We visited the Celestial Pavilion every day, and Rin learned several magic tricks in addition to shapeshifting.

Once you've learned a skill, what you need is experience. We prepared to go outside, intending to gain some practical experience.

"Are you going out?"

"Yes, I'm planning to take Rin to the forest. Would you like to join us, Miss Seira?"

Seira no longer stuck to me like before. She had other duties, and I was no longer a primary surveillance target.

I thought those might be her reasons for not coming, but Seira brought up something entirely different.

"Today is the night of the full moon. On full moon nights, wolf beastkins receive special leave."

"Do you get sick or something?"

"Our wild nature increases. Especially if we smell blood. We can control it to some extent, but it's better to be cautious. I plan to stay in my room today, so don't look for me. No, absolutely do not come."

"Understood. We'll be going then, so rest well."

With Seira seeing us off, we left the city.

We headed to the swamp area we often visited.

Slimes crawled on the ground.

Standing in the center of the swamp was Rin, with her fox orb floating in the air.

"Fufu, you evil slimes. After enduring for so long, the time for revenge has finally come!"

"You've never been wronged by them though."

"Don't interrupt, Mastah."

She seemed to have really gotten into character.

Since she was so immersed, I decided not to interfere.

Rin concentrated, using the magic she learned from Yuhwa. Light flickered in the fox orb.

Whoosh.

Three blue fox fires appeared.

"Amaterasu."

"Where did you learn that word?"

"Mastah."

Sigh. I must have unconsciously talked about that stuff while raising a gumiho.

It seemed too late now, but I should watch what I say from now on.

Rin's fox fires flew towards the slimes. They clung to the sluggishly writhing slimes and set them ablaze.

The slimes writhed as if screaming silently. Soon, all their fluids evaporated, and they disappeared without a trace.

Rin shook her head vigorously, her hair flying about.

"Ha, I have become too powerful. What do you think, Mastah? Isn't Rin pretty cool?"

"Hmm, at least you won't get dirty anymore. I guess we don't need to buy more dresses."

"That's not the point! You're supposed to say I'm cool!"

"You're super cool."

"Too late!"

Rin snorted and turned her head away.

The forest's outskirts no longer posed any threat to Rin. We decided to go a bit deeper to build up her spiritual power and gain more practical experience.

I followed behind Rin, who walked ahead holding her orb.

"Do you always have to carry that fox orb around?"

"Nope. Gwanny taught me how to put it away too."

Rin clenched her fist, and the fox orb disappeared with a soft sound. When she opened her hand again, it popped back into existence. This way, she wouldn't lose it.

Just then, Rin, who was walking ahead, started sniffing.

"Mastah, I smell blood. There's something ahead."

As Rin said, what appeared was a pack of wolves.

But they were huge.

Their fur was a deep reddish-brown reminiscent of dried blood stains. They had four eyes each, and their mouths were grotesquely split open, revealing all their fangs.

"Gasp! Mastah, it's Sewa!"

"Don't say that in front of Seira. Not all wolves are Seira."

They were yokai classified as Blood Wolves. Since Vestia was a beastkin kingdom, most monsters that appeared were in animal form.

Blood Wolves were quite tricky to deal with. Being wolves, they moved in packs, and they were in a berserker-like state that made them hard to take down.

Rin, as a three-tailed fox, should be able to win easily, but we shouldn't let our guard down.

"Rin, be careful. These are different from what you've faced so far."

"Worry? Nope. Just cheer for Rin!"

With those confident words, Rin spread her three tails and leapt in.

Having become proficient in using spiritual power, Rin could now employ various techniques beyond just magic.

Rin charged in, slashing at the air with her claws. Sharp claw-shaped slashes rained down on the Blood Wolves. The wolves were cut down along with the trees.

A series of continuous slashes followed. The Blood Wolves fell, cut to pieces.

"My, my, this is so boring I could die."

"It's not over yet."

"Eh?"

The dismembered corpses of the Blood Wolves began to twitch and slowly rise.

This was the Blood Wolves' passive ability.

They revive once after death.

As though each severed part had its own life, the lower bodies moved without their upper halves, spilling blood and entrails from the cut surface.

"Kyaaa! Mastah! Rin doesn't like this!"

"Don't you like meat? This is fresh meat."

"Mastah's gone crazy?! That's not meat!"

I had to admit, it was disgusting even to me.

In the game, they revived in their original form even after death, but now that it had become reality, they moved while remaining dead. It was a truly grotesque sight.

Rin, not wanting even a drop of blood to touch her, summoned fox fires to burn the Blood Wolves. The sizzling sound and smell of burning meat filled the air.

While Rin was burning the Blood Wolves, I looked around.

We shouldn't have come deep enough for Blood Wolves to appear.

Blood Wolves usually appeared in the Forest of the Crimson Night field. It was a dangerous area where dead wolves revived in a forest filled with the scent of blood.

But this was still a green forest. We should have been far from where Blood Wolves appeared.

Hmm…

I had a bad feeling about this.

"Rin, let's head back."

"No, Mastah. Rin's fine."

"There's no need to push ourselves…"

"Mastah doesn't trust Rin?"

Rin asked in a serious voice, dropping her usual exaggerated manner. This wasn't just a simple question; it touched on our mutual trust.

It made it difficult to insist on going back.

"Haah, alright. It should be fine to go further since Rin is here. But we're heading back before sunset."

"Okay! Got it!"

