Chapter 460: Sick Friend
(From Blue's Perspective)
After talking to Evan, it seemed that what I thought about could not be true. Although he also mentioned that there could be an entity like that, I tried to believe that there was none. If there was something like that, Evan would know that, after all. He studied about these things like crazy for years. Something like this could never be missed if it truly existed.
Evan and I chatted for a long time over tea and refreshments. Even then, he did not say anything about being too seriously sick during weather changes. I figured it out when it was late at night and I was taking a stroll outside my room. I heard a moan from his room and at first, just wanted to go away quickly.
But then, I heard it again and again and it did not seem like he was doing something that I should not see. It sounded like he was seriously in pain. If my calculations were not right, it would get seriously uncomfortable. I decided to believe in my intuition. Female intuition was not a matter to joke about, after all.
I knocked on his door while praying that I was right about it. He opened the door, looking grave and sick. His face was flushed and he was wearing the bathrobe loosely as if he could not tie it properly because of his lack of strength.
"My god, Evan! Are you okay?" I exclaimed.
"Yes… Just a little… fever," he mumbled, smiling a little. He was sweating a lot too.
I quickly assisted him by his arm to make him sit down at least, fearing he might fall. I pulled the bell in his room to summon the maids.
I touched his forehead and he was literally burning. "Evan, you have a high fever! Why didn't you tell us anything?"
"I have sometimes during weather changes," he muttered. "It will be okay after a while after taking the medicine."
"You didn't take any medicine?"
"I did. I brought them with me."
"When did you take them?" I asked.
"After lunch."
"Clearly, they aren't doing much help," I said. "Doctor Dimitri will check you. Please do not resist. You need to get better."
"If my dear friend insists this much, I cannot refuse," he chuckled.
The maids were very surprised to see his helpless and pitiful state as well. He should have informed us. He was doing us a favor by staying with us. How could I bear to see him sick when he was with us? It made me feel guilty.
Doctor Dimitri was called very soon. Ruby, Calix, and Perita wanted to come as well, but I told them not to enter the room as a sick person might not like it if too many people entered his room when he was in that state.
I personally did not like it when someone else came into my room when I was sick. It was the same for Dem.
I also waited in the living room for the doctor to come back and give us a report.
"Is it contagious?" Ruby muttered, anxious. She was worried about my health and that of my baby.
"I hope not. Her Highness has been with His Highness, the King of Trouvaille for a while and it is long enough," Calix said.
"He is always causing problems," Perita muttered.
"No, Perita. How could you say that? It is not his fault he has caught a fever. We should be sympathetic to a sick person," I said. "Do not blame him for no reason."
"I admit King Ford is not to be blamed," Ruby nodded. "Anyway, I hope it is not contagious."
"I don't think it is, for Evan said that he gets this kind of fever during weather change," I said.
Doctor Demetrius came after a while and everyone was very eager to know what happened to Evan and if it was contagious. Hopefully, the answer came negative, much to Ruby's relief especially. She and Dem were always more worried about my health than me.
"It is not contagious. It is actually just a simple fever. His medication was not wrong. However, we need to increase the dose," Doctor Dimitri said. "He will get better within the course of three or four days with proper rest and medication."
"I see. Have you prescribed him something?" Stay updated with empire
"I did. I have the medications as they are common for fever and will send them now. He needs to take them every day in the exact times," he said. "I have left a note to the maids about it."
"Good. Thank you so much, Doctor," I said. "Can we go to him?"
Doctor Dimitri told advised us against going there all at once. So, I decided to visit him alone. After all, he was close to me rather than all the others.
"How are you feeling, Evan?" I asked as I stood by his bed.
"Definitely not better," he chuckled. "But, yes, just a little, just a tiny bit better than before as I can now at least lie down without feeling like my head is going to be separated from my body due to its extreme weight."
"I don't know if you have an appetite and I heard you threw up a few times, so I told Maria to prepare some porridge anyway, in case you get angry," I said.
"I don't have an appetite at the moment. If I eat something, I will throw up. However, thank you for thinking about me."
"You are my friend. It is just a normal thing," I said. "You know, when I had caught that contagious fever, I had the same state. I did not have any desire to eat anything for fear of throwing up if I ate anything. But Dem kind of forced me to eat something and although I threw up, I think it wasn't that bad to do so. Maybe you should try a bit."
