Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Say It, Do It—A Man of His Word
At this moment, Dice was sitting in his bedroom.
Since his parents were both businesspeople, they were often away on business trips, leaving him alone in the large house.
In his bedroom, Dice looked at a portrait of Gwen hanging on the wall, a gentle expression on his face.
From the moment he first saw Gwen, he had fallen deeply in love with this golden-haired girl.
So much so that he often visited her social media accounts.
Dice pulled out his phone and opened Gwen's profile once again.
His expression shifted from anticipation to disappointment, then to rage!
In a fit of anger, he slammed his phone on the floor.
The screen shattered—this was the third phone he had broken this month.
On the cracked screen was a photo.
Gwen and Peter were standing close together, holding a tub of chocolate Häagen-Dazs ice cream.
"This isn't fair!!"
"This isn't fair!!!"
Dice's eyes burned with fury!
"Peter! Damn Peter, why does Gwen only have eyes for you?!"
"Every time I walk past her, she doesn't even glance at me!!"
Suppressing his anger, Dice picked up the phone.
He immediately dialed a number.
The call connected quickly, and a thin man with a monocle appeared on the screen.
His nose was sharp, and his appearance was quite distinctive!
At first glance, he looked almost comical!
"Hey, Dice, my friend, what can I do for you?"
"Oswald, I need your help with something."
Thanks to a certain crime-encouraging lunatic, Gotham's crime rate had only increased. The Penguin was a product of this city of sin.
His real name was Oswald Cobblepot. Due to a tragic childhood, he had vowed to become the strongest, to rise above everyone else.
But his physical flaws had subjected him to constant humiliation.
During a gang fight, Dice's father had saved him.
Now, Oswald had become a somewhat notorious gang leader in Gotham.
This was why Dice had turned to him for help.
"There's a girl I like, but she doesn't like me. Her heart belongs to another man."
Dice's eyes grew increasingly fierce.
"Oswald, I need you to help me kill him. Once he's dead, I'm sure I can win her heart!!"
"If we ever get married, I'll invite you to the wedding!"
After hearing this, the Penguin fell silent for a brief moment.
"Dice, my mother always told me that a woman either falls in love with someone in an instant or never will, even if they share a bed."
"Oswald!" Dice interrupted him.
His tone was firm and demanding!
"Oswald! My father saved you!! Without him, you wouldn't be where you are today. So!! Now it's time to repay that debt."
On the other end of the screen, the Penguin, though displeased, nodded reluctantly.
"Dice, my friend, I'll repay this favor. Now, tell me the man's name!"
Dice's eyes lit up:
"His name is…"
Bang!
Thud!
Dice's expression froze as his head hit the computer desk.
A pool of blood spread across the desk and dripped onto the floor.
Dice was dead—completely and utterly dead.
Peter holstered his gun, and the system's notification sounded.
[You have punished the marked criminal. Reward: 100 points.]
"Hmph, worthless scum."
Peter had seen Dice's behavior just now. Killing him didn't weigh on his conscience.
He deserved to die.
On the other end of the screen, the Penguin was stunned.
The person he had just been talking to was now dead—just like that.
It scared the hell out of him!
"Who are you?! You killed my friend!!"
"What? Oswald, do you want to join him?"
Faced with such a blatant threat, the Penguin's anger flared.
After all, he was a boss in Gotham's underground.
Being threatened like this by Peter naturally provoked a strong reaction.
"F***!! You killed my friend. I'll find you!! I'll drown you in the river!"
Peter chuckled.
"You should be glad I'm not in Gotham."
The Penguin laughed in anger:
"What, you want to come kill me? Even Gordon can't touch me. You think you can?!"
"I live at 43 Villa Lane, Gotham City. There are twenty guards outside my house. You think you can come kill me?"
"Hey, why aren't you saying anything?"
After saying this, the Penguin realized there was no response from the other end.
It seemed he hadn't vented enough, so he slammed the table in frustration!
However, Dice's death did relieve him somewhat. He was a man who believed in repaying favors.
Since he owed a debt, he had to repay it. But now that Dice was dead, there was no need to go to New York.
He hadn't even fully established himself in Gotham yet. Going to New York now might offend the local powers.
The risk was too great.
The Penguin hung up the call.
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew into the room.
He instinctively looked at the window, but it was tightly shut.
"Weird."
"Ahem."
Just then, a voice rang out. The Penguin turned to look, and his scalp tingled with fear!!
"Sorry, were you looking for me?"
The Penguin's eyes widened in shock.
"What the f***!!!"
