Upon returning to their respective factions, the envoys reported the findings from their visit to the Dugu residence to their superiors.

The revelations naturally caused an uproar.

Had they not sent their most loyal subordinates, the faction leaders would never have believed such claims to be true.

The reappearance of the deceased Dugu Xin. Revival items. A Trial Taker. Resource exchanges…

Any one of these would have been enough to send shockwaves through the continent, let alone all of them occurring at once. It sounded like something out of a folk tale.

Yet it was undeniably real.

Thus, the consensus among the major factions was clear: gather resources as quickly as possible before others could react.

Beneath this growing undercurrent, the great powers began to move.

...

Spirit City.Pope's Hall.

"So, it truly is the work of a god."

Bibi Dong sighed as she listened to Ju Douluo and Ghost Douluo's account.

Divine intervention—and from the sound of it, Wu Tong was the deity's sole chosen successor. That meant acting against him was no longer a viable option.

For now, I'll have to stabilize relations with him. I just hope he doesn't interfere with my Spirit Hunting Plan.

A shadow passed over her expression.

Still, thinking of the deity's generosity, Bibi Dong couldn't help but feel a pang of envy.

"Some people inherit godhood with the deity practically begging them to take it, offering treasures in exchange for mere scraps—as if they were the god's own child."

In the eyes of those in power, resources, while valuable, paled in comparison to the divine artifacts Wu Tong could obtain.

To Bibi Dong, trading resources for such treasures was akin to exchanging trash for pearls.

"And yet, when I inherited my godhood, I had to endure the corrosion of the Rakshasa God's power, suppress my cultivation, and was forbidden from using my full strength. On top of that, I only received a single divine artifact."

"Is the Rakshasa God just that impoverished, or is this deliberate? Is this really how a successor should be treated?"

Her resentment simmered.

Divine Realm.Rakshasa God's Temple.

Achoo!

"What in the…? I'm already a god—why am I sneezing? Is someone plotting against me?"

The Rakshasa God rubbed his nose, suddenly paranoid.

Given how many enemies he'd made in the divine realm, his suspicion wasn't entirely unfounded. He was, by all accounts, universally disliked.

"Was it the Sea God? The Angel God? The Fire God? …Or could it be the Asura God?"

Thinking of what he'd done at the Asura God's chosen inheritance site, the Rakshasa God felt a twinge of guilt.

But could he really be blamed? The Asura God had built his trial grounds in a place so saturated with negative emotions and killing intent that resisting the temptation had been impossible.

"Still, it won't be long now. Once that scapegoat successor ascends, I'm making my escape. Once I'm out in the cosmos, it won't be so easy for Asura and the others to find me."

The thought of their frustration brought a smirk to his face.

Spirit City.Pope's Hall.

As Bibi Dong silently vented her grievances about the Rakshasa God, a seed of doubt took root in her heart regarding his true intentions—though she showed no outward sign of it.

Her gaze settled on the two men before her.

"Yueguan, Gui Mei, since you were the ones to bring back this information, you will oversee Spirit Hall's involvement in Wu Tong's academy construction."

"As you command, Your Holiness."

...

Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect.Main Hall.

"Fengzhi, this news is monumental. We must begin preparations immediately."

Gu Rong's excitement was palpable as he listened to Ning Fengzhi recount the tasks assigned to their sect.

"Who would have thought that the boy you and Old Sword saved back then would cause such a stir now?"

Ning Fengzhi smiled gently.

"Neither Uncle Sword nor I could have predicted this. At the time, we only intervened because Wu Tong was under Qinghe's protection. To think it would lead to such a windfall…"

"Though I must admit, I didn't expect Wu Tong's envisioned faction to be an academy. Yet, it suits him perfectly."

Recalling Dugu Bo's words, Ning Fengzhi couldn't help but agree—an academy was indeed the ideal fit for Wu Tong.

"Uncle Sword, let us begin our preparations. Retrieve Rongrong from her travels—it's time she stopped fooling around. Once Wu Tong's academy is established, we'll enroll her there."

"Understood. I'll depart at once."

Chen Xin didn't hesitate. Having Wu Tong as Rongrong's mentor would be far superior to any alternative, and it would put their minds at ease.

Though he sensed Ning Fengzhi might have ulterior motives, Chen Xin didn't object. After all, it was for Rongrong's benefit.

"Uncle Gu, summon the elders. We must discuss the location for Wu Tong's academy."

...

Heaven Dou Imperial Palace.

"What?! Resurrection? A deity? A Trial Taker?"

Emperor Xue Ye's face was a picture of disbelief as he listened to Xue Qinghe's report.

"Indeed, Father. These were all confirmed by Dugu Bo himself, and his son's resurrection is irrefutable. I have no doubt of its authenticity."

Xue Qinghe met his father's incredulous gaze with steady composure.

"Excellent! To think your associate—no, your dear friend—Wu Tong would become a Trial Taker! Given the circumstances, his ascension to godhood is all but guaranteed. You've done remarkably well, Qinghe."

"Therefore, I entrust the matter of Wu Tong's academy to you. Ensure it is handled flawlessly."

Emperor Xue Ye regarded the poised, dignified crown prince before him with growing approval.

"By your command, Father. I will see this matter through to perfection."

Xue Qinghe bowed deeply.

"Then waste no time. Proceed at once."

With a nod of dismissal, Emperor Xue Ye watched as his son withdrew.

...

Crown Prince's Residence.Xue Qinghe's Bedchamber.

A soft golden glow rippled through the room as Xue Qinghe dispelled his disguise, reverting to his true form—Qian Renxue.

Cascading golden hair, skin like flawless jade, and breathtaking beauty that could drive men to madness were reflected in the mirror.

"Who would have thought Wu Tong would gain a deity's favor? From Dugu Bo's description, it seems he's been designated as the sole successor—meaning his godhood is assured."

Qian Renxue's lips, red as ripe cherries, parted slightly as she mused aloud.

A pity there was no one else in the room to witness her true radiance.

"As expected of the talent I chose. Though, while Wu Tong has already embarked on the path to divinity, I wonder how much longer I must maintain this charade."

With a sigh, she reclined onto the bed.

"Ah, well. What will be, will be. I can only imagine how my dear 'sister' is reacting to this news. What expression would she wear if she knew of my connection to Wu Tong?"

A mocking smile played on her lips at the thought of that woman.

"Elder Ci Hu, I need you to eliminate Prince Xue Xing and Xue Beng."

Now that Dugu Bo was tied to Wu Tong, Prince Xue Xing could no longer be left alive. Better safe than sorry.

If Xue Xing were to sow discord later, his history with Dugu Bo might indeed cause complications.

As for Xue Beng? A trivial matter. Did he truly believe she hadn't noticed his years of feigned incompetence? How exhausting it must have been, maintaining that act for so long.

"As you wish, Your Highness."

A shadowy figure darted away into the night.

"Elder She Mao, arrange a meeting with the Defense Clan for tomorrow. I need to discuss the construction of Wu Tong's academy with them."

"At once, Your Highness."

"Thanks to Jose for the support!"
