepare, time to rewrite the story and reverse the finale. Two goals take precedence:
First, he must ensure his strength recovers quickly after his rebirth-at least to the realm of Extreme Gods.
Second, he must ensure Ye Tian's strength falls from the Boundless Realm after the finale. Otherwise, even with rebirth, Ye Tian would find him. In the Boundless Realm, the power of perception extends throughout the Chaos Universe.
Both problems must be solved.
With determination, Ling Ye begins to act. A perfect plan unfolds, one step at a time, in the shadows of the eve of the finale.
In the Chaos Universe, the Extreme God Realm represents the pinnacle of existence. Any faction boasting even a single Extreme God Realm cultivator is considered among the most powerful. Few forces, if any, can claim more than one.
Even Ling Ye's Blood Shadow Demon Army, despite its might, has only two: Ling Ye himself, standing at the half-step Boundless Realm, and Ren Fanchen, at the early stage of the Extreme God Realm. This rarity underscores just how difficult it is to reach such heights.
Ling Ye had once entertained the idea of nurturing his subordinates into the Extreme God Realm, but he dismissed it. He knew all too well the dangers of giving power to those who lack loyalty. Ren Fanchen was a prime example. His subordinates only followed him out of fear of his strength, not genuine allegiance.
In the finale, when Ling Ye fell to Ye Tian, every one of his subordinates betrayed him.
"A force built on intimidation and self-interest crumbles like sand," Ling Ye reflects bitterly.
After his rebirth, he is determined never to repeat that mistake. He will rebuild the Blood Shadow Demon Army, but this time, loyalty will be the foundation. Only those bound by unwavering allegiance will be accepted.
Ling Ye's other strength lies in puppet forging. His army of three thousand Demon Emperors consists of puppets forged by him, their loyalty absolute. Forging these puppets, however, is a painstaking process that demands vast resources, time, and energy.
He once considered creating a puppet in the Extreme God Realm but abandoned the idea. The process is unimaginably difficult, even for someone like him. But now, he is resolved.
"I will forge the strongest puppet-an Extreme God Realm puppet," he declares.
This puppet will serve as his new body after rebirth, a safeguard against vulnerability.
In the vast Chaos Universe, the Extreme God Realm is nearly unattainable. Only a handful have ever reached it. To create such a puppet, he must gather rare and extraordinary materials-ones scattered across the universe and hidden in secrecy.
And so, his next mission begins: collecting the materials for a feat that no one else has dared to attempt.
