Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Osborn Consumed by the Green Goblin
In the sanatorium!
Norman Osborn was repeatedly confined to a small, isolated courtyard.
Located in the suburbs of New York City, the place was scenic, with no shortage of food, wine, or comforts.
It was less like imprisonment and more like a vacation.
Except this "vacation" came without freedom!
Osborn sat in the bedroom, which was empty—not even a bed in sight.
There was only a full-length mirror.
Osborn sat cross-legged on the floor, staring at his reflection in the mirror.
Aged, haggard, and utterly tormented!
Since childhood, he had been haunted by the shadow of a hereditary family disease.
Fear had always loomed over him.
As a teenager, he had witnessed his father's death.
This was a psychological demon he could never overcome.
With each passing day, with each year of aging, the demon grew stronger!
Even as he became an expert in the field of biology, he still couldn't cure his own stubborn illness.
The demon eventually manifested as Norman Osborn's alternate personality.
The Green Goblin!
"What are you thinking?!!"
"Why are you so depressed?!!"
"We're not dead yet! As long as we're alive, we can find a way to cure ourselves!!"
The Green Goblin in the mirror was ferocious.
His eyes were hidden in the shadows.
"No, you won't control me!!"
The haggard Osborn retorted, his eyes bloodshot!
"You're just using me to do evil! Once I'm cured, the first one to die will be you!"
The Green Goblin roared in anger:
"Then just wait to die!! Feel your body slowly withering away!!"
"Watch as everything you've built at Oscorp is taken by others!!"
"Soon, your son will follow the same path as you!!"
"Osborn, the opportunity is right in front of us! What are you still hesitating for?!!"
"What else is there to hesitate about?!"
The Green Goblin's voice was impassioned, as if it had the power to demagogy!
"All we need is Spider-Woman's serum, and we'll be healthy!"
"Imagine it—an elderly Osborn lying in bed, with Harry's son, your grandson, by your side. No one will die from disease."
Bam!!
Osborn suddenly lunged forward, smashing his head against the mirror!
With a loud crash, the glass shattered, spiderweb-like cracks reflecting Osborn's fractured face.
Blood seeped through the cracks in the glass!
His expression gradually merged with that of his reflection!!
"You're right, you're right!!"
"Spider-Woman, I will catch you!"
"This time, the Punisher stopped us, but next time she won't be so lucky. We just need to pick the right time!!"
"A time when the Punisher isn't around!!"
The Green Goblin Osborn let out a maniacal laugh!
Sharp and terrifying!
...
Meanwhile, Peter was heading home after school.
He had something to take care of—something he had forgotten about for a long time.
Wearing gloves, he withdrew crisp new bills from his bank card.
Ten green Benjamin Franklins, each worth a hundred dollars.
Finding a spot without surveillance, Peter transformed in an instant, becoming the Punisher—the man feared by every criminal in New York.
Before, criminals had thought Batman in Gotham was a crazy, violent lunatic. But after the Punisher appeared, they realized just how "kind" Batman really was.
Peter took out his phone and checked the spider tracker.
He needed to talk to Otto's wife, Rosie.
To be honest, both the scientist and his wife were remarkable people.
Their life's pursuit wasn't fame or fortune—they simply wanted to contribute to humanity.
During their last meeting, Otto and Rosie had even taught Peter how to chase girls.
Even without the system's mission, Peter didn't want to see one of them die and the other turn to crime.
At this moment...
London, England.
Dark clouds loomed in the sky, with occasional drizzles. The air was incredibly humid.
Here, you could go entire seasons without seeing the sun for more than a few days.
A scruffy-looking man kept glancing around the train station.
Just yesterday, he had spotted a woman in her thirties or forties, well-maintained and seemingly troubled by something.
But none of that mattered.
What mattered was that he planned to assault her tonight.
And then sell her!
Time passed minute by minute, and Rosie stepped out of a restaurant.
She had been preoccupied these past few days.
Ever since Otto's experiment failed, she had tried countless times to contact him, but there had been no response.
And then there was the Punisher!
Rosie had looked him up online, and every piece of information about him was horrifying.
Rosie couldn't understand why someone like him had sent her to London.
Lost in thought, she absentmindedly walked past a deserted alley.
Suddenly, a shadow rushed out and shoved her into the alley!
"Ah!!!"
Rosie was startled and screamed, but her mouth was quickly covered.
"Hehe, I've been watching you all day. You're an illegal immigrant, aren't you?!"
"No one's going to help you!"
At that moment.
Peter appeared.
"Mind your own business!"
The man pulled out a knife, pointing it at Peter.
Peter, expressionless, walked up to him.
With a backhanded slap.
Bam! The man's head was instantly separated from his neck.
His body remained standing, while his head flew far away, hitting the wall and leaving a bloody mark.
It rolled on the ground a couple of times before coming to a stop.
