To Sin Is Divine

Chapter 13: Chapter 13: The Wrath Unleashed (Part II)

The bells of Velharem tolled with unnatural rhythm.

Not a song of worship.

A summoning.

From the highest tower of the Sin Cathedral, black smoke billowed upward, coiling into a column that split the clouds. The sky dimmed. Light trembled.

Kael stared up from the city square, sword in hand.

[System Warning: Wrath-Class Entity Detected]

Designation: "Throne of Wrath"

Tier: Godbound.

Power Signature: Unstable.

"Godbound?" Zayne whispered. "You're telling me they're summoning a god?"

"No," Elyan said quietly, stepping beside Kael. "They're summoning something that thinks it is."

The Throne Descends

The cathedral doors split open.

What emerged was not a man.

It was a weapon wearing flesh.

Ten feet tall. Armor fused with bone. Six crimson halos hovered behind it, pulsing with fury. Its chest glowed like a furnace, and its eyes were pits of fire.

The Throne of Wrath stepped into the light—and the ground screamed beneath its feet.

"KAEL DRAVEN," it boomed, voice layered with thousands of agonized echoes.

"YOU BEAR VIRTUE. YOU DEFY DIVINITY. YOU WILL BE ERASED."

Kael stepped forward. "You call yourself divine."

He raised his blade.

"Let's see how divinity bleeds."

Phase One: The Shockwave of Hate

The Throne raised its arm—and the air ignited.

A wall of fire erupted across the battlefield. Ren yanked two civilians behind a cart. Zayne dropped a holy barrier just in time.

Kael dashed through the flames—barely ahead of the pressure wave.

[Skill: Stillness Zone – Activated]

"Time slowed. Reaction speed increased by 200%."

He struck.

His sword hit the Throne's chest.

Clang.

It didn't cut.

The Wrath entity backhanded him into a wall.

BOOM.

[Damage Received: -41 HP]

Cooldown active.

Serah launched forward with a blinding holy charge, her sword glowing with Chastity's light.

The Throne caught her blade mid-swing—and shattered it with one hand.

She flew backward, crashing into a column.

Zayne rushed to her side.

"Her ribs are broken," he gasped.

Phase Two: The Fusion of Virtues

Kael coughed blood and rose to his feet.

"We can't beat it head-on."

Ren appeared beside him. "Suggestions?"

Kael's system flashed.

[Ascended Skill Unlocked: Light of the Seven – Lv.1]

"Combine all Virtue bearers in synchronized assault. One target. One judgment."

Cooldown: 7 days.

Kael turned to Elyan. "You ready?"

The old priest nodded. "Humility was never meant to kneel to sin."

Kael raised his blade.

"Then let's remind the world."

Each bearer stepped forward:

Zayne, pulsing with Kindness, glowing with the light of mercy.

Ren, flipping his daggers, grinning through the fear.

Serah, wounded but unbroken, blade reforged in resolve.

Ten, eyes burning with Diligence, moving like a shadow.

Elyan, calm, centered, surrounded by peaceful light.

They gathered behind Kael.

Kael held his sword up.

[Skill Activated: Light of the Seven]

A golden sigil bloomed beneath them.

Power surged.

Their virtues synced.

[Status: Perfect Sync Achieved]

Each voice echoed through Kael's mind.

"This is for the innocent."

"This is for my brother."

"This is for who I used to be."

"This is for the world before sin."

Kael's blade ignited with all seven colors of virtue.

He dashed.

The Throne roared and unleashed a divine shockwave.

Kael moved through it like wind through fire.

One strike.

A single, perfectly placed blow—carried by the strength of every virtue.

SLASH.

The Throne's chest cracked.

Light burst from within.

Phase Three: The Fall of Wrath

The Wrath entity staggered, gasping as if discovering fear for the first time.

"NO… I AM DIVINE… I AM—"

Kael stepped forward.

"You were just another tool."

He plunged the blade through its core.

A blinding eruption of light tore through the city square.

When it faded…

The Throne was gone.

Only ash remained.

Aftermath

The people watched in stunned silence.

Then they began to kneel.

Not out of fear.

Out of choice.

Ren dropped to the ground, panting. "That… was the stupidest, coolest thing I've ever done."

Zayne laughed softly. "I thought we were dead."

Serah smiled through cracked lips. "We still might be."

Ten stood in silence, staring at the ash. "They'll come harder next time."

Elyan turned to Kael. "This was only the first seal."

Kael nodded.

"Then we break the rest."
