Tohka Yatogami's: Marvel Journey

Chapter 16: Professor X

"Yeah, I don't think American law prohibits residents from going out, right? Or are you, middle-aged uncle, planning some illegal detention... play?" Tohka said, giving him a mock fearful look, as if she might run off at any moment.

"What kind of nonsense are you thinking, you little brat? Do I look like that kind of person?" Fury's already dark face somehow darkened further as he looked at Tohka's mock-fearful expression. If he could take her in a fight, he'd have loved to crack open her head and see what was inside.

He had seen plenty of people pretending to be innocent, but Tohka's genuine innocence left him at a loss for words. Were all naturally innocent girls this sharp?

"Do as you please, I'm leaving." To avoid being driven mad by Tohka, Fury decisively left her room and sat in Tony's living room to wait for him. He now had a clearer understanding of Tohka. In his eyes, she was someone who simply wanted to live her own life, with no grand ambitions or malicious intentions.

"Tch, that guy." Watching Fury leave, Tohka didn't say anything and went back to what she was doing. If her guess was right, HYDRA might have noticed her by now. But she wasn't worried about those guys.

She genuinely didn't think anyone on Earth could take her out silently, and if anyone tried, it would cause a massive commotion. For a group like HYDRA, which thrived on secrecy, that would be a costly mistake.

Still, Tohka decided to remain cautious—after all, plenty of people had been caught off guard by seemingly minor threats.

"How long are you planning to stay here? By the way, don't tell Tony, but can you lift the signal block? I need to order takeout." After finishing her packing, Tohka noticed Fury sitting in the living room, deep in thought. The guy had blocked the signals, making it impossible for her to even order food.

"Oh." Fury glanced at Tohka and immediately lifted the signal block without hesitation. His instincts told him that not doing so would lead to trouble. He might even end up in the hospital for a while.

"Hmph, smart move." Satisfied with Fury's reaction, Tohka ordered her food and left decisively. Labor costs in America were expensive, unlike back home, and her location in the suburbs meant most families probably couldn't afford such services anyway.

Sure enough, after a day of revelry and basking in praise, Tony returned to his villa in the evening. The moment he walked in, he was startled to see Fury standing by the window.

"Did you think you were the only superhero?"

"....."

Tohka wasn't privy to the conversation between the two. Fury also hadn't mentioned anything about the Avengers initiative to her—after all, it was still in the planning stage. He didn't trust a young girl to keep such a secret; if word got out, it could easily become nationwide news.

"What did the one-eyed guy say? You don't look too happy," Tohka asked the next morning, noticing Tony's constipated expression. Although the movies didn't say much about it, she was curious.

"Nothing much, just a self-important guy. By the way, aren't you planning to travel? I've arranged for my driver to accompany you the entire time. If you run into any trouble, just let him know. And stay safe."

Of course, the "stay safe" was just lip service. As Iron Man, Tony was a walking magnet for trouble. He could already imagine countless people scheming for his armor, which was why it would be best for him to avoid unnecessary outings during this time.

But when it came to Tohka… honestly, Tony thought she was far more dependable than himself in a dangerous situation. Without his armor, he was just an ordinary person, and he couldn't always wear it. He simply assigned his portly driver to keep an eye on Tohka to prevent anyone clueless from angering her—there was no need for additional security detail.

"Got it. I'm heading out." With that, Tohka left Tony's villa. Outside, she saw Hogan, the driver who had been waiting for her. This seemingly honest, chubby man was famously played by the director himself in the movies.

"Hello, Miss Tohka. Shall we head to the airport? The plane's ready and waiting. Where do you plan to go?" the cheerful, chubby driver greeted her enthusiastically.

"I don't know…" Tohka froze at Hogan's question, realizing she hadn't even decided on a destination. This left Hogan momentarily speechless. He had already heard about Tohka's personality from Tony and Pepper, but seeing it firsthand, he realized this girl was truly one of a kind—planning a trip without even knowing where to go.

"Forget it, just take me somewhere with good food." Waving her hand, Tohka came up with the perfect reason. To her, as long as there was good food, the place didn't matter.

"Got it. I was going to say…" Hogan paused mid-sentence, suddenly freezing for a moment before continuing, "Understood, Miss Tohka. Please follow me."

"Let's go." Tohka didn't question Hogan's sudden change in demeanor and got into the car without hesitation. Hogan drove steadily, leaving Tony's villa behind.

"This road isn't leading to the airport," Tohka suddenly realized, snapping out of her daydream. The car wasn't heading in the direction of the airport. While she might be a bit absent-minded, the silence outside was too noticeable. Airports were typically bustling, but this area was eerily quiet.

"Hello, Miss Tohka. I apologize for bringing you to this place—I simply wanted to meet the remarkable young lady that you are," came a warm and intelligent voice from Hogan's mouth. It was a voice that Hogan could never have spoken with—it carried a sense of profound wisdom that Tohka could instantly recognize.

Tohka was certain that Hogan wasn't capable of speaking in such a way.

"Who are you?" Seeing Hogan in front of her, Tohka immediately activated her armor. She wasn't done yet—she was fully prepared to smash her way out of the car if necessary.

"Please don't be alarmed, Miss Tohka. I mean you no harm," Hogan's body spoke quickly to reassure her. "Allow me to introduce myself—I'm Charles Xavier. You may call me Professor X. And rest assured, your friend is unharmed; I haven't done anything to him."
