Torn between passion and power

Avery sat on the sofa beside Alex, looking at the face of her boss which was adorable, anyone who saw it wouldn't believe that he was the annoying boss. She was tempted to touch his face but paused when she remembered the incident earlier.

She left the place to her room, took her bath and came back to the living room.

She was horrified when she saw Alex at the edge of the sofa. She rushed quickly to help but Alex fell on her leg making her also strip and fall.

" Argh! Why can't you let me live my life in peace? " Avery exclaimed

She struggles to get Alex back to the sofa.

She helped Alex by removing his shoes and coat. She needs a raise in her salary. She went to her room and got a duvet for her boss.

Done with everything she went to her room to have her rest.

Alex groaned as he felt his head throbbing, he shouldn't have drunk a lot. He was startled as he opened his eyes to find himself in an unfamiliar environment.

" Where am I?" he asked himself

He got up from the sofa to look around, he noticed that it was a female room but, he didn't remember going to the club. Walking aimlessly in the living room, he spotted a picture of her secretary, he was in Avery's house.

A smile creeps on his lips. She took him to her house, what does that mean?

Does that mean she trusts him? Since he knew he was in her house maybe he could look around, he couldn't let this opportunity slip. He started his mission in her kitchen, he wanted to know her likes and dislikes. He found junk food in her fridge which made him frown. Why wasn't she eating healthy food?

There wasn't much for him to see, so he retired back to the sofa, sitting there the incident that happened earlier popped up in his mind.

" What was wrong with her mother? Why doesn't she believe him and only trust Charles? " he sighs as he rests his head on the headboard of the sofa. He promised himself to do everything in his power to gain Avery's trust if that meant fighting, he wore his shoes and took his coat. He called his driver to come pick him up.

Avery woke up as her alarm rang, she was too tired to get up but remembered her boss.

She rushed to the living room but there was no sign of Alex anywhere.

" Did he leave? " She asked herself

She shrugged her shoulders, and for us on herself.

Getting ready for work, Avery moved downstairs waiting for a taxi. A taxi stopped in front of her, and she entered nonchalantly. She rests her head on the headboard, she wishes she could resign from her job. What happened yesterday has taught her a lot. She couldn't just trust anyone.

She felt an incoming headache and everything became blurry.

She felt weak, what was happening to her?

She closed her eyes since she couldn't help but feel sleepy.

The driver looked at her in the rearview mirror and smirked
