Transformers Prime: I am Allspark

Chapter 8: Investigation

Decepticon ship:

The days passed with Megatron's return to the Decepticon army; everything went as planned; sometimes an explosion happened or someone died, but it was the most normal everyday life in this place.

Soundwave went about his usual work, multitasking to assist the Decepticon warship called Nemesis. However, he was investigating and waiting for the mysterious energy signal to be detected again, quietly anxious, something not in his nature.

Meanwhile, Megatron admired and studied the vast amount of dark Energon, the blood of Unicron, the Creator of Chaos. His intention was to harness its power and create a new army based on the Cybertronian undead, an army not limited to the physical aspect of mortality, but rather bestial.

Recently, Megatron was informed that Starscream had blown up the largest Energon mine as a result of the Autobots' invasion in search of Cliffjumper. Though he didn't mind this minor setback, Megatron noticed that his trusty soldier Soundwave was quieter than usual. Having known him for millions of years, he knew when he was restless, even if it was imperceptible to most.

"Starscream!" called Megatron, watching his large supply of dark Energon.

"Master, how may I serve you?" Starscream bowed his head in respect and fear, not wanting to provoke the endless wrath of his temperamental master.

"I notice Soundwave is more distracted than usual; what has happened in the last 3 years?" Megatron looked over his shoulder and saw Starscream tense up a bit.

"Nothing much, my Master; Soundwave is always busy with his duties." Starscream said with obvious nervousness.

"He wouldn't be distracted if it weren't for something that piqued his curiosity or might be relevant to the Decepticon cause." Megatron said, his voice imposing.

Starscream was startled, knowing what happened when Megatron got angry, but he quickly remembered a detail. "A few days ago, Soundwave detected a unique energy, but I told him not to let it distract him."

Megatron raised his metallic eyebrow upon hearing Starscream's words; he placed his hands behind his back and studied his dark Energon supply. "Unique energy… interesting."

Soundwave was in his private room, using his tentacles to perform the many tasks he had long been responsible for. He was making a great mathematical calculation based on the radiation of the mysterious energy, trying to unravel its supposed full potential, and all indications were that it was something very important to the Decepticons.

He had recently infiltrated the main satellites of the most powerful nations on planet Earth, using them to scour the world's major cities in search of even the tiniest amount of this energy to confirm and conclude his doubts, but fate was not in his favor.

The automatic door opened to reveal the gigantic Megatron, walking like a god of destruction, which was not far from the truth.

"Soundwave, we need to talk." Megatron said, his voice dark yet calm, for Soundwave was one of the few who received his full and well-deserved respect.

Soundwave simply turned to his master, still maintaining the enigmatic composure he always displayed.

"I couldn't help but notice that you were a little distracted, as if you had something to invest." Megatron stood two paces away from his servant. "What's bothering you?"

Soundwave immediately and without hesitation displayed his data, showing a subtle and complex study of energy frequencies. It showed a wide range of calculations and theories he had made over the last few days, which would have been the equivalent of 30 years of study if he were a human in his place.

"This doesn't seem to be the same energy as regular Energon, interesting." Megatron was curious, as the energy trail was something quite rare, considering they were on Earth. "How powerful is this energy?"

Soundwave displayed a graph of theoretical power source comparisons, surprising Megatron by comparing that the singular energy was on par with Dark Energon.

Megatron narrowed his eyes, both impressed and suspicious that such an energy had gone virtually unnoticed for so long.

"Knowing you and your precision, the energy cannot be easily detected, even with such power." Megatron pondered and turned to return to the command bridge. "Stay focused on our main project, but if you detect this energy again, we will send our troops to obtain the power."

Soundwave simply nodded and went back to work, not wanting to waste any more time than necessary. He was halfway through his task of implementing the plan to create a super-massive army of Cybertronian undead.

Megatron walked thoughtfully through his warship, not even imagining that the mysterious energy was from something very powerful that he had sought at the beginning of the war against Optimus Prime and his Autobots. But his encounter with that object or being would take time, due to the future great battle in which he would play a starring role.
