Chapter 111: daisuki
Y/n's POV
It feels like a bittersweet fate to have the ones I knew before still coming to find me. The twins left, saying they'd bring me back some of their best Ramen specials within the next few days. Nahoya said I would like the one named after him, but Souya quickly spoke up. "She's too sweet to try yours. She'll never be able to use her tastebuds ever again."
The comment still made me smile as I remembered when we lived under the same roof, I avoided any and all spicy things Nahoya offered after trying one once and chugging half a gallon of milk afterward. Souya was so worried.
I stood in my living room, staring at each picture I had either taken from years before or had drawn from memory.
I'm glad that even in this final timeline, most of them are okay. It's odd that the twins told me about the gang, but when I started to ask about Mikey, they quickly changed the subject….I guess he really did want someone else.
A rap at my door yanked me from my thoughts. As I made my way to greet my new visitor, I couldn't help but wonder who would be here now. When I opened the door, it was a man I knew I had never met. Before confusion and fear could take over, I heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, beautiful! Ya miss me?" My heart thudded in my chest at the voice. I couldn't figure it out as the stranger in front of me was definitely not the one I remember, but I noticed his phone in his front jack pocket, situated in a way that allowed me to see a video call. "I know you had to since I'm a very handsome guy after all. Handsome and beautiful go well together, so.."
I smiled brightly as I interrupted. "Shut up, Ran."
I heard his soft chuckle as he turned the camera away from his face. "I am some kind of crazy to have missed that of all things." There was a brief moment of silence before he continued. "You're the only one who ever told me to shut up when I flirt with you. I took it as a challenge to get you to warm up to me, but it didn't work the way I thought it would."
I smiled at the memory. "You weren't flirting because you actually liked me, Ran. You flirt with everyone." Before he could talk more, I answered his first question. "But yes, I do really miss you."
He let out a soft curse. "You really are a beautiful woman with a heart of gold, but Rin is right. You are definitely an oblivious idiot."
I raised an eyebrow in confusion, hoping he would explain, but the call ended. The stranger passed me a small jewelry box before leaving without a word. I held the box in my hands, turning it over before finally opening it.
It was a heart shaped necklace molded from gold. I held it close and laughed as I remembered what he said only a few moments ago. I held it up to unclasp it but noticed something engraved on it.
"だいすき" or "Daisuki".
"I love you".
