Chapter 33: Gift Awakening
The morning sun bathed the room in a warm golden glow as Adrian stood before the mirror, adjusting the collar of his silky nightwear. His reflection grinned back at him—silver hair slightly tousled, eyes gleaming like twin galaxies. He had barely finished waking himself up when the door burst open.
"Ed!"
Before he could react, a soft, familiar warmth enveloped him.
"Mama!" Adrian giggled as his mother, Seraphina Noctis, scooped him up in her arms, cradling him like he was the most precious treasure in the world.
"My baby! You just keep getting cuter every day! How is that even possible?!" She peppered his face with soft kisses, causing him to squirm and laugh.
Adrian grinned mischievously, puffing up his tiny chest. "Of course it is ! I am your son, after all."
Seraphina gasped dramatically, clutching her heart. "Ahh! My baby is too charming! What if all the little princesses fight over you? What will Mama do?Are you worried darling?"she asks softly carresing his hair.
Adrian gave a innocent smile, his confidence unwavering. "Mama, you don't need to worry. I already know I'm going to awaken a super amazing Gift today."
His mother arched an elegant brow, pretending to be impressed. "Oh? And where does my little prince get all this pride from?"
Adrian folded his arms proudly. "Dad."
A moment of silence. Then, both mother and son burst into laughter.
Seraphina hugged him tightly, gently stroking his hair before kissing his forehead. "You are really our little miracle, Ed."
Adrian smiled, enjoying the warmth of her embrace. He always felt safest in his mother's arms whether in this life or his last one , it was his mom's embrace which was the most comfortable.
After a few moments, Seraphina pulled away slightly and tucked a stray strand of silver hair behind his ear. "Evelyn, Liliana, and Celeste are on their way. They insisted on awakening their Gifts with you "
Adrian's eyes lit up. "Really?! That means Uncle Asmodeus and Uncle Alexander are coming too?"
His mother nodded. "Yes, along with your aunts and grandparents."She said stroking his hair
Adrian nodded his head softly, and thought to himself"Although it feels a little weird behaving like a child , as long as it makes them happy it's worth it"
Just then, a deep chuckle resonated from the doorway.
"Well, well. Looks like someone's already in a good mood."
Before Adrian could turn around, a pair of strong arms lifted him off the ground.
"Dad!" Adrian beamed as Zephyrus Ignis, the Dragon Emperor, spun him around before pulling him into a tight hug.
"How's my little dragon doing?" Zephyrus asked, ruffling Adrian's silver hair.
"I'm great! Mama was just saying how amazing I am." Adrian shot a smug look at his mother.
Seraphina rolled her eyes playfully. "You definitely got your father's arrogance."
Zephyrus smirked, holding Adrian up proudly. "First of all dear its not arrogance its self confidence and Of course! A prince has to be confident in his greatness doesn't he ?."
Adrian laughed nodding as his father placed him back down, his large hands resting on his tiny shoulders. "You're going to awaken your Gift today. Excited?"
Adrian nodded confidentlt his molten gold eyes glowing with confudence. "Yes! It's going to be awesome, just wait and see."
Zephyrus grinned. "That's my boy."
Seraphina sighed, shaking her head. "Alright, alright, as much as I feel bad to stop your father son moment . I need to get him dressed."
Zephyrus chuckled. "Have fun, son." He winked before stepping out, leaving Adrian to his mother's mercy.
Adrian sent a betrayed looks towards his father as Seraphina led him toward his wardrobe. "This is going to take forever…"He thought to himself
And just like that, his long battle with clothing began.
After an hour of being used as a dress up doll
Adrian sat on the couch, legs swinging back and forth as he waited. His outfit—a regal deep-blue tunic embroidered with silver threads—had taken forever to put on. Seriously, why do fancy clothes have so many buttons?
Just as he was about to mentally grumble again, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the hallway. Before he could react, the door slammed open.
"Ed!!!"
A small figure tackled him with surprising force, nearly knocking him over.
"E-Evie?!" Adrian barely managed to catch the tiny girl clinging onto him.
Evelyn Moonshade, the elven princess, buried her face into his chest. Her soft blonde-silver hair tickled his chin, and her tiny arms wrapped around him tightly. "Missed you so much Edddd!" she mumbled, refusing to let go.
Behind her, another blur rushed in.
"Ed! Ed! Ed!"
Celeste Solis practically jumped onto his back, her pinkish-blonde hair bouncing as she clung onto him like a koala. "I'm here too!!"She then started blabbering not stopping for even a second.
Adrian coughed. Why do they always attack me like this?!
Before he could recover, a third figure entered, walking at a more composed pace.
"Lili…" Adrian managed to say before—
Plop, Liliana "Missed you"she said softly
Liliana Noctis silently sat beside him and leaned her head on his shoulder, hugging him before her tiny hands gripping his sleeve. She said nothing, but her crimson eyes stared at him with quiet intensity.
Great… I'm officially trapped.
[ System Notification: "Harem—oops, I mean fan club has arrived. Congratulations, Host." ]
Shut up! Adrian mentally gritted his teeth, but the system only laughed harder.
"Evelyn, Celeste, Liliana," his mother's amused voice rang out, "let poor Adrian breathe."
Evelyn, still hugging him, only tightened her grip. "No."
Celeste giggled. "Nope! I haven't seen him in sooo long!"
"…Not letting go," Liliana mumbled softly.
Adrian sighed. They saw me literally a month ago in real life and just yesterday on the holograph...…
[ System Notification: "Your suffering is entertaining. Please continue." ]
I swear, I'll find a way to mute you.
Before the system could reply, another voice boomed from the entrance.
"Looks like my nieces and daughter beat me to it."
Adrian turned his head just in time to see his uncle, Asmodeus Noctis, stride into the room, his dark crimson cloak billowing behind him. Behind him, his aunt Lilith followed, her sharp yet elegant features softening as she spotted Adrian and then softly patted his head.
Another pair entered—his uncle Alexander Solis, the Human Emperor, and his wife, Sylvia, looking amused at the scene before them.
Then came the last group—his godparents, Elaris Moonshade and the Elven Emperor, their graceful forms exuding an ethereal presence as they smiled at his misery while elaris gushed at how cute they looked.
And finally, his grandparents.
The previous Dragon Emperor, a towering figure of strength. The former Human Empress, whose elegant features belied her mischievous eyes. The past Asura Emperor and Empress, both watching the scene with fond smiles.
Adrian thought to himself . That's all my family gathered right? …
[ System Notification: "All of them are here for you. No pressure." ]
…I hate you.
Seraphina clapped her hands. "Alright, little ones, let's not suffocate Adrian."
Evelyn pouted but loosened her grip (slightly). Celeste finally jumped off his back but still held onto his hand pouting. Liliana, however, didn't move an inch.
Zephyrus chuckled. "They're all attached to him, huh?"
Adrian thought to himself. "I don't know why this keeps happening…"
[ System Notification: "It's called being adored, Host. Try to cope." ]
I refuse and you better Shut up.
Meanwhile, Celeste bounced excitedly. "Ed! We're all gonna awaken our Gifts together! Isn't that fun?!"
Evelyn, still clinging to his side said pridefully. "I will have the strongest Gift, just wait and see ."
Liliana, gripping his sleeve tighter, whispered her eyes gleaming , "…Won't lose to anyone."
Adrian smiled. "Yeah yeah , you're all going to awaken great gifts."
The room filled with warmth as his family watched the little ones chatter excitedly, completely unaware of how much potential and power lay in their tiny hands.
Soon, the Gift Awakening Ceremony would begin.
