Chapter 23: A witch and a lunch
Victor Alaric
"Ugh..." I groaned, waking up from the earlier mess.
"Finally awake?"
I saw Agatha standing beside me staring filled with mockery, as if looking at somebody who failed miserably.
"how pathetic, can't even handle two brats" she scoffs obviously looking down on me.
Annoyed, I shot back, "Shut up. Fighting's not exactly my forte."
"I need to prepare for payback," I declared in irritated tone.
"With an arm like that?" she pointed out, looking at my rotting, blackened arm.
"Why don't you heal it, Miss Mage?" I replied in sarcasm.
"That's not a wound, and it's not a curse from magic either. So, that's your problem now," she said with a shrug.
"Pssh, great mage my ass," I snickered, deliberately taunting her as I retrieved a knife from my storage ring.
She glared at me after what I've said, clearly not amused. I rolled my eyes at her, cant even take a little joke.
*slash*
*spurt!*
"Keugh!" I gritted my teeth as I sliced through my entire blackened arm, letting it fall to the ground and rot away on its own.
"Oh my, how courageous," Agatha sarcastically complimented.
"Heh, as if these little wounds could actually damage me," I boasted, smirking as a new arm began to grow in its place, completely unscathed.
"What should we do now? Finding the hearts feels like such a pain," Agatha complains
"We don't need to find them," I replied confidently, leaning back with a sly grin.
"We let her do all the work, finding them herself, and then... we just take them away. Easy, right?"
Agatha glanced at me with a grin and eyes that shows clear agreement with my plan.
"Instead," I continued, my grin widening as I spread out the two hearts I had, "let's have some fun with these~."
"Maybe we should~," she replied, her lips curling into a mischievous grin as she held up another heart.
"So, how are we getting out of here?" I asked Agatha, feeling like she would have a plan.
"Who do you think I am?" she said confidently.
"Even now that I have this!" she boasted loudly pointing out at the heart she's holding.
"Keke, yeah, yeah, miss copy mage— OW!" rubbing my head where she had smacked me with her staff, glaring at her in annoyance.
-------------------------------------
My name is Luke Cadillac. As you can probably guess... I'm not a normal human. I'm actually a demon general!
However, due to certain circumstances, I was forced to seal my body. Removing it would bring chaos to the world, so I keep it sealed. I wear an eye patch to keep my evil eye in check, and beneath the seemingly ordinary bandages is an ancient material that wraps around my demonic arm, allowing me to use it like a normal hand.
"Heh… looks like another day of keeping my power in check." I stand confidently in front of the school gate.
Yes, I actually attend school like any normal person. Even with overwhelming power, sometimes you just crave a simple, ordinary daily life.
--------------
I entered the designated classroom, taking my seat at the desk. I sit back, cross my arms, and wear a smug, proud smile.
"...."
It seems like people still fear my power, keeping their distance. No one dares to approach, walking carefully around me. Well it's obvious since my presence alone is enough to make them uneasy.
"...."
"A-ah! my eye! is going wild!!"
As I speak, the eyes around me widen in shock, and silence falls over the crowd.
"I-it calmed down..." I say with a smirk, sitting down immediately.
"So you know Rubielle that one part in anime called.."
I recognize a certain name as I listen to the murmurs around me. I glance beside me, and there she is—standing out immediately with her striking white hair and vivid orange eyes. She always been our classmate even though I don't remember anything related to her hmm..
My evil eye is telling me! she's also chosen like me! should i approach her? as one of us!
With full confidence I walk toward her desk.
"Hey lady i am drawn— OW!"
*thud!*
"Rubielle!"
"Are you ok? you're injuries, what happened last week...."
Miss president rushes straight toward the girl, completely ignoring me. H-heh, it's nothing new. It's all part of the norm—my blending skills must be so flawless that they didn't even notice me! Heh... heh...
I stand up quickly, determined to try again, my smirk still there as I make my way toward her once more.
"ehem! lady you seem-"
"AH! you again! always getting close to Ethan!!"
It was Miss Marianne, as energetic as ever. Why is there always someone interrupting me? This is my turn now!
"Lady! it seems that i-!"
"Take your seats class is starting" the teacher entered the room.
"..."
This is also part of the norm...
--------------
During lunch break, I noticed Miss Rubielle sitting with her lunch absent. As one of us, I should offer to share what I have. I approach her.
"Miss, it looks like you're on your own. Why not—"
"Ah, Rubielle! I saw a spot on the bench outside. Let's go grab some food first," Ethan, another classmate of mine and the one closest to Rubielle, interrupts.
"Sure! Ah, sorry, I need to go now," Miss Rubielle apologizes and quickly follows after him.
"I'm coming too!" Miss Marianne follows in energetic tone.
"I want to as well," the president adds, walking up with a polite smile.
"..."
It's okay—they might be in danger due to my suppressed powers, so lunch feels like the wrong decision after all hahaha! haha.. ha..
--------------
I followed those four, trying again. I sneaked behind the tree, peeking out from behind the bench where they were sitting. They had started eating quietly on their own—Miss Marianne and Miss President with their lunchboxes, while Miss Rubielle and Ethan had store-bought meals. This was my chance!
"It looks like—"
"Much… munch… I wanna learn magic too," Ethan cuts me off.
"Eh?"
"Eh?"
"eh?"
Ehhhhh what is he saying??
I quickly ducked back behind the tree, shocked. Could it be…? Is he perhaps a chuuni like me? If so, that's even more reason to get along! A white-haired cosplayer, a guy who believes in magic, a girl who, for some reason, carries weird accessories and a fake dagger, and one… just loud. The four of us would make great friends!
A smile slowly form in my face at the thought.
"Ethan, what are you saying? Did you hit your head?" Miss Marianne question in confusion. Well, it's not like someone like her would understand the charm.
"I mean, magic is cool! You can literally do anything!" Ethan exclaimed, making exaggerated gestures.
Yep, yep! I totally agree! It is really cool!
"For me, I want to learn what Lillian, the president, is doing!" Miss Rubielle adds in eagerly, raising her hand like a volunteer.
"Do you want to know exorcism?" Miss president raised an eyebrow.
"What are you guys even saying, geez!" Miss Marianne muttered.
Who can use magic? Like magic tricks? Is it card tricks or pen tricks? I can do those too! Hehe it looked like there were so many things to talk about!
But as I look at Miss president, I couldn't help but wonder—was this part of her character? So she's a chuuni, thinking she's an exorcist? That's nice too! A bit dramatic, but hey, it adds to the charm.
*fwoom*
"WHAAAT?! THAT'S AMAZING!" Miss Marianne shouted, her eyes wide with excitement.
"Isn't that right?" Ethan added, impressed as well.
What happened? I didn't see anything while I was lost in my thoughts. Was it really a card trick? Was it that amazing? I want to see it too!
"Now I wanna try it too!" Miss Marianne shouted again, her energy bouncing off the walls.
"Me too!" Miss president tags along with excitement.
"I don't think so…" Miss Rubielle replied to their eager requests.
"Eh… boooo..." Miss Marianne pouts.
Miss Marianne then change the conversation to something boring.
"By the way, midterms are coming, did you—" she began, her tone growing boring.
Magic, huh? I should retreat for now. For sure, I'll show you something much more amazing next time. I walked back to the classroom, completely forgetting to eat lunch.
