The women I set free are obsessed with me

Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Mirabelle, the Witch of Judgment

While TOS, being a tycoon game, had the charm of watching cute chibi characters scurrying about and working, the process of developing characters was also an essential element that couldn't be overlooked.

This process offered a high degree of freedom, with many aspects of the slave changing depending on how I raised them. Things like personality, skills, traits, and so on.

Among them, Mirabelle boasted an exceptional level of freedom.

An unawakened witch.

Mirabelle, the Apprentice Witch.

Like an Eevee evolving based on the elemental stone given to it, she would awaken into various types of witches depending on the route taken.

Each route had different specs and available magic, but if I had to pick the build with the highest potential, it would be.

[Harbinger of Ruin: Mirabelle, the Witch of Calamity]

Living up to the name of calamity, she could wield magic capable of single-handedly destroying an entire nation. She would transform into this if I focused on developing Mirabelle's evil tendencies.

At the other end of the spectrum was the Witch of Aegyo.

Just pure cuteness as her only tool.

Useless in combat, but a supporter type with ridiculous buffs for tycoon business. Since you could leave dungeon exploration to other characters, it wasn't a bad route.

But what's this?

[Hand of the Death God: Mirabelle, the Witch of Judgment]

Witch of Judgment?

I had raised Mirabelle in every possible build, but I had never seen anything like this before.

With each step she took, thunder and lightning crashed from the clear sky, and birds flying overhead fell to the ground.

At the center of this chaos, Mirabelle was walking calmly towards me.

"What kind of magic were you fucking teaching her?! More importantly, is she really just an ordinary mage?!"

Myra shouted beside me, but I couldn't hear her.

My head was spinning just trying to figure out what had gone wrong and where.

First things first, I had to stop Mirabelle's rampage. At this rate, she might end up being subjugated.

The mages of Delphine launched spells at Mirabelle, but with just a wave of the Heavenly Covenant in the air, their magic dissipated like smoke.

The grimoire in her other hand flipped open. An ominous indigo magic circle appeared above it, and white, mochi-like objects were pulled out from above the mages' heads.

They looked just like souls.

The mages collapsed to their knees and I immediately raised my fist in victory.

"Haha! Did you think my Mirabelle would go down so easily?"

"Just who are you cheering for right now?!"

Ah, I got carried away.

I refocused my thoughts.

The cause of Mirabelle's sudden rampage seemed to be that grimoire. I needed to separate it from her.

"We need to remove the grimoire. Since you have the greater responsibility here, please cooperate."

"Why do I have more responsibility? You gave her the grimoire, so it's your fault!"

"This wouldn't have happened if you hadn't chased us. Besides, didn't you say you'd retrieve the grimoire? You should take it."

"Ugh, we'll sort out the blame later. She's your slave, right? Didn't you make some kind of contract? Can't you stop her with a command?"

"With such a cute slave, how could I force… Just kidding. It isn't working."

Mirabelle was refusing.

To freely control a slave, my skill level needed to be at a certain level.

It worked fine on common slaves, but it didn't work as intended on an awakened Mirabelle.

Moreover, Mirabelle's magical ability was now on par with the strongest in this world. In other words, her magic resistance was also top-tier.

The moment my skills were classified as magic, they became incompatible with Mirabelle.

Usually, for slaves that are hard to control, you'd put every possible restriction on them.

Shackles, piercings, brandings, and even seals that only allowed them to use mana when the master desired.

There was a slave I needed to brand later, but I could never do that to Mirabelle. How could I do such a thing to Mirabelle as a slave lover? I couldn't.

"What a messed-up relationship. Whatever, we just need to get rid of that grimoire, right?"

"Violence is not an option."

"How considerate of you!"

A golden circle appeared beneath Myra's feet. As she stomped down with force, the circle bounced up and encircled her like a hula hoop.

Then, the circle shattered like glass, and the golden fragments were absorbed into Myra. A faint golden radiance emerged on the surface of Myra's body as it infused with the fragments.

"Julius!"

"Yes, Priestess."

"I'll handle her. You focus on minimizing casualties."

"As you command."

The Paladin called Julius left his position to join the Lord's Knight Order.

"Huuu…"

Myra exhaled deeply.

After a moment of savoring her body enhanced by divine power, she bent her knees and then…

BOOM!

She shot off like a cannon.

"Gah!"

The shockwave sent me rolling on the ground, covering me in dirt and dust.

