The Villain Left the Sect at the Beginning, Now They Regret It

Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Yellow Springs Tear

Li Weixi only appeared in the later parts of the novel. Her past remained a blank slate.

Tang Mo only knew that she was the third child of the previous Demon Lord. As soon as she was born, her mother had taken her away from the Demon Palace. The novel had no mention of her before she returned.

Her two brothers had joined forces to kill their father, then fought each other for years, leading to chaos as various factions in the Demon Realm rose to power. Eventually, the second brother emerged victorious and ascended the Demon Lord’s throne.

But before he could fully consolidate his rule, Li Weixi returned one day out of nowhere, crushed her second brother with overwhelming power, and became the first-ever female Demon Lord. She swiftly reclaimed the Demon Realm with an iron fist.

With both strength and strategy, the entire Demon Realm submitted to her reign. It was said that a single look from Li Weixi could strike fear into the hearts of her enemies, sending chills down their spines.

Combined with her Heaven-Tier Ice Spiritual Root, the cultivation world referred to her as the Ice Demoness.

Yet now, as Tang Mo watched the delicate woman sitting on the jade bed, carefully holding a bowl of medicine, he saw her take a deep breath, steel herself, then down the entire bowl in one go.

The intense bitterness made her small face scrunch up adorably, and she even stuck out her pink tongue, looking utterly miserable.

How could this person possibly be the Ice Demoness?

Tang Mo let out a dry chuckle and pulled out some candied plums from his spatial pouch—ones the original owner had bought for Ye He. He handed them to Li Weixi.

Her eyes instantly lit up. Though she seemed embarrassed, she couldn’t hide how much she hated the bitter taste. She carefully took one, pressing it against her lips for a moment before swallowing.

She looked at Tang Mo with gratitude. “That was embarrassing… but thank you, Tang Mo.”

“No need. Save some. There’s another bowl later.”

She froze. “There’s more?”

“This one nourishes your qi and calms your mind while helping with blood circulation and internal injuries. Too much reliance on pills can cause tolerance buildup and pill toxicity, so there’s always a limit to how many pills one can take. The number varies for each type. Your injuries are severe, so herbal medicine is a slower but gentler approach.”

Calming the mind…

She thought back to the nightmares that had haunted her when she was unconscious. Tang Mo must have noticed she was tormented in her sleep.

A warmth spread through her chest. She whispered, “Thank you. What’s the next bowl for?”

“When I checked your pulse, I noticed you were poisoned,” Tang Mo said calmly. His gaze locked onto hers. “Do you know what it is?”

Li Weixi stiffened.

She hesitated for a brief moment before speaking in a cautious tone.

“Yellow Springs Tear… It’s a demonic poison that corrodes the Golden Core.”

It also tempts the heart, leading one into demonic cultivation.

She didn’t dare say that part, yet Tang Mo showed no fear at all. Instead, a smile tugged at his lips.

“Wait here. Try meditating and checking if your meridians are still blocked.”

With that, Tang Mo strode off toward the alchemy chamber, leaving Li Weixi alone with her confusion.

The cultivation world despised anything related to the Demon Realm. Even the slightest connection was enough to ruin someone’s reputation.

Was he really not afraid?

If Tang Mo feared this poison, he would have kicked her out immediately.

But her straightforward answer had satisfied him. She had responded quickly and without deception, even taking the initiative to explain the poison in detail.

She might still be hiding something, but given they had just met, that was normal.

Since he had already decided to raise the Demon Lord and use her to fight against Lin Xuan and Ye Qingyi, building trust was essential.

That being said, Yellow Springs Tear wasn’t something Tang Mo had ever heard of before. The novel never mentioned Li Weixi being poisoned in her early years.

Tang Mo scanned the Dragon Vein Ganoderma, Ghost Vine, and Fifty-Year Frostwood Root—all of them had detoxifying properties. Among them, Ghost Vine had the strongest medicinal effect and could suppress various poisons.