***

As they ventured deeper, they encountered more monsters, which Rin easily dispatched without any danger.

With just a flick of her fox fire, monsters helplessly burned away, the scent of charred flesh replacing the forest smell.

It was an endless cycle of power: expending spiritual energy to defeat monsters, then absorbing their essence to replenish that very energy. Drunk on her own strength, Rin even started humming.

Their progress was unimpeded, except for Karami's gradually depleting stamina due to lack of exercise.

We really should head back now.

As night approached, the forest's atmosphere began to change.

It was time for nocturnal beasts and monsters to become active. Being close to the Forest of the Crimson Night, the visible red mist created an ominous atmosphere.

Karami didn't like scary things.

"Rin, let's go back."

"Whyyy?"

"The sun will set soon. I'm getting tired too."

"Mastah should exercise more!"

"Instead of exercising, I should be freeing as many slaves as possible. Or you could carry me, Rin."

Rin looked at Karami like he was pathetic.

I'd understand if other people did that, but you of all people shouldn't look at me that way. You're in no position to sigh at others.

Karami thought this, but decided to be the adult and let it slide with generosity.

"Let's go. If we're late, Seira will worry."

"Okaaay."

The two turned around and started heading back the way they came.

Awoooooo.

A wolf's howl echoed through the forest. Dozens of pairs of beast eyes glinted in the dark undergrowth.

Afterward, slowly emerging from the darkness were Blood Wolves.

"Rin?"

"Hm?"

"Did you not realize we were surrounded?"

"Um… my nose hurt from the burning smell, so I didn't notice."

"Haah…"

"B-But it's okay! It'll be over in an instant, an instant!"

Whoosh!

Rin's fox fires flew in all directions, targeting the Blood Wolves. It seemed like they would burn effortlessly as before, but something unexpected happened.

One Blood Wolf leapt forward and blocked the fox fire. That wasn't all. It ran around with the blue flames enveloping its body, deliberately intercepting all the fox fires.

Usually, animals fear fire, but these showed no fear, not even seeming to feel pain.

"Rin, don't stop, keep firing!"

"O-Okay."

The flustered Rin summoned a large number of fox fires and launched them. The Blood Wolves tried to block them by burning their own bodies, but it was meaningless. Rin's spiritual power was inexhaustible.

The Blood Wolves' revival was the same. They were still on fire when they revived, turning to ash immediately. We were able to clear them out without much trouble.

However, perhaps due to her panic, Rin didn't control her power and launched an excessive amount of fox fire. The fire spread to the forest, covering it in blue flames.

The blue flames ascended into the sky.

The tips of the flames seemed to point to something—to the full moon.

With the blood mist acting like a filter, it looked like a crimson moon.

And today was the night of the full moon.

The full moon that increased the wolves' ferocity.

They were currently near the Forest of the Crimson Night, where Blood Wolves appeared.

Whoosh!

That was when the strong scent of blood wafted over.

What appeared, as expected, was a Blood Wolf. But this girl had six eyes instead of the usual four. Moreover, it stood on two legs, and despite its hunched back, it was easily 2.5 meters tall.

It was the Forest of the Crimson Night's Boss Monster, the Blood Wolfman.

"M-Mastah. It's really Sewa this time."

"Not all werewolves are the same."

While both Seira and the Blood Wolfman were werewolves, they were fundamentally different. This was a monster.

This is a bit tricky.

The Blood Wolfman was at the upper limit of what a three-tailed fox like Rin could handle without difficulty. But now it was a full moon night. The Blood Wolfman's stats had increased dramatically.

"Rin, there's no need to fight. Let's retreat. Please carry me."

"No. This is a matter of pride. Turning our backs would be a disgrace to foxes. Right now, Rin is invincible."

Ignoring Karami's words completely, Rin summoned fox fires and threw them at the Blood Wolfman.

The Blood Wolfman lowered its body. On all fours, it took a predator's hunting stance. Its hind legs swelled and then powerfully kicked off the ground.

It moved at a speed that Karami, a combat amateur, couldn't follow with his eyes. Even the fox fires couldn't keep up with the Blood Wolfman's speed and only chased its tail.

The Blood Wolfman rampaged through the forest. Suddenly, it stopped at a tree before launching its heavy body like an iron ball towards Rin.

Crash!

Trees were crushed. Its blood-red mane whipped violently in the air. In an instant, it closed the distance and swung its grotesque forepaw.

This might have been the first time Rin faced an attack with real killing intent. Though she could have been flustered, her response was agile. She dodged lightly with a fox's flexibility.

Then Rin clenched her fist tightly, wrapping ink spiritual power around her right hand. Condensing spiritual power in her fist, she unleashed a straight punch.

Bang!

The Blood Wolfman's body, hit directly in the abdomen, burst like a balloon, splattering blood and flesh everywhere.

It was just one hit.

One hit was enough.

Rin's strength, enhanced by becoming a slave, exceeded Karami's expectations.

"Anyways! Mastah worries too much!"

Rin turned her head back, excited at the thought of being praised, looking at Karami's surprised expression.

"Huh?"

Karami staggered, groaning. Hunched over, he clutched his abdomen with both hands, where a large claw was embedded.

It was the Blood Wolfman's claw. Being the farthest from the point of impact, the foot was closer to its original form compared to other body parts.

Unfortunately, that foot had flown towards where Karami was standing.

It was clearly misfortune.