Myra closed in on Mirabelle in an instant. As she collided with Mirabelle's barrier, golden sparks scattered in all directions.

"Is this what she calls holding back…?"

I crawled up from the ground, trying to compose myself.

Though I had casually shifted the responsibility to Myra, she wouldn't be able to stop the awakened Mirabelle.

Besides, it wasn't right to leave a slave's problem to others.

A slave's issues should be resolved by the master.

***

Mirabelle savored an exhilaration unlike anything she had ever felt before.

The magic of veteran mages who had honed their skills for decades turned to dust and vanished.

The clergy she once feared so much fell helplessly with just one spell. Even Myra, the priestess, was struggling valiantly but posed no significant threat.

Even the divine punch infused with the power of God couldn't leave so much as a scratch on the protective barrier.

Ahh, what had I been so afraid of all this time?

This too was a blessing from her master.

"This is punishment for daring to grab his arm."

The Heavenly Covenant blazed with brilliant light.

Hundreds of indigo streams carved intricate arcs through the air, converging on Myra in a relentless assault.

The sheer volume made dodging impossible.

Myra compressed her divine power and released it all at once to block the attack. Her divine explosion shattered Mirabelle's magic.

"Huff, huff…"

Myra panted heavily.

Karami had said not to hit Mirabelle, and she didn't want to hit such a cute girl either, but it turned out to be a needless worry.

Who's worrying about whom here?

Forget hitting, she couldn't even get close enough to snatch the grimoire.

Moreover, while Myra was on the verge of exhausting her divine power, Mirabelle showed no signs of depleting her mana despite casting spells relentlessly.

"Hey kid, why are you a slave? With that power, you could even kill your master, couldn't you?"

Mirabelle's aura suddenly turned cold as ice.

With just that, the air thickened with an oppressive pressure, forcing every living being with a soul to bow in submission.

"Keugh!"

Looking down at Myra who had collapsed to the ground trembling like an insect, Mirabelle spoke in a calm tone.

"I should have expected as much from you. You clergy always repay kindness with evil."

"What…?"

"Your kind think that you're superior, that the God you believe in is omnipotent. Yet all you do is idly stand by and watch."

Mirabelle's gaze and voice directed at Myra were sharp with blatant hostility. As if looking at something utterly detestable.

What could have made this young child like this?

Myra couldn't even begin to fathom the darkness this young girl harbored.

"In contrast, my master travels the world, saving pitiful slaves. He's far more amazing than the God you believe in."

"Hey now, that's not true~"

"It seems you still don't understand Master's greatness. I'll make you understand with this opportunity. You too, shall experience true liberation…"

As Mirabelle aimed the Heavenly Covenant at Myra, she noticed someone in her peripheral vision.

It was Karami, her master. And he was calmly walking away from the disaster-stricken city.

"Master?"

Mirabelle called out, but Karami didn't look back. He didn't even pause his steps. As if he didn't care what happened to Mirabelle.

Forgetting she was in the middle of a battle, Mirabelle approached Karami with adorable, bouncing steps. Her face was beaming with a bright smile, anticipating praise.

"Master! Where are you going? I'm almost done, so please wait just a little longer!"

"…"

"Master?"

Karami remained silent. Even when Mirabelle peeked out from beside him, he didn't spare her a glance.

Sensing something was off, Mirabelle stepped in front of Karami to block his path. Only then did Karami look at her, and though Mirabelle's face briefly lit up, it quickly froze when she saw his cold expression.

"M-Master…?"

"When did I tell you to do this?"

"What?"

"I don't recall telling you to turn the city into a wasteland."

"I-I thought I had understood your intentions and was trying to faithfully carry them out…"

"Haa…"

As Karami let out an exasperated sigh, Mirabelle's shoulders flinched visibly.

"Because of your reckless actions, I, as your master, am about to take all the blame. This makes external activities impossible, and we'll have to postpone the liberation of other slaves."

"Pardon?"

"It's all because of you, Miss Mirabelle. Countless slaves have been robbed of their chance at freedom."

No words came out of Mirabelle's mouth. She looked up at Karami with anxious, trembling eyes, forgetting even to breathe.

Karami gazed at her with eyes full of weariness, then slowly reached for her neck.

"I no longer see any value in keeping you as a slave."

He unclasped the collar around Mirabelle's neck and tossed it aside. The collar clattered as it rolled on the ground.

"You are disqualified as a slave. From now on, live as you please."
