Chapter 742: Ring of Origin
After taking care of the Eryndors and giving them the resources they needed, Maximus returned to the Shadow Void Land.
"Is the store ready?" Maximus asked Valoros, the current manager of the Shadow Void Land.
"I've already had them build everything to your specifications," Valoros said, bowing as he showed Maximus the shop he had requested.
It was a simple shop, more majestic than those around it, but it only sold rings.
"Hmm, good. These are the Rings of Origin. I need you to start renting them out as soon as possible."
Although only a short time had passed, Maximus had already created trillions of rings in just a few decades.
"This is—?!"
Holding the Rings of Origin, Valoros was stunned.
The power they granted was negligible to him personally, but each ring held the full strength of a peak Tier 10 being.
And the knowledge they contained… Valoros felt like he was holding an ultimate treasure.
Such power! Such defiance! Such Majesty!
Judging by the sheer number, it was clear Maximus wanted to build an army.
"How much should I rent them for, Lord Maximus?" Valoros asked, finally collecting himself.
"That's up to you. I just need them on every being's arm in the Shadow Void Land."
If not for various complications, Maximus would set the price to the absolute limit.
But now, with time working against them, profit was meaningless.
"Is something the matter, Lord Maximus?"
Seeing how Maximus didn't seem to care about profit, Valoros frowned.
As far as he knew, when it came to money, his lord would squeeze out every last coin.
Especially for a heaven-defying treasure like this, letting him set the price freely? Valoros felt like he was dreaming.
"Just do what I say. I'll explain later."
"Hmm. As you command, my lord!"
Unable to ask more questions, Valoros got to work.
Mobilizing the Order of Maxim and the Etherium Council, they began promoting the abilities of the Ring of Origin across the Shadow Void Land, the Etherium Realm, the Chaos Dimension, and even throughout the entire Aeon Plane.
Although the Ring of Origin could only be used around the Shadow Void Land, it quickly drew attention from the masses.
---
Soon, the first customer, Kyle, found the shop and began asking for more details.
"These are Tier 10 Rings of Origin," the staff explained.
"As you may know, this treasure can raise your power to the peak of the Tier 10 realm and grant you a peak tier 10 profession of your choosing."
"It's real? How does it even work? It sounds crazier than an ultimate treasure. Where does it get the energy from?" Kyle asked, skeptical but intrigued.
"It was created by Lord Maximus himself. Naturally, he's the one providing the energy. As for authenticity, you can try it out first," the staff offered generously.
"It was created by Lord Maximus? I see..."
Hearing that Maximus was the creator, half of Kyle's doubts vanished instantly.
With limitless energy and mastery over knowledge, wasn't it just a matter of him waving his hand to make such a treasure?
Curious about how it worked, Kyle chose to try one, specifically, the ring that granted the Tier 10 Potioneering Alchemy profession.
As soon as he put it on, his power surged to the peak of the Tier 10 realm.
In his mind, deep knowledge of Tier 10 potioneering alchemy began to integrate, as if it were being etched directly into his muscles and soul.
Opening his eyes in delight, he felt like he had become a different person.
"Huh~ Is this even real?"
Looking at his hands, Kyle examined whether he was still in his own body.
Seeing that it was still his own flesh, spirit, and origin, he sighed in relief.
Taking out some alchemy materials from his storage ring, Kyle tested the new skills imprinted in his mind.
Creating a tier 9 potion he had a hard time creating before, he began refining and brewing the potion with the power of law.
Soon, with just a few flicks of his fingers, a Tier 9 potion appeared before his eyes.
"A-amazing..."
Even though it had happened right before him, he still couldn't believe the power of the Ring of Origin.
"How is it? Do you want to rent it?" the staff asked.
"Uh—"
Hearing the question, Kyle was stumped.
As amazing as the Ring of Origin was, the rental price was equally overwhelming.
According to the advertisement he'd seen, each Ring of Origin could be rented for 1 contribution point per day.
Rented for a year, it would only cost 300 contribution points.
For 100 years, it would be 20,000 points.
And for 1,000 years, it would cost 100,000 points!
The longer the rental, the better the discount.
Especially at the 1,000-year mark, if calculated, each day only costs about 0.3 contribution points.
It might seem low, but as a Tier 9 alchemist, even after working nonstop in the Shadow Void Land, he could only earn a few contribution points every year.
"No need to worry, sir. This is not for profit, but a benefit Lord Maximus has given to us."
"Based on the statistics, an average Tier 10 with peak-level professional ability can earn about 300,000 to 500,000 contribution points every thousand years."
"With the Ring of Origin, you can earn the same!" the staff bragged.
Despite the enthusiasm, Kyle stayed sober-minded.
The Ring of Origin could forcefully engrave professional knowledge into someone's mind, but without years of practice and effort, even if their knowledge matched that of a peak-level professional, their body would be stiff, uncoordinated, unable to fully adapt.
So, even with the Ring of Origin, those who had mastered their profession naturally could still outperform and out-earn those using the ring.
If he worked at the same pace as others while relying on the ring, he might not even earn enough to cover its rental cost.
But that only applied if he worked normally.
If he worked twice as hard, three times, or even ten times harder, his potential income could surpass millions in contribution points!
Compared to his pitiful earnings, such wealth was beyond his dreams.
Gripping the Ring of Origin in his hand, Kyle didn't want to let go.
"I don't have the money. Can I take a loan?"
"Sure. And if you use the full loan to rent a Ring of Origin, you get a discount. Instead of the usual 30%, you'll only pay 10% interest annually," the staff said with a smile.
"I'll take it!" Kyle said, relieved.
He was confident he could pay it off, but paying interest was like throwing money.
Hearing it was lower than usual; it was more bearable.
After signing the contract, Kyle walked out of the shop smiling.
From now on, the world would be as wide as the sea.
As long as he worked hard, he could reach for the stars.
Meanwhile, seeing Kyle leave with a smile, the crowd that had gathered began to bombard him with questions.
"No need to doubt it, the Ring of Origin was created by Lord Maximus. Now, if you'll excuse me..."
Not wanting to get tangled up with them, Kyle used his overwhelming new power to push through the crowd and headed straight to the Shadow Void Land Administrative Hall.
With the debt he now carried, he needed to start working immediately.
