The Villain Only Wants To Live a Buddhist Life

Chapter 20

Chapter 20: The Beginning of the Arrogance Series Mana Cards

Dark did not show much surprise at Professor Kazel’s sudden interruption.

He showed the professor his results and took the opportunity to ask about the problems he encountered during the crafting process.

Professor Kazel was shocked that Dark had successfully crafted the “Refined Emotion Card” on his own.

Afterwards, while casually providing various answers, he inspected Dark’s emotion card. Finally, he sighed, “Demon, your research into emotions is unexpectedly profound.”

“Is that so?”

Dark looked bewildered.

Because he truly didn’t know he had researched emotions…

“Sometimes being overly modest isn’t good.” Professor Kazel blinked. “You should be proud of yourself. When I was your age, I was still playing with mud underground.”

Then he turned around and said, “If you want to continue, remember to deliver the key to my office before five o’clock this afternoon.”

Dark: “Yes, Professor!”

“There are two blank mana cards left.”

Dark scanned the last two blank mana cards and then summoned the Imp Beast.

“Mana Summon!”

Before the Imp Beast could react, a light ball from the “Joy Card” hit its back.

Its naturally vicious expression instantly became light and airy.

“Are you happy?” Dark asked.

The Imp Beast nodded dully, “Happy.”

“That’s good.”

Dark smiled and put the “Joy Card” into his mana card deck. He finally had his first mana card made by himself!

After instructing the Imp Beast to watch the door, Dark became serious.

The “Joy Card” was just a trial. The real experiment would come next.

He no longer cared about the “Joyful Voice” potion and directly moved to the second step, boiling the materials into a paste and setting it aside.

This “paste” served as a “sealing liquid,” like a washer between a screw and a nut.

With this layer of “paste,” the sealed “emotion” wouldn’t leak out, reducing conflicts between the spell array, materials, and mana card. It also prevented the nature of the infused emotion from being easily destroyed.

If the spell was successful, it could act as a “protective membrane.”

Dark sat down in the chair, took out the Mana Dropper, heated it slightly with an alcohol lamp to activate it.

Then, using the “蜻蜓点水法” (Dragonfly Touch Technique), he pressed the tip of the Mana Dropper against his temple, gently squeezing the “brain” and releasing it repeatedly.

There was no need for fine control because only “arrogance” overflowed from his brain at this moment.

As tiny black lines were sucked into the Mana Dropper, “arrogance” finally decreased from 111 to 110!

“Yi—”

The Mana Dropper suddenly screamed!

Dark immediately stopped pressing and then dipped its tip into water.

The Mana Dropper naturally quieted down upon touching the water.

Dark dried it and the Mana Dropper stopped screaming.

Afterwards, he pressed the tip of the Mana Dropper against a blank mana card and forcefully squeezed the “brain”!

All the stored “arrogance” in the “brain” spewed out!

Soon, the blank mana card was dyed a deep dark gold.

When the dark gold on the mana card became even and smooth, Dark spread the prepared paste over the surface of the mana card.

The subsequent steps were as usual.

With one successful experience, Dark’s technique became more proficient.

He quickly completed the crafting of “Arrogance I”!

Visually, “Arrogance I” only added a protective layer compared to the previous ones.

But how effective it would be remained to be seen.

Moreover, he wasn’t planning to conduct the experiment here.

“It’s almost time to return the key to Professor Kazel.”

Dark cleared away the traces of the experiment and left the lab.

At five o’clock in the afternoon.

He returned to his bedroom and summoned the Imp Beast for the experiment.

Everything that could be done was done. This was nearly a decisive experiment!

The clever little Imp Beast immediately knew what it was going to suffer and closed its wings to cover its head, “Protest, protest, an familiar’s life is a life too!”

Dark revealed a kind smile, “Don’t worry, it won’t hurt.”

Imp Beast: “No, no, o(>﹏<)o No way!"

"Mana Summon!"

Dark held the "Arrogance" mana card with his index and middle finger and activated the "summoning spell"!

In an instant...

The mana card activated!

It was no wonder it was crafted using the method for the "Refined Emotion Card."

Even the black light emitted after activation felt more advanced.

The dark golden light ball that flew out of the mana card was rounder, more stable, and faster in flight.

Before the Imp Beast could react, it was hit by the light ball.

It froze for a moment, as if its brain circuit was switching from "naughty" mode to "arrogant" mode.

?(??ˊ?ˋ)?;

After this moment, its expression of feigned "sorrow" immediately transformed into one of arrogance and superiority!

The whole demeanor of the Imp Beast changed!

It raised its head and opened its mouth, "How dare you force me against my will! Do you know your crime?"

Dark: "Huh?"

The Imp Beast arrogantly said, "I grant you the mercy of a pat on the head to atone for your sins!"

Dark, looking bewildered, reached out and patted it on the head until it was satisfied and let out a comfortable sigh.

Subsequently, Dark wrote in his notebook, "Excessive arrogance has a probability of damaging the brain."

...

Card Name: Arrogance I;

Type: Magic Spell Card;

Effect: Makes one arrogant.

...

Without a doubt, this "Arrogance I" was more effective and lasted longer.

The Imp Beast only returned to normal after twenty-one minutes.

Moreover, the "Arrogance I" card did not break after activation.

A very faint light ball even flew out of the Imp Beast's brain and returned to the "Arrogance I."

Injecting mana revealed that the black light emitted by "Arrogance I" was weak but continuously recovering.

This meant that "Arrogance I" was a reusable mana card!

Although it had limited practical significance.

From a research perspective, this was undoubtedly a significant breakthrough!

It proved the sustainable development potential of the "Arrogance" series of mana cards and laid a solid foundation for the development of "Arrogance II."

Emotions are a form of power.

The desires of the seven deadly sins are a powerful potential force!

...

After another fifty-nine minutes, the light emitted by "Arrogance I" returned to normal intensity.

"Estimated cooldown: 59 minutes."

To test whether using it a second time would weaken the effect, Dark activated "Arrogance I" again.

Imp Beast: ??

...

The final experimental results showed that:

"Arrogance I" remained relatively stable and showed no signs of weakening.

From the mana card inspection, this mana card was almost complete!

Dark agreed with this assessment.

He looked at the last remaining blank mana card.

He was preparing to test the limit of this 10-credit blank mana card for "arrogance"!

For this, he needed to borrow another "Thought Bottle" capable of storing emotions, worth several hundred credits, from Professor Kazel.

—Perhaps, this is the composure of an excellent student!
