The Villain Left the Sect at the Beginning, Now They Regret It

Chapter 1:

Chapter 1: Leaving the Sect:

“Hah, the recruitment ceremony is just around the corner. Whether the sect can regain its former glory depends entirely on this event. With so much to handle, you still have the time to daydream?”

In front of the stone steps of the Pure Void Sect’s grand plaza, Ye Li walked forward with her hands behind her back, stopping just three steps away from a young man.

She stood high above him, looking down coldly at the young man sitting cross-legged on the stone steps in a daze. Her icy brows and eyes were filled with undisguised impatience and disgust.

Yet, the young man remained in his trance-like state, his gaze fixed on the green bricks beneath his feet without even blinking…

“Hey! I’m talking to you!”

Annoyed, Ye Li raised her foot and kicked him in the stomach, knocking him off balance and sending him sprawling onto the ground.

Being sneak-attacked by someone so dishonorable, Tang Mo finally snapped out of his daze.

His vision cleared, and he met the gaze of the icy beauty towering above him, her cold arrogance carved into every delicate feature.

His dantian, already carrying old injuries, throbbed faintly from the kick, but he had no time to care.

Because Tang Mo had transmigrated into a cultivation novel and had become a cannon fodder character with the same name as his own in the Pure Void Sect!

In the novel, this cannon fodder character’s existence was only briefly mentioned, but Tang Mo had inherited all of the original owner’s memories.

It was as if he had personally lived through that tragic and despairing life.

In the original story, ten years ago, the Pure Void Sect had suffered an internal rebellion. That night was filled with wails of anguish, and the once serene sect had turned into a hellish landscape.

At the time, the unknown outer disciple, Tang Mo, had resolutely hidden his five-year-old junior sister, Ye He, in a secret chamber and then risked his life to save the senior sister, Ye Li, who had been gravely wounded by traitors.

But even with the sect master, Ye Qingyi, forcefully breaking through her limits, she was unable to reverse the tide. After that night, the Pure Void Sect fell apart, and the sect master was left broken in spirit.

What had once been a great sect in Cangzhou was reduced to ruins overnight, with only the abandoned mountain gate remaining.

All that was left were a reclusive sect master tormented by inner demons, a gravely ill senior sister, and a little girl.

Tang Mo couldn’t bear to abandon them, so he stayed and took care of them for over a decade.

Yet, who could have predicted that after ten years of dedication, all he would get in return were three ungrateful wolves?

For the first two years, they had lived like a family, but soon, the sect master, senior sister, and junior sister took his efforts for granted.

They treated him with neglect, indifference, and disdain. No matter how much he did, all he got in return was scorn.

Only when he went down the mountain each month to sell pills for spirit stones would they give him a rare moment of kindness.

Six months ago, the sect master, Ye Qingyi, had even inexplicably “accidentally” injured his dantian under the pretext of sparring.

That injury left him gravely wounded, and even after recovering, his future cultivation was doomed to be an uphill battle.

But that wasn’t the worst part.

Right now, Tang Mo had transmigrated to a crucial turning point in the novel—the Pure Void Sect, after ten years of decline, was preparing to reopen its doors for disciples.

And among this batch of new recruits was the novel’s protagonist, Lin Xuan. This guy was the Chosen One, the author’s golden child!

Joining the revived Pure Void Sect was the starting point of Lin Xuan’s rise to greatness. Here, he would begin gathering his first harem members and unlocking his golden opportunities.

The moment Lin Xuan arrived, the sect master, senior sister, and junior sister would collectively lose their intelligence, blindly worshipping his so-called destiny and protagonist aura.

They would throw themselves at him, fighting for his attention with ridiculous intensity. They would rush to present him with gifts, and even more absurdly, they would arrange their ranks within his harem based on seniority!

As for Tang Mo? He would instantly be reduced to nothing more than an alchemy tool.

Within days, the male lead would notice his inborn Pill Spirit Root.

Then, Ye Qingyi would directly use a secret technique to forcibly extract Tang Mo’s Pill Spirit Root and gift it to Lin Xuan as a token of good fortune!

With that free golden finger, Lin Xuan would embark on his path to revitalizing the Pure Void Sect, defeating the Demon Lord, and uniting the Three Realms.

Meanwhile, Tang Mo would bleed out and die.

Just thinking about the original owner’s ten years of devotion—all wasted on three ingrates—filled Tang Mo with fury.

Not only did they show no gratitude, but they even sacrificed him for their own gain!

Forget about him—even a pig with a conscience would lose sleep over this injustice!

Tang Mo rubbed his forehead. Why was his transmigration this tragic…

But since it had already happened, he had to accept it.

Most importantly, he needed to escape the fate of a cannon fodder tool!

The author claimed to have written this novel to showcase the brutal truth of the cultivation world—where the weak were merely tools for the strong.

Tang Mo wasn’t about to play along with that nonsense. His fate was in his own hands!

Right now, he was still processing everything and thinking of a plan, so he had no time to deal with Ye Li. This, however, infuriated her even more!

Since when had this man ever ignored her like this in the past ten years?!

Just as she was about to kick him again, a sweet voice called out.

“Senior Sister~”

A young girl in a pale yellow dress flitted over, clinging to Ye Li’s arm as she called out sweetly, her lively eyes full of spirit.

But the moment she glanced at Tang Mo, her brows furrowed in instinctive distaste.

Ye Li’s cold arrogance softened as she playfully tapped Ye He’s nose, smiling in indulgence.

“Ah He, did you go chasing spirit foxes again? Look at you, your dress is covered in leaves.”

“Hehe, don’t be mad at me, Senior Sister~”

Ye He swayed Ye Li’s arm coquettishly, then turned to Tang Mo with a commanding tone, oblivious to his cold gaze.

“Why are you just standing there? If you’re not cultivating or working, what are you even doing?”

“Ten years, and you’re still at the early Foundation Establishment stage? Even I’ve surpassed you!” Ye He scoffed, arms akimbo. “How am I supposed to introduce you at the ceremony? As Pure Void Sect’s top errand boy?”

Tang Mo shook his head. This was the child the original owner had raised with his own hands.

She used to follow him around like a little shadow, but now, she saw him as nothing but an embarrassment.

Ye Li smirked. “Ah He is talented and hardworking, unlike certain people who lack aptitude and motivation.”

Ye He pouted. “Hmph, I find him embarrassing!”

Tang Mo chuckled coldly and brushed the dust off his alchemy robe.

Then, in a calm voice, he declared, “I’m leaving the sect. Effective immediately. Farewell, and good luck—because I won’t be serving you anymore.”

With that, he turned and walked away without looking back.

Ye Li and Ye He were momentarily stunned before bursting into mocking laughter.

“Leaving the sect? Is he insane?”

Ye He yelled after him, her face red with fury. “You think we can’t live without you? Get lost! The farther, the better!”

At that moment, a cold, emotionless voice echoed through the plaza.

[Let him go. You two, come to the Sect Master’s Hall.]

Tang Mo sighed in relief.

He quickened his pace towards the Alchemy Pavilion.

Time to collect his final paycheck before leaving for good.