He couldn’t risk refining pills without confirmation, so he quickly extracted and purified the Ghost Vine, mixing it with other detoxifying and pain-relieving herbs to create a medicinal broth.

Back in the room, Li Weixi gulped it down.

Moments later, her eyes widened with surprise. She snapped out of her meditation and lifted her face toward Tang Mo.

“It’s really working!”

Tang Mo used Spirit Eyes to check. The medicinal energy had wrapped around the blue-purple mass of poison inside her.

Yellow Springs Tear was an extremely aggressive poison, and though this medicine could suppress it, it wasn’t a permanent cure.

But it was a start. If he could find the right pill formula or create one himself, he might be able to fully detoxify her.

“How exactly does it feel?”

“The pain is gone. I can sense the medicine holding it back. As long as the effects last, the poison won’t be able to harm my Golden Core.”

Tang Mo nodded. “If it starts hurting again, tell me immediately. Until we cure it, you’ll need to keep drinking this.”

“Mm!” Li Weixi’s eyes sparkled with admiration. “You’re amazing… and such a kind person. It must be my mother watching over me that I was able to meet you!”

The original owner had once used a fourth-grade pill to save Ye Li, yet never once did she call him “amazing” or “kind”.

Instead, the first person to praise him was the future Demon Lord herself.

Tang Mo tested her. “I’m only at Foundation Establishment.”

“So what?” Li Weixi tilted her head in confusion. “I’m at the Golden Core Realm, yet I’d be dead without you. Besides, my mother always taught me that a person’s worth isn’t measured by their cultivation—it’s about their heart.”

Her voice softened. “There are people with high cultivation and righteous facades, but inside, they’re rotten to the core. No matter how powerful they are, they’re still disgusting.”

Tang Mo could tell she wasn’t faking it. She had suffered terrible experiences, yet she could still say these words.

How did someone like her end up becoming the ruthless Demon Lord of the future?

Seeing her melancholy, Tang Mo smiled. “Stop overthinking. Focus on getting better. Once you’ve recovered, you’ll be helping me work. There’s plenty to do.”

Li Weixi nodded seriously, then hesitated as she watched him get up to leave. Her heart tightened. She blurted out—

“Where are you going? When will you… come back?”

“Pay off debts. Also, check with some people to see if I can pick up some work,” Tang Mo said casually. “Until I can buy a house, I have to spend 120 lower-grade spirit stones per night on lodging. Your medicine isn’t free either.”

He waved as he left.

The door closed.

Li Weixi lowered her head, murmuring softly in shame—

“Once I’m better… I’ll help you earn money.”

Pure Void Sect, Sect Master’s Hall.

Ye Li stood respectfully before the screened-off silhouette and bowed. “Master, you called for me?”

“Come closer, Li’er.”

The icy, detached voice carried no emotion. Ye Li didn’t dare delay. She stepped past the screen and looked toward her master, who sat in meditative silence.

Ye Qingyi, despite being over a hundred years old, was breathtakingly beautiful, elegant, and cold as sculpted ice. A vermillion mark adorned her brow.

She opened her eyes and gazed at Ye Li, her voice carrying a rare hint of warmth. “Is the grand ceremony prepared?”

That damn Tang Mo!

Just hearing this made Ye Li furious. He had abandoned everything at the worst possible time!

“Master, not yet,” she hesitated, then quickly explained. “It’s all Tang Mo’s fault! Not only did he refuse to do his duties, he even insulted me and A’He! If you hadn’t let him leave, I would have…”

“Li’er.”

Ye Qingyi’s tone was absolute. “Since when does Pure Void Sect rely on a mere failure? And when did we lower ourselves to quarreling with insects?”

“Master is right,” Ye Li sneered. “That ingrate betrayed the sect! If not for sheer luck, how could a mere outer disciple dream of becoming your apprentice?”

“He was a blind fool who received undeserved fortune!”
