Chapter 12: Whispers in the Shadows
A Shared Fear
Daniel's pulse quickened as he stared at Sofia.
"You saw him?" he asked, his voice lower than usual.
She nodded, her expression tense. "Yesterday. After training. He was across the street, looking right at you."
Daniel swallowed. "Did he follow you?"
"I don't think so," she said. "But… something felt off."
They stood there in silence for a moment. The classroom around them buzzed with chatter, but for Daniel, everything else faded into the background.
If Sofia had seen him too, this was real.
At lunch, Daniel, Sofia, Miguel, and Luis sat together. Daniel kept his voice low as he told Miguel and Luis what had been happening.
Miguel frowned. "That's messed up. Maybe we should tell someone."
Luis shook his head. "Tell who? The police? We don't even know what he wants."
Daniel sighed. "I just want to figure out who he is."
Sofia hesitated. "What if… we make him show himself?"
Luis raised an eyebrow. "You mean, like a trap?"
She nodded.
Miguel grinned. "I like it."
Daniel wasn't sure if it was a good idea, but deep down, he knew one thing—he couldn't keep running from this.z
That evening, Daniel walked home alone, his hands in his pockets. He took a different route than usual, turning down a narrow side street.
He had a feeling.
And he was right.
Footsteps.
Someone was following him.
Daniel stopped.
The footsteps stopped too.
Slowly, he turned around.
The man in the hoodie stood at the end of the street, partially hidden by shadows.
Daniel's chest tightened.
For a second, they just stared at each other.
Then, the man smirked.
And vanished.
Not walked away.
Vanished.
Daniel's breath caught in his throat.
This was no ordinary stalker.
This was something much worse.
