As the grandfather and granddaughter conversed, noon arrived swiftly.
The carriage pressed onward without pause, cutting deep into the Sunset Forest. Dugu Bo's oppressive aura radiated outward, scattering any soul beasts that dared approach and ensuring safe passage.
Before long, the group reached a barrier of thick, swirling poison mist, forcing the carriage to halt.
"Wake up, little monster. We're here." Dugu Bo nudged Wu Tong awake before ushering both youths out.
Wu Tong feigned ignorance as he studied the impenetrable fog. "Where? I don't see this legendary Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire you mentioned."
"Beyond this mist. Take these poison-neutralizing pills—follow closely and don't wander, or even I won't be able to save you." Dugu Bo swallowed one of the three pills he produced, distributing the others with stern gravity.
Wu Tong and Dugu Yan nodded solemnly before trailing Dugu Bo through the toxic haze. At the cliff's edge, he pointed downward, where crimson and azure light pulsed within the fog.
"There. Your Yin-Yang Eyes."
Wu Tong channeled soul power, sharpening his vision to pierce the mist. Below lay a pool shaped like a yin-yang taiji—two springs intertwined yet distinct.
One half shimmered ice-blue, exhaling glacial breath; the other churned vermilion, its waters boiling. Where their opposing energies met, steam billowed, shrouding the mountaintop in perpetual mist.
"The Yin-Yang Eyes of Ice and Fire… Truly nature's masterpiece!" Even forewarned, Wu Tong couldn't suppress his awe.
Dugu Bo puffed up proudly. "Magnificent, no? Countless rare herbs thrive here—though I've never identified which might cure us."
"Relax, old man. This place isn't just a toxin suppressant—it's the ultimate medicinal paradise." Wu Tong gestured broadly. "The Three Great Treasure Basins accelerate plant growth tenfold. A decade here equals a century elsewhere. Every herb here is priceless."
Dugu Bo's eyes lit with understanding. "No wonder they flourish together!"
"But heed this," Dugu Bo warned, especially to Dugu Yan. "The ice-fire miasma corrodes flesh. Even I can't endure long exposure. You must leave before it overwhelms you."
Wu Tong rolled his eyes. "Obviously. I've done my research. Lecture Yanzi instead—I'm heading down." He dashed off before Dugu Bo could retort.
The old man sighed but turned to drill precautions into Dugu Yan's skull.
Meanwhile, Wu Tong breached the mist, his Red Wheel Heart Sutra flaring to life. Shaoyang Qi erupted like wildfire, vaporizing the encroaching fumes.
"Huh?" He paused, sensing his energy circulating 30% faster. The opposing forces of the springs—their push-pull harmony—resonated with his sutra's yang extremity, tempering its ferocity with newfound fluidity. Combat efficiency skyrocketed.
"A cultivation haven AND an herb goldmine?" Wu Tong grinned before surveying the botanical wonders: Cinnabar Lotuses glowing like embers, Snow Silkworms nestled in frost, Nine-Leaf Ginseng roots pulsing with vitality, and even a Tianshan Snow Lotus—all thriving in impossible proximity.
"To think such a place exists…"
"Thanks to Zavien King for his support!"
