Tohka Yatogami's: Marvel Journey

Chapter 139: Shaken New York

"What's going on? What just happened?"

The sudden tremor caught everyone off guard, including Tohka, forcing them all flat to the ground—

Even that whole crowd of black muscle bros.

Of course, Tony, who had been hovering in mid-air, was completely unaffected.

He only felt the pressure around him suddenly lighten, and then noticed that everyone—including Tohka—nearly lost their footing.

"What the hell now? Don't tell me those guys planted bombs too?"

Tony glanced around and was surprised to find nothing wrong.

Not even the distant buildings were damaged in the slightest, so he wasn't too concerned.

But then, a new wave of enemies swarmed in again.

"Spider-Man, this is all your fault. Did these guys copy your spider-sense too?" Tohka got up from the ground and immediately re-equipped her armor.

After all, Tony's suit came with a targeting system—

And these enemies were ridiculously slippery.

She could barely land a hit.

Mainly because she was holding back.

If they were in a deserted area, Tohka would've already blasted these black muscle bros into dust.

Then, a suit of purple-gold armor reappeared on her body.

Tohka flew into the air just like Tony, hovering mid-sky.

All her weapons deployed again.

"Jarvis, help me target these guys. I've got a big present for them."

With a cold smile at the swarm of black tight-suit muscle men, Tohka gave Jarvis a command.

She had to admit—Tony's armor was amazing.

Not only was it precise, it could help her control the power output too.

"Apologies, miss. The targets seem capable of evading our lock-on system. Both you and Tony will have difficulty locking onto them."

Just then, Jarvis's voice responded.

"Don't even bother. These guys seem to have that brat's powers. Jarvis can't target them. Damn it, that's what's giving me a headache the most."

As Tohka complained, Tony's big face popped up in her HUD—

Clearly annoyed.

"By the way, swing by my place later. Your armor could use an upgrade too. Looks like I seriously need to upgrade the targeting system. Got any better ideas?"

"Sure—firepower suppression."

Tohka nodded and offered the simplest solution.

Then she unleashed a blinding light from her body.

"Jarvis, lock on to Hawkeye and the others. Just avoid hitting them—anything else doesn't matter."

"Hey hey, are you nuts?"

Seeing the surge of light around Tohka, Tony nearly freaked out. She was using a huge amount of energy—enough to last him quite a while.

But Tohka didn't care. All the cannons on her body unleashed at once. In an instant, dust and debris filled the air.

The black muscle bros were blasted into chaos. Many were hit directly—the symbiotes were knocked back, and the men under their control fell unconscious.

"Hey hey! What the hell are you doing?!"

Under Tohka's barrage, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Spider-Man all scrambled for cover,

Fearing they'd be hit next.

Even though Tohka's attacks looked overwhelming, not that many were actually struck—

Which made Black Widow uncomfortable.

Just how much energy did this girl have? Didn't she know how to conserve it?

"This isn't going to work. If you keep going, you'll blow up half of New York."

Tony muttered from mid-air as he observed the battlefield. Tohka's attacks had already taken out two floors of a building, and the enemy still wasn't seriously weakened.

"No worries. Once Miku finishes clearing the civilians below, we're good. She's their natural enemy. Just watch."

Tohka shrugged nonchalantly. She already knew the symbiotes were weak to ultrasonic attacks, and she'd told Miku that before leaving.

"Alright, whatever. Wait, you're not telling me she's gonna control these things, right?"

Clearly, Tony hadn't forgotten Miku either. But he wasn't too worried—he didn't want to end up mind-controlled like Spider-Man.

"Well… that might be difficult."

Tohka wasn't just making excuses.

The symbiotes were the ones in control now,

So, controlling the human hosts wouldn't work.

And no one knew if the symbiotes were even susceptible to that power.

"Okay then… wait, what's going on now?"

Tony was about to say more, but suddenly—

A tremor, stronger than the last one, shook the ground.

This time, all of New York visibly trembled.

"What now? Is New York about to have an earthquake?"

Black Widow panicked slightly, grabbing onto the nearest structure to avoid falling.

This was New York—and at night no less.

And New York wasn't exactly peaceful. Most people would be home.

If an earthquake hit now…

"Jarvis, scan everything. I want to know what's happening—right now."

Seeing the black-suited chaos Tohka had already suppressed, Tony activated the scanner on his armor.

He had to get to the bottom of this—

The situation was way too bizarre.

"No need. We've already found it."

Just then, Nick Fury's voice came in.

Gotta admit—S.H.I.E.L.D. was pretty on the ball this time.

"Where is it? We'll head there immediately."

Tony didn't hesitate.

"What about the situation in front of you? The energy readings inside that area are massive. Who's best suited to enter safely?"

Fury's voice came back, calm and commanding.

"Uh… then what do you suggest?"

Tony realized they were stuck in a tough spot.

"Leave these guys to your team. Send Tohka ahead. You'll handle things here—just be careful not to get touched by that stuff." Fury ordered.

With that, Tohka stopped her attacks. Truth be told, she'd much rather check out whatever the new threat was than waste time with these guys. She didn't understand this world anymore.

"Hold them off until Miku comes out. I'm heading out."

With a burst of acceleration, Tohka vanished into the distance.
