The dimly lit corridor remained silent. Steve reached out and touched the household registration booklet in his chest, then gently pushed the door open.

Ruby Gregory seemed to have been waiting for him for a long time and couldn’t stay awake, so she fell asleep leaning against the back of the sofa, with her head tilted sideways.

Ruby obediently stopped moving, snuggling into Steve’s chest and allowing him to hold her quietly.
