Chapter 8: The Final Calm
At dawn, as the alarm went off, Yuujin instantly opened his eyes.
He sprang out of bed, quickly dressed himself, took care of his personal hygiene by washing his face and brushing his teeth, and then walked into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
Although that woman, Seriba, had returned, she never got up before noon as per her usual habit, so Yuujin only needed to make breakfast for himself.
After finishing breakfast and cleaning up the dishes and table, Yuujin, as usual, stepped out the door, heading to his workplace.
Yuujin worked at a Saiyan logistics facility, where spaceships frequently took off and landed, and strong Saiyan warriors often flew across the sky, wrapped in battle aura.
Familiar with every corner of the place, Yuujin's first task of the day was to check on the babies in the nursery.
Just like the past few days, these restless little ones were crawling all over the place, while some who were hungry were sitting on the ground crying, making the entire room a chaotic scene.
He picked up the babies who had crawled out of their cribs and returned them to their nests. Then, he prepared the nutrient milk specially formulated for them and gave each baby a bottle to suck on. After taking care of the other babies, Yuujin finally reached Kakarot and Broly.
The two little ones were already awake. Broly, as usual, lay still in his nest with a blank expression on his little face, while Kakarot next to him was crying loudly.
"Don't cry, don't cry…"
Yuujin picked up Kakarot and comforted her a little, then handed her an oversized bottle.
This finally calmed her down. Kakarot babbled happily while eagerly sucking on the bottle.
After settling Kakarot, Yuujin turned his attention to Broly.
While other Saiyan infants were constantly moving around, unable to sit still, Broly always lay there motionless, wearing a blank expression. It made Yuujin worry that she might end up a dull-witted girl.
Staying idle like that wasn't good. Yuujin flipped her over and gently massaged her little arms and legs to stimulate her energy flow before giving her a bottle too.
After a busy morning, he finally finished all the tasks in the nursery. However, there was still a lot of work waiting for Yuujin, so after settling the babies, he quickly left the nursery.
...
Gurgle... Gurgle...
In the large medical room, numerous Saiyan warriors soaked in medical pods, receiving treatment, while several uniformed medical staff operated computers, checking on the warriors' recovery.
Suddenly, the door to the medical room opened, and a young boy carrying cleaning tools walked in.
It was Yuujin.
Everyone here was familiar with Yuujin, and upon seeing him, they paid him no further attention.
To survive here, not only did he have to work meticulously without making mistakes, but also remain low-profile, which Yuujin did perfectly.
Unless someone had orders for Yuujin, no matter how long he stayed, he was as invisible as air to everyone.
Yuujin cleaned every corner quietly, avoiding making noise, occasionally glancing at the Saiyan warriors inside the medical pods.
Although Saiyans were known as the strongest fighting race in the universe, there were still many beings out there stronger than them. Even ants, if numerous enough, could kill an elephant. Thus, injuries and even deaths among Saiyan warriors on missions were not uncommon.
The medical equipment here was among the most advanced in the universe. As long as there was still a breath left, no matter how severe the injury, soaking in the pods for a few days would generally allow for full recovery.
A few medical staff members were gathered around a medical pod not far away.
Inside was a tall Saiyan male. Although Yuujin was observing from a distance, he instantly recognized the person inside—
Kakarot's father, Bardock!
It couldn't be helped; this man looked almost identical to Goku from the original story. The resemblance between father and son was uncanny, even the young Kakarot bore some similarities to him.
"No surprise that it's Bardock. At this rate, he should recover quickly."
"Yeah, despite being a low-class warrior, he fought hard to subdue Planet Kanassa."
"His battle power is already close to 10,000 now."
"For a low-class warrior, that's pretty impressive."
The medical staff didn't bother to lower their voices, so Yuujin heard them clearly.
Bardock's nearly 10,000 battle power was indeed astounding. Among Saiyan warriors at this stage, he ranked near the top. Even King Vegeta only had a power level of 10,000.
However, this didn't mean Bardock could compare to King Vegeta. In reality, he was still just a low-class warrior, and his status on this planet was far below King Vegeta's.
Saiyans valued not only raw battle power but also combat potential, as determined by their power level at birth. As a low-class warrior, Bardock often fought in battles, and near-death injuries were nothing new to him. While his current battle power was impressive, his potential was exhausted, making further improvement difficult.
King Vegeta, on the other hand, was different. It was said that he had never depleted his potential even once. If he wished, with a power level of just 10,000, he could quickly elevate himself to 25,000 using the Saiyan's unique traits.
Nevertheless, Bardock was already remarkable for a low-class warrior, and his strength had earned him recognition and a certain degree of honor. Even Seripa, who was notoriously proud, was willing to team up and follow him.
After finishing his cleaning duties in the medical room, Yuujin quietly left, unnoticed by anyone.
Over the next two days, Yuujin continued his routine, working during the day and returning at night to prepare meals for Seriba and train.
Although everything seemed the same as always, only Yuujin knew that this was merely the calm before the storm...
