Torn between passion and power

"Sure, it's not like I'm running away with something I can't buy," Avery said to her

She bent down and helped the woman with her bags, she turned to the woman and said;

" Lead the way"

The woman hummed and led the way to the parking lot. After ten minutes of walking to the parking lot, both ladies reached their destination. They stood behind a luxurious car, the woman opened her boot, and Avery helped put her shopping bags in the boot.

" Thanks for your help". The woman said

" My pleasure" Avery responded

"Since you didn't steal anything from me, I can point out that you are a good person."

Avery raised her eyebrow and said;

" So you thought I'd steal from you?"

"Not really, but I just didn't trust you at first and I still don't, but let bygones be bygones. You are a good person I guess."

" You hate strangers, don't you?" Avery couldn't help to ask.

" Not really, but some, I'm starting to like you." the woman said

" Mm".Avery hummed

"Hannah, the name is Hannah". Hannah stretched her hand for a handshake. Avery shook her hand before introducing herself

" Avery".

" Nice name."When they were done introducing themselves, Avery went back to the mall. Suzzy rushed to her.

" YAY!, where have you been? I've been looking for you everywhere, I also called you." Suzzy angrily said

Avery bit her tongue slightly, she brought out her phone to check.

"I'm sorry Suzzy, I placed my phone on silent mode, that's the reason I couldn't answer your call and I was talking to someone?"

" Who were you talking to?"

"A woman who was waiting for her bodyguards " Avery answered.

"Ok,"

"Let's go home, "Avey said

" Wait, remove your phone from silent mode "

Avery nodded her head and did what Suzzy said, when she was done, an incoming call came through. Avery frowned when she saw the number, her boss was calling her. Avery didn't want to answer the call. Suzzy was looking at her when Avery's phone rang again, she planned not to answer but Suzzy snatched it from her and answered the call.

" Avery." Suzzy heard the caller saying.

"Who is this ?" Suzzy asked

"Avery?"

" Mr., if you're going to mention my baby's name without talking then please hang up"

"Baby?"Alex asked

" Yeah, Avery is my baby"

" Hold on, you're a female right?"Alex asked

"Yes?"

"Then Avery is not your baby, she can't date a female."Alex firmly said

"You can't decide for her," Suzzy flared up.

"Listen, I'm not in the mood to argue with you, give the phone to her," Avery growled

Suzzy rolled her eyes before giving the phone to Avery.

"Have it"

Avery collected the phone from Suzzy;

"Hello?"

" Avery?"Alex asked to verify

"Yeah, it's me" Alex was relieved to hear her voice.

"Stay away from that friend " Alex warned

"What do you want boss?"Avery was not in the mood to talk to him

"Come to the office within an hour or two"

"Today is my resting day,"

" You do know, you're my secretary right?"

"I know "

" Then be here within an hour".

"I thought said an hour or two "Avery exclaimed

" Changed my mind, darling"

"Mm" Avery hummed before disconnecting the call.
